Semi Finals – Day Two – Dugout Discussion

After back-to-back goalless draws, we’ll be hoping for a little more entertainment tonight as Germany square up to Italy for the right to meet Spain in Sunday’s final. As always, we’ve opened up the Dugout Discussion ahead of this evening’s match.:

The team news is now in and is as follows:

Joachim Low makes three changes from the side that defeated Greece 4-2. Lukas Podolski and Mario Gomez both return after being dropped, though the inclusion of Toni Kroos in the starting XI is something of a surprise. Andre Schurrle, Miroslav Klose and Marco Reus all drop to the bench as a result.

Cesare Prandelli makes a single alteration to his starting XI. Giorgio Chiellini is fit after a thigh injury and returns to the side at left-back – this means Federico Balzaretti shifts over to the opposite flank in the back-four, with Ignazio Abate the man to lose his place.

Germany XI: Neuer; Boateng, Hummels, Badstuber, Lahm; Khedira, Schweinsteiger; Kroos, Özil, Podolski; Gomez

Italy XI: Buffon; Balzaretti, Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini; Marchisio, Pirlo, De Rossi; Montolivo; Balotelli,Cassano.

    Sorry to ask but my competition has Balzaretti and he needs to have 1 point less having in mind the rules.

    For conceding a penalty after the referee adjudges that an infringement takes place in the penalty area that results in a kick from the penalty spot

    Anyone else think the final will be 0-0?

    If so, I see no point in taking a hit to play a forward or attacking mid. All defenders and mids with RB history IMO.

      Well Italy scored against Spain in the group. It will be difficult to decide. I think I am gonna go with Buffon and all Spain defenders.

          as it did for Switzerland, we were out before that. But by my reckoing you 2 need a 9 point hit combined, I need -15 so that's 6 point advantage to you guys. My team-mate is away so will only have 8 players.

          I remember when u put a team up front at this place and we had a small li'l arguement for my misinterpretation...too silly a reason btw...the point is U had balotelli in that team and told me that I was crazy to think it was ur final team...no issues but u should have sticked with that....i dont mean any offense....so plz dont mind....cheers mate 🙂

        I agree with you.

        I've seen Italy do this too many times in big tournaments to bet against them. They know how to play tournament football. They also normally do it right after some kind of adversity.

        Pirlo has been the best player of this tournament.
