City’s unbeaten run stretches to 10 games but their toils in front of goal continue, with a goalless draw at Upton Park. Sergio Aguero is handed a sub role yet again, while Andy Carroll draws yet another blank for the hosts:

On the Up

City Defence
This evening’s goalless draw maintained the champions’ recent upturn in defensive resilience. It’s three clean sheets and just one goal conceded in the last four Gameweeks now for Roberto Mancini’s men – the likes of Chelsea and United have one clean sheet apiece in the last six, by comparison.

West Ham Defence
A first clean sheet in six was just rewards for the home side’s resilient efforts. Sam Allardyce will be buoyed by his team’s ability to nullify City’s threat but with Guy Demel still sidelined and James Tomkins missing out through injury, the Hammers boss will be hoping James Collins can shake off a knock which forced him off towards the end, given their upcoming schedule.

Going Down

Sergio Aguero
With a vital Champions League game against Ajax in midweek, Aguero was benched yet again for this evening’s trip to Upton Park. Roberto Mancini started with three of his four forwards and while the Argentine was afforded some game time late on, he has now been omitted from the City first XI in three of the past four Gameweeks – despite his obvious capabilities, Aguero has simply become far too frustrating a Fantasy option right now, with his manager’s up front rotation dramatically curtailing his appeal.

Andy Carroll
His loan move to West Ham, which saw the towering centre-forward reunited with Sam Allardyce, was hailed as the perfect fit. The Hammers’ tactics seemed tailor-made for Carroll, with delivery from wide guaranteed to create chances aplenty in the air but it hasn’t quite transpired as Allardyce would have hoped. Another blank today means Carroll has just one assist in six appearances since making his way to Upton Park.

    Any idea on the best transfer to make? My team is:

    Fed/Foster
    Cole, Haangeland, Wilson, Rangel, Cuellar
    Caz, Bale, Morrison, Maloney, Sterling
    RVP, Tevez, Fletcher

    Thinking of keeping Fletcher, Fed and Cuellar in readiness for the double and getting rid of Cole, Rangel or Wilson. What do you think? I have 1M in the bank. Thanks!

        Not sure, he may be getting back to match fitness, I could swap him for Begovic but I'd then lose 0.7M and wouldn't then be able to do certain transfers like Cole->Baines

            To be honest i think these dgw's are a waste. I doubt i'll buy any sunderland or reading cover, just macanuff and gorkss, who i have, because both of the teams are woeful. Keeping Fletcher could be a mistake, over to two games they will likey only create about 3 chances.

      I'd like to say lose Cole for Sagna, but it looks like others have to take priority. Boring, but Wilson out for another Stoke def looks the first problem to sort.

      Personally I'd be reluctant to keep Fletcher though, even with the double looming.

      I still question the logic of Man U defensive cover. Arsenal were listless yesterday, any team that has a go at Man U are likely to score. I'd stick with the team you have ans save transfer.

        Sold Rafael on my WC last week. Unless he gets assists I can't see a lot of CS points for him.

        Built my def around Baines instead. You know Baines is a much more reliable source of regular points and is on fk's and pens. Like a 5th mid and worth keeping for the season as you know that several Gw's a year he will give you double digit scores.

          rafael's not looked convincing at all defensively. assists and baps is not what fergi is looking for. Had it not been santos, arsenal could have easily exploited united's right side.

    Like everyone I was feeling sorry for myself, with a shitty GW score, but the scouts score made me feel better and normal

    Assuming they picked RVP as captain they would be on 22 points with 4 players to play.

    I am thinking once all the bonus points are in after today, I think anyone round 40 points will be a good score, not the stereotypical 65 +

        Then be... Baines, metersacker, nelson, Clark, Gunter.

        One doesn't play, others are QPR and Villa. Not great options....

        I really want a Rafael.

      Get rid of Mertersacker. Downgrade then bring in stoke or fulham defenders. I wouldnt take a hit for it unless you need to. Do it over 2 weeks. Also get a chelsea mid in instead of Bale imo mata or hazard

          DONT get rid of Caz. When arsenal start sorting things out he will be central to everything they do.He has more shots and chance creations than anyone in the team

    have ivanovic and baines for big price defender....now looking at mu fixture, think i want to add mu defender to the list.....

    a) transfer out one of iva/baines
    b) transfer out other player
    c) just dont get mu defend

    Keep Nollan or sell for a hit for Fellaini? NOllan fixtures are awful beside that STK game, but Fellaini has good next 3 and that not so good. Or I keep Nollan for the STK game and than find alternative

      Im just benching Nolan for away games and playing for example Fellaini next week. Nolan seems to be able to score at home against all teams

        I think it could end up being the other way around. Lower than average scores being good enough.

        There seems to be plenty of people without RVP and/or Bale/Defoe captain.
