Renewed my membership last night. Ready to go now.

a lot of my mates know about this site...however they dont use the forum which is what i find most valuable.

so how long before membership is required to you anything on here?

Just to add...I informed a mate of this site and he has only ever used it to see injury news and he's a close contender in my mini-league...so depending on the characters you have in your leagues I wouldn't really be too concerned...I'm obsessed and is why I found this site...Most wont even bother with it...and besides...every fan has his or her own opinion about players and such...most will ignore what is said here...it takes true commitment to be a regular here...most don't have the time and will miss important conversation and such. I guess it does question whether the site can handle the traffic should it take off for most but overall I think this is a good move and am glad to have been a part of the site (for a short time only though) before it revealed itself to the world. Up FFS!!!

Basically what we're looking at here is a weekly preview advising on the best players to bring in each gameweek, essentially giving all the idiots who used to base their transfers on the Pundit column a massive assistance every single week.

I think I may quit the game all together.

I think They were expecting a postive response.....

While I'm pleased for the guys who run the site that they have secured a deal to grow their enterprise and increase publicity etc, I'm not pleased that all the numbnuts in my various leagues are now going to have some useful info to rely on each week. I'll definitely be unlinking my team ASAP.

Also, does this mean the game is likely to be opening soon now that we've had this announcement? Mark?

Congrats Mark and the team, the hard work has undoubtedly paid off for you all!

While it may lead to some slightly more informed masses the fact that I doubt FPL want massive articles on their site, let alone a constant team of the week means that those who don't check FFS and only check the FFS FPL column will still be a long way behind, chill a bit guys?

People need to chill out.

even if you are aware of this site the skill is still sifting all the information and making the correct decision,for instance i had baines shoved down my throat for most of last season and still never picked him ,im convinced the changes wont make a huge difference.

Guys, you are overreacting. Casuals wont really care, some people will drop off after couple of GW and actual players already know about the site. Its not like you will be disadvantaged or something, members on here have stats and everything witch are very helpful. Just chill.

my thoughts:

great news for the ffs crew, and *possibly* bad news for those of us who've been using the site. i say possibly because it takes A LOT of time to sift through all of the resources at our fingertips here. not sure that even with ffs being a more visible resource that many of the millions who play but haven't found this site will invest the time necessary to glean as much as we do. more reason than ever to become a member.

SUGGESTION: members' forum where anyone who subscribes can go to do the same thing we've been doing on the normal forum for years. the more i think about it, the more i'm convinced that's EXACTLY what ffs should set up.

so, in short, it's sort of bad news, but good news for the scout. any hey, it's not as bad as the black eyed peas doing music for target commercials. death to fergie (and i don't mean sir alex!)!!!!

The FPL game is really about commitment (and luck). Lots of people I know play the game casually, know about the site but just can't invest any time into reading through articles, forum posts etc.
The others who don't even know about the site haven't even bothered using a search engine to look for help, so what's makes you think they will become a hardcore FF addict?

Have confidence in your own ability to soak up information here and use it to your advantage over the next person.

FPL will open in another 5 hours.

It makes me laugh that the main reason the community on here is strong is to get the upper hand on other players. When the percieved advantage is taken away, comments of giving up are written.

Those that win FF competitions are commited, and an insight from those on here will do little if they are not taken by the general public of casual players.

Those that are complaining, need to step away from the selfish step and congratulate on those that made this happen. Mark et al. have realised, in part, a dream and that must be recognised. Well done.

Furthermore, if those that feel that the advantage is now taken away, this is an opportunity to reinvent the wheel and find new ways of getting ahead of their compatriots.

There are enough people on here that they they are oh so smart, so use that brain to find another way to win.

Sorry for the rant, I just hate ungrateful people. No doubt i'll be cast aside from this community based on these comments, so it's probably a good job I don't post often.

I reckon with FPL becoming more like, say, FIFA 11 etc, in that casual players can just pick it up and have a go but if you put the effort in you'll get more reward. FFS must appeal to both demographics too.

The articles and insight mentioned will obviously be on FPL. But will there be any link mention of FFS? Or will the article state that this was brought to you in partnership with FFS?

I assume it would as that is only way FFS will profit.

The table has been removed from the front page on fpl when I load it and it has been replaced by an advertising banner which is incorectly sized hmmm....

Chuffed for you. Hopefully you will make a few quid now to make all the hard work worthwhile. I have told everyone about the site and to date only two of my friends use it and even then, they really just look at the team of the week. The bottom line is that not everyone is as addicted as we are and that simple fact means they will not be drawn here as we all are like a moth to a flame. Members only forums would be a good idea as I imagine the number of contributions and RMTs is going to go bananas making it hard to sift through for helpful information.

This must mean the game is going live today. The cryptic clues hinting at rule changes worry me. All for BP transparency but I hope it isn't veering towards some overly elaborate OPTA style points system. The simplicity of the scoring is one of the greatest appeals as you can score your team as you are watching SSN on a Saturday!

Anyone get the feeling this news was strategically 'buried' (read: released) just before the game is about to go live, and will be forgotten in a matter of hours amongst RMT's?

Congrats to you guys , but a few queries with regards to Paid Membership :

1. Will you guys still be producing Members only content? For example, last year I remember an analysis on Malouda or drogba or something like that, where it really exhibited Drogba's improvement (he scored 22 in the DGW after that). Now even though the article itself might be made exclusive to members, the conclusions drawn from it will surely be evident in your weekly articles? I'm just trying to figure out what exactly we pay for in the paid membership

2. You guys thought about a members only forum? Great way to distinguish the 'hardcore' from the chaff we are bound to get on here
