The Watchlist – Morten Gamst Pedersen

Three wins in their last four league games means Blackburn Rovers once-stuttering season is now firmly back on track, with Morten Gamst Pedersen, in particular, being pivotal to their recent resurgence. The Norwegian has scored four in four for Sam Allardyce’s men, including a brace against Aston Villa on Sunday, and all of this after getting punched in the heart by Joey Barton.

Pedersen’s recent outstanding form has allowed him to sneak up the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) standings somewhat un-noticed. Priced at £5.7m, he costs the same as Charlie Adam and has, like the Blackpool playmaker, also scored 65 FPL points, yet Adam has been selected by a whopping 18.1% of Fantasy Managers in comparison to Pedersen’s meagre ownership of 1.7%. The Norwegian’s credentials as a real “differential” is shown by the fact that his FPL points total also tops the far more popular (and equally-priced) Fantasy selections such as Matthew Etherington, Charles N’Zogbia and Chris Brunt.

Outwith a difficult trip to Old Trafford this upcoming weekend, fixtures are certainly on Blackburn’s side right now; from Gameweek 16 their next five games (WOL, bol, WHM, STK, wba) are all definitely winnable. A good run of form before the New Year would push Rovers up from mid-table mediocrity and perhaps persuade the club’s new Indian owners to splash the cash in the January transfer window, which would surely be the perfect Christmas present for Big Sam.

Pedersen is bound to be a vital participant in this potentially significant run and is in irresistible form, picking up 9 FPL bonus points in his last 4 games. The player himself has identified the spurt in form to a change of position that has seen him come in from the left-flank to a more central role.

“I’m playing in a different position now, more central rather than out wide as I played five years ago…It’s going well for me and that’s five goals in five games if you include the international match last Wednesday. It’s hard to say what has happened, but I worked hard to turn things round. Now I’m really looking forward to that next game at United”

Pedersen goes to United having scored a brace in a Rovers victory back in 2005. While a repeat performance may be too much to ask, Pedersen is undboutedly on a high and continued returns after the United game look a strong possibility.

“.”

Hey guys, bit of a random one but i had to reimage my laptop yesterday and i lost a valuble tool and was wondering if anyone could help me as i cannot remember the name of it for the life of me... I remember ages ago prob 2 seasons ago someone on here recommended an addon for firefox i think it may of been a script or something, anyway it was customised for fantasy.premierleague.com and when clicking on the I button on players it showed you a quick overview of player history and price gain and other when you clicked on players.
Does anyone know the name or can give me a link for this timesaver?

    Thanks

Hey guys, think im going transfer out Fab and get Tevez in and was looking at bargain basement players that play week in week out, Who do you recommend below 5mil I was looking at Fergurson (BI) or whitehead (SC) but do you know of anyone whos on the up?

for under 5 million id take ferguson over whitehead, other wise if you can dish out 5.3, jarvis is a good idea. There really is virtually nothing on the up otherwise, hence the phrase, "you get what you pay for" If you can wait for albrighton to heal, he probably has the most upside, may drop another tenth by then as well. Barton is maybe the last guy to consider, but I dont think you get points for gut punching.

Liverpool arent really blasting them in either though, and Cahill has been doing far better than Kuyt recently.

The whole "Asia cup" story doesnt affect most people for whom Cahill is a short term (3-4 week) stopgap before getting Cesc back...

in theory that front 3 is brilliant, but you always suffer somewhere else spending that kind of money and after looking at your team, you need to give yourself at least one more solid option in defence. Jara as a 5th defender is fine but Perch needs to go, and colemans spot is in danger. You really have no bench, so any week your top guys cant go, you really are just stuck with an automatic 1 or 2. You cant ignore carrols price in relation to his value, he is gonna score like a 9 million+ pound forward for only 2/3rds the price. Just my humble and not always reliable opinion.

Your wildcard team shouldn't need a trade apart from injuries in the following week unless it's planned.

have been doing well for the past few gw's and took a huge risk in bringing fabs->silva. feels great, hope the move turns out to be decent and silva starts scoring.
will do drogba->tevez, next week depending on drogba's performance this week.
was wondering whom should i swap for pedersen next week-parker or brunt.
i guess it should be parker right if brunt if fit now.

I thought about that one myself. Could be a good move, But I opted for Fabregas -> Nasri (Well I'll do it sometime today). Thing that worried me the most was that he didn't get anything in the 4-1 win at Fulham.

Would any of you good gents care to take a look at my defence?

I've already done Fabs > Dempsey - worth a 4pointer to bring in Kolarov or Vidic?

I'm a strong advocate of 'no hits for defenders' but injuries/rotation/suspension has hit my back line for six...

Everyone's playing less at the moment!

        O'Shea rotated, never plays...
        Williamson suspended
        Alex needs an op
        Coleman's place is under threat

Konchesky's my only guaranteed starter and they're away to Spurs... argh!

    Morning Gents,

Realise this has probably been asked a lot around here. Does anyone know the dates of the Asian Cup and more specifically between which gameweeks Cahill is expected to be out?

    Cheers

i will take a decision just 5-10 minutes ahead of deadline...but davies hasn't been scoring from open play n nani hasn't been playing that well so my decision will go down to the deadline it seems...

Seems odd to say it but Bolton are more 'free scoring' at the moment...

I'm currently going Elmander captain over Nani (wish I hadn't swapped from him to Fabs Saturday morning last weekend!)

Dempsey - playing upfront and Fulham have some decent home fixtures ahead (not perturbed by the thrashing by City on Sunday)...

Giving Arteta one more week then swapping for Pedersen, giving me:

          Dempsey | Pedersen | VDV | Nani | Brunt

Like the look of that for the next 4/5 weeks...

    Gordon
    Vidic Coleman Carr
    N'Zogbia Bale Nani Adam
    Carroll Tevez Elmander (C)

    Bench: Foster Konchesky Fabregas Elmohamady

Ended up taking a 4pt hit to get Vidic and Elmander in.

Reckon I do Fabs to Cahill and play instead of Adam too? I'm not usually in to taking many points hits but Fabs is only gonna go down in price and Adam ain't gonna get any points really.
