Sky Sports Fantasy Game – Bonus Points Analysis

As mentioned previously, our Fantasy football coverage will also include a weekly article on the Sky Sports game as we look to broaden our analysis of the various games available to Fantasy managers this season. Having already assessed the Rules, the Player List and broken down last season’s Man of the Match awards, the next article analyses the introduction of the new bonus points system, which awards players who make 60+ completed passes and/or 4+ successful tackles in any given Gameweek.

Unlike the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, Sky Sports use Opta data for analysing player performance – making it a perfect accompaniment for our Members section data. For that purpose, we’ve created custom tables in the Members Area which highlights the main protagonists from 2011/12, indicating the respective haul each player would have accrued in bonus points alone were the rule in place last season. These statistics are not available in the Sky Sports game, or anywhere else, giving our members a real edge when it comes to selecting their initial squads.

With two points for 60+ passes and another two points for 4+ tackles, it’s clear that the new bonus system will have a definite impact in how we approach the task of setting up our teams for the season ahead. Bearing in mind that the Points Scoring system allocates five points for a goal or a Man of the Match award and three points for an assist, identifying those players who are capable of producing the bonus points looks almost as vital.

Unsurprisingly, given the bonus criteria, nine of the top ten are midfielders, while Swansea’s passing game under Brendan Rodgers sees as many as three of their players also feature in the upper echelons, with one hovering just outside…

    That Fulham fan on here (forgot his name, but very helpful guy) confirmed that Kaca will start and play in a very advanced role, right? At 4.5 he looks like a bargain, especially with their fixtures.

    Also, looks like Song actually might go. I won't lie, one of the most surprising transfers of the summer.

      The only thoughts I have is that B at least has 1 player (Graham) with Prem experience.

      3 of those 4 never played in Prem, one of the Swansea attackers has to be got ( I like Graham), Although the arse attackers are def proven good players they were at lesser teams last season and we are yet to see how they will adapt to the prem which is notoriously tricky for newcomers (ignoring Cisse and Siggy last winter). So maybe consider other options at similar prices cos there is plenty.

    Player exchange: need help!

    Do i have to select all the people i want to trade in for that gameweek at the start or can I move players in and out during the gameweek?

    Same question with share trades. Can i go max into an Arsenal on Sat then all in City/Chel on Sunday and ManU Mon etc?

      As I understand, it is effectively a GW to GW competition. Changes made intragameweek dont have an effect on scores.

        You can trade as soon as your player has played (or an hour later) but you cant bring in a player who hasnt played yet

    Whoever did the team news on west ham must be high on crack. O Brien has never played left back in his life, if Mccartney is unfit, Taylor will play there. Tomkins at CM? Come on, only in emergencies. No Nolan? he should be fine after his toe problem? Collins? he`ll do well after a hernia op to play ffs. that is bloody awful. To cap it, Noble is not guaranteed any more, in any way, very likely we`ll go 3 across the mid, Diarra, Diame and Nolan. Utter Crap
