The Fantasy Flutter with Paddy Power – Gameweek 10

The midweek Capital One Cup ties lit up our week like a firework. Although some teams fielded second string potential over their star talent, Fantasy football’s movers and shakers were still smashing the goals in. Luis Suarez, Gareth Bale, Eden Hazard and a certain Theo Walcott were all in bloom. The question now is whether the midweek goal avalanche will spill over into our weekend’s Premier League action, or will they all get a “touch of the Sunderland’s”?

As always, our “Flutter” selections demand goals from some of our Scout Picks starlets, so let’s see how kind Paddy have been with the markets we threw their way…

Gareth Bale is yet to “explode” as a Fantasy asset and yet he has still managed three goals and three assists. Opponents are perhaps all too familiar with his by-line dashes and weaving runs into the centre and often double up in an attempt to neutralise the Welshman’s galloping runs. The new dad looks to have taken his game to another level of late, though, dominating much of the midweek tie at Norwich – Spurs’ eventual defeat will leave a bitter taste and with a tired Wigan outfit turning up at the Lane, Bale looks good for returns. We’re going to bite Paddy’s hand off for 4/1 on a Bale goal and a Spurs cleanie in this one, so £6 of our tenner is spent.

Whilst Reading suffered embarrassment to Arsene Wenger’s resurgent youngsters, QPR put their feet up and counted the goals flying in with a wry smile. The R’s now play host to the battered Royals on Sunday, hoping the visit of Brian McDermott’s beleaguered outfit hands them the perfect chance to notch a first league win. Adel Taarabt is backed in the Picks this week and Paddy have the Moroccan to score with a QPR clean-sheet at 11/2. Although at first glance this seems a little skinny, fatigue may well put pounds in our pockets as we place £2 of our tenner on this.

West Brom’s James Morrison finds himself right up there with some of the Fantasy heavyweights this term as he revels in his new attacking role behind the lone striker. The Baggies have collected four clean-sheets, whilst Morrison has profited from three assists and two goals thus far. Scout Pick Morrison is 7/1 to score and help make a fifth clean-sheet on Monday against Southampton, and with stats on our side we’re willing to risk a couple of quid on the longer odd.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

I think so too. they did this last season too.

Cissé is a good striker too and at some point the pendulum is going to swing back in his favour.

I'd have gone for Adel personally. Avoided QPR attackers just in case my FPL jinxing touch has not yet deserted me.

Gambling on Tony V on my WC. Need a solid differential and about time I started a bandwagon rather than continually join them the moment the wheels fall off.

                Hugely in Sasnti's favour.

Then again Rooney v RVP edges it in favour of Roonpig too. Was reading an article last night which suggested similar actually. IE, RVP not worth extra £1.6m over Rooney.

Rdm said yesterday that he had a hamstring strain and was 'very doubtful'. Coupled with a must win cl game coming up and just playing 120 mind it makes him less rather than more likely to play. Gutting for those like me that got him in last sat eve. The price rise is a small consolation tho.

Pie comes in for Mata ... Fine

Davies comes in for Ceullar ... Not fine.

Really need my ft for next week as I must get Ba and need an extra transfer to raise funds for it.

i personally think Mata would still play if not start tho. Swansea ain't a walk in the park tho. especially when they're playing at Liberty.

Really hoping Cuellar is fit. Last week I brought in Wilson and he got injured, this week I've brought in Cuellar and he looks to be injured. Might have to play McCartney against City instead...

Foster. Soton record away is poor. Only scored 1 in last 3 away games, I believe.

Go with Home team. City Struggles for goals. McCartney got two assists in last three games.

Instead of that captaincy dilemma between Bale and RVP, how about Defoe and RVP? Surely, it's gotta be Defoe winning this discussion?!

I don't think so. RVP still better Choice. even between Bale and Defoe. Bale will win.

Might get in early and do Cazorla>Valencia now. I've already took a 4pt hit for mata but Uniteds fixtures are great and Andre Santos is pants.

Think I’m ready to go, not my strongest team for a GW ever but my transfers were made with the longer term in mind:

        Begovic,
        Baines, Cuellar, Nelsen
        Cazorla, Bale, Sterling, Ben Arfa
        Suarez, Berbatov, van Persie

        Jaaskelainen, Hughes, Maloney, Simpson

        Who would you bench?
