Dugout Discussion

Boxing Day Dugout Discussion

A busy Boxing day programme serves up nine Premier League matches, with only the Gunners and West Ham missing the party. With seven three o’clock kick-offs and two evening matches, we’ve feast in front of us and a constant stream of Fantasy points right throughout the day. Our Dugout Discussion chatroom is now open to be your soundboard as you surf the wave of emotions approaching.

The team news from the three o’clock kick-offs is dominated by the news that it’s Wayne Rooney who makes way from the United lineup to face Newcastle, with Robin Van Persie, trusted with the armband by many, starting along with Javier Hernandez. Sky Sports have reported that Rooney, along with Ashley Young who is also absent today, picked up knocks in training.

Elsewhere, Roberto Mancini defies his statement that it’s “impossible” to start with the same strikers for two matches in the space of three days by starting with the same strikers for two matches in the space of three days (so bitter – ed) – it’s Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez up front at Sunderland, then. John O’Shea misses out for the home side, Ryan Nelsen is absent for QPR through illness, Bryan Ruiz is fit enough to return to the bench for Fulham, Grant Holt returns for Norwich, David Luiz looks to be in midfield again for Chelsea as Rafa Benitez rests Eden Hazard. It’s breathless stuff and there hasn’t been a ball kicked in anger yet.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      Nothing much besides this, sorry:

"Laudrup made his final change for the last ten minutes, and it was an enforced one as Itay Shechter replaced the injured Michu."

Rooney is out 2-3 weeks with an injury.

Welbeck was ill and didn't play.

Young also got an injury yesterday in training but no word on his.

          From BBC, SAF:

"December is always a big month. We dropped two points at Swansea but we made up for it today. It was a real championship performance. Rooney has done a ligament at the back of his knee and he will be out for two or three weeks. We are running out of ammunition."

Fckin Morrison, Schneiderlin and Garrido! They are always in my team (last 5-6 GWs), and always someone from the bench outscores all three of them! Cuellar, this time. Luckily, didn't sell Johnson 😀
2FT next week, any suggestions? Was thinking of Clark from AV, and a midfielder

With Rooney out for a while, why not double up with Hernandez and RVP? Infact Hernandez more nailed on than RVP for West Brom game I think
Will get him out with my wildcard.

    a) Chelsea DEF - improved under Rafa - possibly Cahill/Cole
    b) Full backs that have assist potenital e.g. Gibbs
    c) Stoke - but already have Bego and Cameron

      It was Reading mind tricks.

You saw what Santi did to Reading and thought Hey, what if Michu replicates that? It caused people to load up on City for that fixture as well.

It was a good punt TBH.
