The Stock Check

The Stock Check – Gameweek 10 – Saturday Part Two

City’s unbeaten run stretches to 10 games but their toils in front of goal continue, with a goalless draw at Upton Park. Sergio Aguero is handed a sub role yet again, while Andy Carroll draws yet another blank for the hosts:

On the Up

City Defence
This evening’s goalless draw maintained the champions’ recent upturn in defensive resilience. It’s three clean sheets and just one goal conceded in the last four Gameweeks now for Roberto Mancini’s men – the likes of Chelsea and United have one clean sheet apiece in the last six, by comparison.

West Ham Defence
A first clean sheet in six was just rewards for the home side’s resilient efforts. Sam Allardyce will be buoyed by his team’s ability to nullify City’s threat but with Guy Demel still sidelined and James Tomkins missing out through injury, the Hammers boss will be hoping James Collins can shake off a knock which forced him off towards the end, given their upcoming schedule.

Going Down

Sergio Aguero
With a vital Champions League game against Ajax in midweek, Aguero was benched yet again for this evening’s trip to Upton Park. Roberto Mancini started with three of his four forwards and while the Argentine was afforded some game time late on, he has now been omitted from the City first XI in three of the past four Gameweeks – despite his obvious capabilities, Aguero has simply become far too frustrating a Fantasy option right now, with his manager’s up front rotation dramatically curtailing his appeal.

Andy Carroll
His loan move to West Ham, which saw the towering centre-forward reunited with Sam Allardyce, was hailed as the perfect fit. The Hammers’ tactics seemed tailor-made for Carroll, with delivery from wide guaranteed to create chances aplenty in the air but it hasn’t quite transpired as Allardyce would have hoped. Another blank today means Carroll has just one assist in six appearances since making his way to Upton Park.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Seeing the most valuable team is worth 109.8. I wonder what the least valuable team is worth? Probably 70 million at best.

        You can join a few. You would need a good 10 weeks to qualify for the Early Bird though.

    Felliani scores 12 points (With bonus coming) this week while Pienaar scores 2 points. Suddenly, everyone starts getting him then next week, Pienaar scores the goals and Felliani gets just 2 points.

    Pulled the trigger tonight before the price changes on:

    Bertrand --> Nelsen
    Pienaar --> Fellaini

    I can now afford Ba but only if he doesn't rise again. Any chance of that happening after next GW deadline?

    I have a feeling the masses will thrive on Fellaini making him a sort of Mata price rise case. Thoughts?

      Hard to tell when you don't link your team. I'm keeping Gibbs as he is relatively cheap and the fixtures are decent. I sure wasn't expecting them to keep a CS against Manu anyway. But if you don't have any manu defense I would look to Evans before Sagna.

    Somehow climbed again due to the general low average, not sure that'll last beyond today with only Nelsen, Foster and Demba to play.

    Bale providing a dilemma for the next couple of weeks, away games being his forte, but a reshuffle to bring in Ramirez is getting tempting...

    I have Bale, Yaya, Cazorla, Fellaini and Mata in midfield and Berbatov, Ba and crouch in the front..

    I have 2.2 M in the bank as well.. Now since United have some good fixtures, i need to get RVP...so who should i downgrade from these guys?

    I am thinking about Bale or cazorla to downgrade and then crouch to downgrade in order to bring in RVP...suggestions please...

    What happened to the Scouts BP predictions? They were almost spot on most weeks after a while. Mark said they'd stopped because baps were coming out on Saturday nights but it just seems that was a sneaky ploy by FPL for the first 3 weeks to gain traffic.

    Dailymail reporting that S.Taylor will come back in for Williamson and Anita will come in for Simpson..Interesting. Not sure about the latter given Ferguson was looking more likely to rotate with Simpson than anyone else.

        Doing Gallas > Rafael this week personally.
        Spurs have this annoying knack, like Chelsea last season, to concede a late goal and ruin the clean sheet. Rafael and Sagna have the fixtures also + the obvious attacking threat. Sorry William but your time is up.

              Pienaar is no good in a 433 formation. See his stats over the last two games compared to his previous games.

                It's more the fact that Moyes has been fiddling around with his positioning. He's been either on the right or through the middle the last 2 weeks before switching the the left in the last half hour. It's not working either.

                  I have a very similar team to this and thinking Pienaar out could be the route for me as well.

                  I just fear that Pienaar is playing too many minutes as a CM and not charging up the wing and getting into the box like he used to with Baines. Its a real concern and up against a stubborn mon defence next week I'm not feeling confident.

                    Everton always have the better of Sunderland. Always.

                    Mhmm, I looked at the history after someone posted this yesterday and it was something like; 4-0, 3-0, 2-0, 2-0, 7-1
