Scout Scribbles- Balotelli to Face FA Charge

Mario Balotelli faces a four-match ban after appearing to stamp on Scott Parker. Reports suggest Peter Crouch could also be under investigation for an alleged eye-gouging incident at the weekend, Nani could be out for a fortnight, while Frank Lampard is set to miss Chelsea’s FA Cup game with QPR.

Mario Balotelli has until tomorrow evening to appeal or accept the charges of violent conduct dished out by the FA last night. Having examined footage of the incident in which Balotelli appeared to stamp on Tottenham’s Scott Parker, referee Howard Webb confirmed he would have dismissed the Italian striker. A three-match ban is the normal punishment for such a charge, but with Balotelli already seeing red at Anfield earlier in the season, he now faces a four-match ban which will begin with tomorrow night’s Carling Cup tie with Liverpool.

Should Balotelli look to appeal, he will be eligible for tomorrow’s game, although an unsuccessful appeal could extend his ban further. Given that the FA have already used footage to assess the incident and the fact that we’re dealing with Howard Webb – the FA’s most senior official – it would seem most unlikely that the charge will be overturned. City may feel more confident, however.

For Fantasy managers, Balotelli’s likely absence from three league games against (eve, FUL, avl), will raise the profile of Edin Dzeko as an option. The Bosnian has started City’s previous four games and earned an assist in Sunday’s 3-2 victory. Having begun the season in outstanding form, Dzeko clearly has the potential to offer an effective differential and provide at least a short-term alternative to the 11.1 Sergio Aguero.

Peter Crouch is another striker potentially in trouble. A report in the Daily Mirror claims that the FA have agreed to examine footage of an incident which appeared to show Crouch gouging the eyes of West Brom’s Jonas Olsson. Crouch could miss the FA Cup match with Derby on Saturday as well as league games against Manchester United and Sunderland.

There are further details emanating from Old Trafford concerning the casualties suffered in Sunday’s 2-1 win at the Emirates. On the plus side, The Times are amongst those reporting that Phil Jones’ ankle injury is not as severe as anticipated, suggesting that he has not suffered the ligament damage that Sir Alex Ferguson feared. There’s possibly a chance that Jones will be fit to face Liverpool in the FA Cup this weekend, with reports claiming he is feeling no real discomfort in the ankle.

Nani is more of a concern, however. There are several reports stating a likely two-week absence for the Portuguese winger, who was said to leave the Emirates wearing a protective boot. The Daily Mail claim that Nani has himself stating a likely absence and state that United are set to scan the injury, for fear of a cracked a metatarsal. Elsewhere, Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick are expected to be available for the weekend Cup tie, despite suffering ankle and hamstring problems respectively.

Chelsea hope to have Frank Lampard available for the trip to Swansea next week, after scans revealed that the midfielder suffered just a small tear to his calf muscle in the 0-0 stalemate at Carrow Road. Meanwhile, Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed the reasons behind Gary Cahill’s omission from the Chelsea squad at Norwich.

Gary Cahill trained with the team for three days and there are team principles to learn first, but he had a very good week and showed all his qualities.

Cahill is in line for his Chelsea debut this weekend and could make his first league appearance for the club at the Liberty next week. He is already amongst the most popular defensive signings in the Fantasy Premier League game, attracting over 6,000 transfers so far in the Gameweek, despite his no-show on Saturday. Look out for our Scout Report on Cahill’s prospects later in the week.

Still in West London, and the Mark Hughes revolution looks set to begin with the capture of AC Milan left-back Taye Taiwo. Reports on Sky yesterday claimed that a work permit has been granted as the deal reached its conclusion. Fantasy managers will be monitoring the Loftus Road entrance for new arrivals prior to the transfer window closing, as Rangers approach a run of opponents that could see their Fantasy output increase dramatically. A move for City’s Nedum Onuoha is also mooted, although a potential deal for Chelsea’s Alex looks to be in jeopardy amidst reports that the Brazilian prefers a move to Paris St Germain.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    currently have Silva, Bale, Nani, Sess (Buzsaky) in mid.

      Looking hot!

