Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 36

The weekend’s nine fixtures seemed to have made a minimal impact on the treatment rooms up and down the country. With this in mind, we roll out an injury and suspension all-in-one update ahead of tonight’s Emirates clash between Arsenal and Newcastle:

Injuries

Aston Villa
Leandro Bacuna was withdrawn at half-time in the weekend loss at Swansea due to illness, Paul Lambert has confirmed.

Everton
Roberto Martinez confirmed Leighton Baines was subbed off towards the end of Saturday’s loss at Southampton:

“We will assess Leighton Baines and see if it’s a serious injury or not. He was feeling his knee and his calf a little bit, we will assess him but it shouldn’t be too bad”.

Fulham
Steve Sidwell was forced off with a knock during Saturday’s draw with Hull, according to the club’s official website.

Newcastle
Luuk de Jong has been ruled out of this evening’s trip to the Emirates with an ankle problem picked up during last week’s loss to Swansea.

Swansea
Angel Rangel was subbed off during the weekend win over Villa after picking up an injury late in the second-half.

West Brom
The Baggies right-back Steven Reid lasted less than 45 minutes of the weekend win over West Ham before limping off due to injury.

West Ham
James Tomkins was forced off just after the half-hour mark of Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at the Hawthorns through injury.

Suspensions

Chelsea’s Ramires was handed a four-match ban last week after accepting the FA’s charge of violent conduct for an off-the-ball incident during the Gameweek 35 home loss to Sunderland. The Brazilian was sidelined for yesterday’s trip to Anfield and will also miss the upcoming games against Norwich and Cardiff, in addition to the opening fixture of the 2014/15 campaign.

Stoke skipper Ryan Shawcross is set to serve a one-match ban this weekend after he was dismissed against Spurs at the weekend. The Potters skipper, who received two yellow cards in the 1-0 loss, misses a home clash against Fulham, with Marc Muniesa likely to partner Marc Wilson at the heart of defence, allowing Erik Pieters to return to the starting XI at left-back.

Cardiff centre-half Juan Cala will sit out this weekend’s trip to Newcastle after being dismissed for denying a goalscoring opportunity during yesterday’s 4-0 loss at Sunderland. The Spaniard returns in time for the Gameweek 38 clash with Chelsea as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer attempts to stave off the threat of relegation.

Jordan Henderson serves the last of a three-match ban this weekend as Liverpool look to bounce back from Sunday’s loss to Chelsea with a tricky trip to Selhurst Park.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I also disagree, racism should be treated seriously.

By doing that, he might encourage (unwillingly of course) tons of idiots to continue cheap racist gestures/insults.
We should not minimize whats happening in Spain (and many other parts in South/East Europe).

I'm pretty sure racism is not Danny Alves' to fight alone. It's the job of UEFA/ FIFA to sort out.

Racism, indeed should be condemned. But condemning his tongue-in-cheek, ironic response to it? Madness. He dealt with it much better than I think I would have.

I take your point. You feel he should have ignored it.

But how long should players have to endure such ridiculous behaviour? It's certainly a problem that needs to be addressed by footballs' governing bodies, but surely turning a blind eye to it every time it happens is tantamount to endorsing it. At least such unique (and in my opinion, inspired) reaction will bring it to the attention of a lot more people and highlight the problem more.

For me, what was so great about it, is that it highlighted the absurdity of the concept of chucking a banana.

You say they wanted a reaction. Yes. But not that one. Alves nonchalantly ate the fruit (famous for being a great source of energy) and went on to help his side come back from 2 goals down. Brilliant!

Captained Rooney in the end but, like Newcastle Utd, I gave up on this season several weeks ago.

As the season comes to an end, I think we've reached a point where so many good players are back from injury while other players hit form that, more than ever, you simply can't have everyone, and people are making major moves to accommodate players they will probably be fine without.

    Gents,

Currently 41 points ahead in first place of my ML. Should I do the following for a -8 hit for GW37?

    Aguero > Rooney
    Lukaku > Wickham
Mutch > Mata or Yaya (any MF available actually)

    Current squad outlook:
    Mannone (Speroni)
Coleman – Azpilicueta – Mariappa (Bennett – Gabbidon)
    Ramsey – Gerrard – Mata/Yaya – Eriksen (El Ahmadi)
    Rooney – Suarez – Wickham

Let me know if I am nuts for doing the following… All 3 players are hot maybe they can do work for the DGW. Cheers!

Ah, I think the only option I have is:

            Aguero > Rooney
            Mutch > Yaya/Mata
            Lukaku > Wickham

            with .9M in the bank

Will Yaya outscore Mata this week, that is the question.

Thanks to the replies on the last post: Which one of these to afford Yaya, all -4

    A) Zabaleta > Baker

    B) Suarez > Wickham - Rooney> Suarez GW38 FT

    C) AJ > 4.2m (thinking Meyler and then playing him over Chester

Thinking C is the best option.

Will now reply to any questions for a whole page to say thanks IMO

If money was no object and you had a WC to play what would be your perfect XI for DGW?

    Mine would be:

    Mannone

    Evra Cahill Mertesacker

    Mata Nasri Yaya Ramsey

    Aguero Rooney Suarez

    I've already done what I think is a decent 4PH;

      Just shifted Gerrard for Yaya.
Is there anything worth a -4 here?

      Mannone
      Cahill - Shaw - Chester
      Yaya - Mata - Eriksen - Ramsey
      Aguero - Suarez - Rooney (C)

      (Boruc - Coleman - Barkley - Ward)
      .9m.
Shaw to a City or United defender?
Not sure it's worth the -4 with City playing Everton and United selection looking sketchy.

As per tradition, I predict the score that miraculously is best for my FPL hopes.

27-28 to Newcastle, all Arsenal's scored by Ramsey with no assists. Sagna sent off after missing 10 pens. No-one owns Newcastle players so I don't care what they do.

        This will definitely happen.

        I think Yaya is essential.

You could do Coleman to a Hull or Sunderland defender and get Yaya in.

Is it worth doing Nasri to Yaya for a hit?

        Evra or Demichelis.

        I'd say Evra

Just because getting Demi/zab means you are missing out on one of Nasri/Yaya/Kun

Thanks guys. Yeah I am planning on having all three of them, hoping for a lot of attacking returns.
