Projecting Value – Goalkeepers

Having rolled out a Selection Guide to Goalkeepers earlier this afternoon, we now switch focus to the Members Projections for our search for the men between the sticks. While Joe Hart predictably sits out on top, we focus on value in this first Members article, examining those keepers who are expected to deliver the best points per million ratio for the season and the first six Gameweeks…

      Siggy was MOTM, for me.

Obviously, without VDV and forwards (!) it's tough to extrapolate out to the season ... but he looked very lively.

So, what do you all think of this . . .

    Federici, (Jaaskelainen),
    Lescott, Rafael, Kaboul, (Clyne, Wilson),
Kagawa, Arteta, Piennar, Noble, (El Ahmadi),
    Roons, Tevez, Aguero

    Any suggestions???

Young, Kagawa, Valencia ... rotation risk is definitely keeping a lot of people away. After GW1 he'll spark more interest as people shed their Chelsea coverage and get realistic. Depends if SAF starts him in the first month.

If you wanted money in the bank, you could do Aguero>Tevez and grab Hazard or Mata instead of Siggy. Then Torres to Rooney GW2.

Would give you more DGW coverage, but I don't hate your decision to include both Bale and Siggy.

Looks like a good team to me, but Rooney does get his hat tricks early on in the season. Fear is the reason he's in my squad right now lol.

Repost from bottom of last page:

    Here’s my little lot:

    DDG Federici
Cole Lescott Cuellar Demel Tierney (or other 4.0 def)
    Silva Bale Pienaar Michu Noble
    Bent Torres Petric

2.0 asside for the Torres -> Rooney switch in GW2

Originally had Ramires in for the DGW but with him being called up for the friendly v Sweden, I think there’s a good chance he’ll be rested for the first game. Also had Aguero in and out of my team but whenever he’s in the rest of the team looks a bit underwhelming after downgrades to fit him in so I’m sticking with Silva as my Man City attacking coverage atm.

    Anyway, thoughts?

What are the biggest battles smiles frowns looking like for GW1??

For me it's the Aguero v Tevez battle. Im sticking with the 100% nailed Kun but seeing teams with Tevez & what can be done with the extra cash is playing on my nervs. A Tevez hatrick would have me in tears.

Nasri, Balotelli, nor Silva have played this pre season if I'm not mistaken. Sometimes hard for me to catch the matches state side. But I'm pretty sure that's the case. Tevez looks good to start most matches because of the partnership he and Aguero share. I couldn't give you a percentage. I'm betting on him now though. The 2.5 million I save is so valuable.

question BD.... seen a lot of Lescott -> Clichy suggestions lately. but im just worried that Clitch is just more of a rotation risk compared to Lesc... Even though Kolo is there, i assume Kolo will play more in cup games. What do u think?

I would agree and say Clichy is more of a rotation risk, but I'd be okay with selecting him for the first game week, good price to get into City defense. I'm sticking with Cole for the first week and eventually switching to Lescott later though. Sorry for the late response.

I really have no prob with the def if i were you. It was being talked few pages back that having 3 big hitters at def should be ok, DDG being one of them. So its pretty ideal to play DDG, Lesc, Hangeland (could switch to Cashley or Ivanovic) on the regular and then rotate the 4 - 4.5 def depending on fixtures

I can trade Fabio for Gunter. If i do it, then I can switch Hangeland to Lescott. My defense basically would be:

        DDG

Lescott, Cashley Cuellar (Gunter and Clyne).

Not bad, however i dont know if Gunter is nailed on reading.

I dont really like the idea of having two Reading def if you are planning to rotate, well arguably u already have Fed at goalie. but its a diff story if ur planning to use DDG most of the time.

Need some advice guys. Team is currently a familiar one. 2m in bank for the inevitable torres > rooney

    Jussi (Bego)
    Lescott Cashley Hangeland (Demel Cuellar)
    Noble Hazard Bale Taarabt (Maloney)
    Torres Aguero Graham

My questions to you is should I

    1) Cuellar > Clyne/Fonte to free up .5 needed to do Cashley > Vidic/Baines in gw3. If so, who’s the better pick. Vidic more consistent cleanies but Baines on set pieces, assists and pens.

    2) Swap Bego Jussi Hangeland > Friedel Federici Clyne/Fonte (will leave me with 2m in bank)

      1. No imo. Baines still overpriced, look at last years points. Had one exceptional season. Plus everton start slow. Vidic, maybe, but id prefer an overall stronger squad.

      2. Not sure tbh, can't give an answer as i've not looked at it myself

      1) I wouldn't upgrade Cashley. I'd consider him a down-gradeable part of your squad when bargain DF prospects become clearer and you can safely put an extra 1m or even 1.5m toward the offense (cashley to kaboul, or raphael, or boyce...).

      2) I'd also prefer to stick with the cheaper GK combo, just because it will "force" you by default to invest more in outfield players (assuming you wont want to upgrade a GK after the fact). I'm less confident in this suggestion though... I like Friedel Federici Clyne.

Any news on Chelsea's RB hunt? Or Cashley over Ivanovic anyday?

        Thx NN 😀

Cashley it is I suppose. If Azpi materializes before the season kicks off and comes in at 5.5, would he be CHE's Kaboul?

Hard to say really. If he does come, will he be thrown directly into the starting xi?!? 😐

Yea, although he certainly decreases Ivanovic's appeal. Frankly I'd have Ivan over Cashley if both were nailed on. Would like to keep one of 'em as one of my big hitter (before turning into a LIV/MUN)

y'day spurs played a front 4 of Siggy,Lennon,Bale and Bentley..

I did not see the match, but probably this is how it looked:

    ------Bale------------------------------Lennon-----
    --------------Siggy----------Bentley---------------

    Conclusions to be drawn??

No. Bale CF, up front on his own.

      Bentley - Siggy - Lennon
      - - - - - - - - Bale - - - - - - -

No conclusions to be drawn until VdV comes into the picture.

I don't think VDV is the main man here, Bentley->VDV is simple for AVB..Its about a striker and who they will buy

I am going with three 4.0 defenders to free up my cash elsewhere.
So, McCartney,Fonte & Barnett good choice?
**Not considering Reading coz' I have Federici as No.2.

Btw, How nailed on is Ness? He's OOP & at 4.0 great value for a strong defensive team like stoke city.

Looking forward to your kind suggestions please.

    Which one you like more?

    Keepers DDG / Federici

    a) Cole / Cuellar / Rangel / CLICHY / DEMEL

    b) Cole / Cuellar / Rangel / HANGELAND / S. TAYLOR

First one gives me city defence, but leaves me without great sun/new rotation + hangeland potential.
Second one is not so flexible to changes, altough Cole => city defence is possible, but with all likelihood, I'll have more urgent matters to do in gw3.