      Dempsey - keeper for rest of season and who's showing best form in career
      Sess - keeper for now
      Valencia - great form and best form of his career at Man U

      Nani - the odd one out... if you keep him be prepared to be frustrated from time to time

    A. Lindegaard & Mignolet with 5.0 to spend on defender
    B. Lindegaard & Krul with 4.3 to spend on defender

      I think moving Sturridge out is a good idea, however Ade's fixtures aren't great after Wigan. If you are wanting to ship him out this week, consider maybe Zamora/Welbeck/Keane/Bent/Flethcer/Helgerson

      Don't do it. I made the mistake last week of dropping Bale and keeping that clown...he simply goes through the motions and probably touched the ball 6 times in 63 minutes, and if that's not enough, h usually gets taken off at that minute mark. He had a couple of blocked shots, other than that he looks like a guy that smokes at least a pack and a half a day and still has some bit of talent.

        I repeat don't do it mate!

        That's what, "out of form means" he just not willing to put forth the effort to get into spacce to make himself available for the ball. His stamina is shot. There is an outside chance he could look so bad to Wigan's defenders that eventually they may not bother closing him down that one time. But his work rate is up there with a slightly fatter Paul Scholes.. His teammates know that he's not going to be the guy to kick it wide to Bale and then make a strong middle channel run to receive it back, the f*cker does that he's liable to snap his hammy in half...

    Aguero vs Dzeko

    Aguero - 14G & 5A in 1480 mins, 126 overall points, 35% ownership
    Dzeko - 11G & 5A in 1026 mins, 101 overall points, 13% ownership

    If they had same playing time they are statistically equal. So why not save the 3.1M and have Dzeko for the next 3GW's or longer. I have a feeling that Mancini is pissed off with the "big bad Italian" and has mentioned in the past that he can be uncontrollable. Even when he comes back, I think Dzeko will get more playing time.

    Plan was to go Rooney>Aguero after this GW. Now, I am defo going Rooney >Dzeko and use the 3.1 elsewhere and take adv of differential

    Seems like a no brainer.....Anyone else with me? Or am i missing somthing?

      Be intersting to look at Dzeko's away stats. Aguero is terrible away but great at home. I seem to remember some of Dzeko's hauls coming away.

      Your plan makes sense...but with so few big money players (Rooney, Nani, Malouda, A Young) performing I think many have some spare for Aguero.

        He's had 6 or 7 big hauls with 4 of them coming away:

        21 pts at Spurs
        13 at United

      I like Dzeko, besides Mancini's hands appear tied. He would apparently have to play. And I like his chances on the left against a Phil Neville. Besides Aguero will be the shiny thing that the back four get pulled ever so slightly out of position. Personally I hope it gets REALLY UGLY for Moyes...the c*nt.

    Am I correct in assuming that whichever of Man city (BLA) or Liverpool (EVE) is in the carling cup final will not play GWK 26 and will therefore have a double at some point after that?

        good on ya FB!

        About the only trophy (and maybe the FA cup) we will win this year... sadly... and maybe still no champ league too... 🙁

        god, this sounds so depressing... all we seem to do is to look forward to next season...

      I think it's possible that the rearranged game could be fall in the same GW. Although it won't if Liverpool get through, the police wouldn't want a Merseyside derby as an evening game.

            Yes. surprised my American ass...I just assumed that West Ham had posh fans because so many royals/celebs SEEM to support them, already knew the score with Millwall supporters though...

    Mata or Silva? Already have everybody's favorite midfield right now with Sess, Dempsey, Bale, Valencia in the fold and Adebayor and Aguero up front. Is Mata any more than a negative differential to Silva? Will my midfield be too boring if I bring in Silva?

      Who cares about boring.....the Silva is so consistant and you never have to worry about him. If you want a differential go Aguero>Dzeko imo.

      Rephrasing your question slightly... would you prefer to go for the daring differential option of Mata & end up with fewer points?

      because that's what will almost certainly happen... Silva should already be in your team...

        Right, thanks. Only room for one more City player so will likely go with Silva and then hope Ade charged and can go off v. more than Wigan. I am quite close to having no Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool coverage in attack but am oddly okay with it, RVP notwithstanding. Those attacks just do not impress me right now.

    Worth a 4 point hit?

    Aguero -> Morison
    Rooney -> RVP
    Ferguson -> Dempsey

    Leaving my team as:

    Vorm - Mignolet
    BAE - Richards - Caulker - Evans - Enrique
    Valencia - Bale - Sess - Dempsey - Silva
    RVP - Morison - Sturridge

    Depending on fixtures I'll be swapping my formation from 3-4-3 to 3-5-2.

    What are your thoughts?

      No. You're selling Aguero ahead of his good run, and leaving Sturridge in there. Madness
