Dugout Discussion – Thursday

The curtain comes down on the second of four quick-fire festive Gameweeks this evening as Crystal Palace welcome Arsenal to Selhurst Park.

Up against the only side yet to keep a clean sheet in front of their own fans, the Gunners’ Alexandre Lacazette is the tenth top captain pick for Gameweek 20, handed the armband by 2.1% of Fantasy Premier League managers.

Having found the net in each of the last two, Mesut Ozil is the visitors’ form player, though Alexis Sanchez was back on the scoresheet against Liverpool last time out.

Both are owned by just 2% and could prove big differentials this evening.

Tonight’s teamsheet brings good news for the 11% still holding Sead Kolasinac, as he returns to the starting XI for the first time in four Gameweeks as the visitors revert to a wing-back set-up

The hosts, meanwhile, welcome back Christian Benteke from suspension. He bagged a goal and assist in his previous league appearance away to Swansea to hint at a return to form, though it’s Wilfried Zaha who has been the Eagles’ most impressive attacker of late.

Stationed up top in a front two, he has scored or assisted in five of his six home matches since returning from injury.

That output has been key to a run that’s seen Palace score two goals in each of the last six at Selhurst Park and could prove pivotal against an Arsenal rearguard with just two clean sheets in six on the road.

your 11 is ok for this week. I'll save a tf and spend it for a Spurs player (son) and a Wham one (Lanzini or arna)

I'd rather Lanzini over Alli because of price, fixtures, form and because you would have triple spurs attack

I think spurs triple attack is doable as their fixtures are okay for a few weeks after the dgw and can always move erik to coutinho or son to say pogba etc.

A very good option would be moving eriksen/alli (I'd rather the 2nd one) to Cou in GW25, but I think that with this run of fixtures, a West Ham mid is a must have

Arnie goal threat. Kane is enough and that DGW and fixtures turn bad 25-27 not worth breaking up template mid when 1 of 3 spurs mid could score get rotated rested.

Save some money for Quaner>Austin at GW25. Buy Alonso, I don't trust so much Firmino (Klopp telling the truth) and Lingard (Mou telling the truth) so I'll say go with two 4.5 mids and spend that money A: Jones>Alonso B: Firmino>Laca

I'm tempted to not TC him for this double. I reckon a huge number will captain him and lots of those will be TC. So those TCers stand to gain Kane's score extra on top of the ordinary captainers. Nice of course, but hardly season changing.

Come later in the season and there *may* be a scenario where there's several people to choose from if say City, Pool, Chelsea, Ars and/or Utd are involved in a DGW. You could stand to gain to the score to the power of two or maybe even three if you wait until then.

Not sure if I explained myself that well, but food for thought anyway I hope

It's always a risk hitting the chip, he could get injured 5 minutes into the first game.

Right now we have: The best player in the game, in his best form, with two absolute peaches of fixtures. You couldn't dream of any better scenario to hit the button.

Realistically the most you'll lose out on is 25 points for a failed TC.

Even if there are better options later on people can captain.

Unlikely Kane blanks so any potential losses are minimal.

I don't understand your logic here. The points gained from a GW22 tc chip are worth the same as if its used in GW37 or any other DGW

        1. thegaffer82
          • 12 Years
          6 years, 4 months ago

Just the logic being that I'm assuming anyone who is anyone will captain Kane. Let's say Kane gets 10.
          TCers get 30
          Cers get 20 (I.e ev1 else!)

GWxx there's a genuine choice between say Sterling, Salah, Cout & Hazard. The captains are spread (and some might not even own ur pick). So your TC *if it hits* can move your rank a lot more.

Anyway, it's all ifs and buts. But just throwing it out there is all.

          1. Scratch
            • 14 Years

Points gained or lost next week are the same value as those later on in the season

Also, if there is a DGW later on with an array of choices, it sounds like a better week for a Bench Boost.

            1. thegaffer82
              • 12 Years
              6 years, 4 months ago

True about the bench boost, but there will be two more DGW's after this one so could still work.

But anyway the key point about this TC point is... I'm just talking in relation to what others are doing around you. Of course I'm not suggesting TC is worth more actual points in a later DGW.

    Good morning DZ 🙂

Let's get some Friday chatter underway.

With the January transfer window around the corner, is there anybody that you are hoping joins the PL in terms of potentially being a FPL prospect or slightly different, joins a club in the PL and consequently has an effect on the rest of the team which could enhance other fantasy prospects chances of scoring well?

For example, so far we've obviously got van Dijk joining Liverpool, who will almost certainly improve their defence on the overall once he settles in. Whether that improves CS, I'm not sure, especially given their underperforming keepers.

Everton linked with Cenk Tosun, whom we don't know too much about, but could possibly affect DCL's extended run in the team, assuming that Rooney stays fit.

    Let's hear it lads/lasses.

DCL is living on borrowed time for sure. Sounds like a done deal for Tosun. Interesting to see what price he'll be. 7-8 bracket I'm guessing.

Wouldn't be surprised if Utd signed one or maybe two this window. Mou & Utd don't usually shop in January but Man City's run coupled with dire need for a LB and someone to do Miki's job might force Mous hand.

That sounds like a realistic price for Tosun. Still would have preferred had they signed Giroud in the past summer.

United shopping for a LB so surely they'll go for Danny Rose? He'd be a helluva addition.

Actually, Nzonzi to Everton/Arsenal would also boost their teams Cs chances. Also, Draxler would be interesting if he moved.

Nzonzi and Draxler would definitely be great additions to whichever club they join.
What kind of price range would you put them at?

Draxler probably 8mil. Nzonzi is a cdm so probably only 5-5.5m , obviously that wouldn't matter to much as the defenders would be more enticing as picks for the team he joins.

Someone else that hasn't been mentioned is of course Dembele potentially moving to Brighton.

I haven't been following it closely, but if it were to happen, it'd be coup for Brighton and surely give them the striking power they need up front. Especially going into the last few months with a probable relegation scrap on their hands.

Surely a decent 3rd or even 2nd striker option depending on pricing. Only off-put is their fixtures.

      God I hope so.

Purely for the reason that Pep has said he won't sign him this January.

If he goes to City this summer and they can keep hold of their best players, they will have the most scary set of attacking players ever assembled. And god help the rest of the league. It'll be like the Bundesliga on steroids

    Anyone take -8 for dgw?
Planning for -8 to bring Arnie+Ali+Son (actually I have 2 FT but need to ditch Aguero to fund)

    1. thegaffer82
      • 12 Years
      6 years, 4 months ago

Goodness no. I actually planned this DGW nicely to have 3 Spurs & 2 WHam with no hits. But honestly I wouldn't be taking hits to hit that number were I in a different position.

Kane, Arnie & Alli/Erik is probably enough. Great if you can add one or two from Son/Og/Adrian/Lloris/Vert/Lanzini. But the latter bracket probably not worth the hit

I'm considering holding my TC. I'll captain Kane just like everyone else and his dog, so I won't stand to lose too much ground hopefully. And then try to capitalise later in the season with another DGW

In a DGW that involves more than just Spurs and West Ham. Plus everyone (active) owns or will own Kane. Not to mention there's two days between the games.

Nothing to get into a fuss about I reckon
