Season Predictions 2012/13 – View From The Scouts

Over the last week or so the Fantasy Football Scout fold have been sharing our innermost thoughts with regards to some of the most “Burning Questions” ahead of the new campaign. To accompany our views there, here’s our annual quick-fire round of predictions, where we let you know the players each of us are tipping to shine in a new season…

As our entry from last year will show you we’re prone to making the odd mistake (or seven). Steve Kean, eh? Who would have thought he would still be in a job. Even after he got Blackburn relegated, as half of us rightly predicted.

Here follows our thoughts on the year ahead. Soak it in and then join the discussion and offer your thoughts and counter-comments down below.

Andy, that’s my good self, kicks things off for 2012/13 with what is no doubt a bit of a fancy for one player in particular. And it’s not even Gylfi Sigurdsson. This is almost partisan from our resident all-rounder.

Mark backed Grant Holt last season and, similarly, he’s going with Rickie Lambert to turn up with a similar goal spree. Oh, and he still fancies Leighton Baines. Must be the haircut or the record collection.

    Would you rather start start with Cazorla and nothing in the bank or get a 6.0m mid and keep 3.0 in the bank for RVP?
    Basically if I start with Cazorla I have to take a hit for RVP or wait till GW3 to get him.

      If you're certain that you will get RVP I'd say go with the 6m. I'm probably taking a hit GW2 but the players I'm selling are DGWers, don't think its worth planning a hit otherwise.

        It basically comes down to wether I think Cazorla will outscore the 6.0 mid by 4 points... tricky.

      Home to Fulham! (Who don't travel well!) Not many good captain shouts for GW2 other than Utd players anyway - City away to Liverpool, Arsenal away to Stoke... Tottenham have WBA at home but you're captaining a midfielder or Defoe so...

    I mean surely there was a time when all of you "regs" were new members too? Or is it the case that you've now formed a clique and like a gang of teenage girls at a party, you sneer disparagingly at anyone who walks through the door who you don't know?

    I mean which one of you guys made up the rule about people having to have gravs?

    Is that in the rules/terms and conditions somewhere? Because if it isn't what you're doing is making up your own rules. And then trying to impose them on people who might be perfectly decent but who just won't spend much time on here. Do you not possess the common decency and etiquette to answer them without making them comply to your own made up rules?

    If there is enough of you guys who feel it should be in the rules, approach Mark and the scouts and discuss it. Right now your attitude is one of, despite the fact that it isn't your ball, you're taking it home anyway.

    A consequence of FFS's tie-ins with FPL and now SS is that the website is going to be more popular, I'm afraid. And they are all going to be newbies. 🙂

    I understand the point that the pages fly past too quickly and you chaps would like a decent convo and also that you kinda begrudge sharing the knowledge with people who show up at the last minute but moving on to an old post and every 5 mins posting a link does come across as a bit childish. Can't you answer some of the politely-asked reasonable questions and ignore the obviously dumb authors? I mean there's enough of you.

    You can't stay on one page and naturally, like it has always worked, move on when you want to? You're not obliged to answer anyone. A "them and us" attitude doesn't work either short-term or long-term. This place relies on a sense of shared knowledge. If a large enough section of the forum (the more knowledgable ones) decide they're not going to share with anyone new or not "chosen", I hate to break this to you, it won't work.

    Stick together and talk together by all means but today's kind of behaviour, if it were to continue, may result in splitting this forum into two. And if it happens, it isn't the fault of the newbies who have come along, it'd be yours collectively for coming to such a hastily thought-out, ill judged solution to what should be a temporary rush of RMT's at the start of the season.

    If it doesn't die down and you feel something should be done, discuss it with the scouts. You know, dialogue. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, as it's the start of the season, for not doing it the adult way to begin with.

    I saw words like subterfuge and cunning earlier. Yeah, very famous five. Excuse my french, but the grow the fuck up.

    I hope this isn't a permanent thing because I don't wish to be part of yours or anyone else's clique. This isn't a schoolyard and I'm too old for that kind of shit.

    Anyway, it's just my opinion, nothing more. 🙂 Although it probably qualifies as a rant-y opinion. Oh well.

        Squad looks good to me. Don't know much about Reading in all honesty so can't help you with your Gorkss/Gunter fiasco but really don't think you'll go wrong either way. Valencia SHOULD be nailed on to start imo but with all those options now you never know. Tough to bench any of your starting 11 for Rafa or Noble so I think you got it right.
