As Man United approach an eye-catching run of games which could potentially see Sir Alex Ferguson’s side rack up the Fantasy returns, Wayne Rooney has staked a strong claim for consideration after bagging a brace for the second Gameweek in succession. Rooney’s stock has suffered a significant drop this season due to the arrival of Robin Van Persie but as the campaign unfolds, he’s starting to look a real differential, with many Fantasy managers even considering both forwards for a run of games which sees the Red Devils welcome Sunderland, Newcastle and West Brom to Old Trafford, in addition to trips to Swansea and Wigan in the next five:
Can just make a team this week:
Bego
Mertesacker - Enrique - Nelson - Cuellar
Michu - Fellaini - Sterling
RVP - Suarez - Fletcher
! Foster - ! Mata - ! Lallana - ! Fonte
Is it worth a HIT (-4) to do:
A Mata TO Silva (bench Cuellar)
B Cuellar TO Nastacic
C Cuellar TO Caulker
D Lallana TO Morrison
E Other
F No HIT
Thanks for any advice.....head wrecked!Open ControlsI was going to do Cuellar to Nastasic too but couldn't afford it, so B for me.
Open Controls
Anyone care to offer advice on this:
Jussi
Rafael - Ivanovic - Sagna
Mata - Michu - Fellaini - Walcott
Van P - Tevez - Berbatov
(Bunn, Sterling - Demel - Baker)Open ControlsIvanovic?....lose for GJ or Caulker or ShawX or Nasta?
Open ControlsIvanovic is the top scoring defender, had him since day 1. Loathe to lose him.
Open Controls
I'd play Bunn this week
Open Controlsit's fine. if you only have 1 FT don't use it. If you have two maybe do something with Demel if he's still not going to be playing, but don't waste both.
Open Controlsthanks guys
Open Controls
Let me see if I can make you follow my idea
Would you prefer to have
Cazorla - Rooney - Tevez - Suarez ___ With Cazorla -> Mata GW18
or
Walcott - Rooney - Tevez - Suarez ___ With Suarez -> Torres GW18Open ControlsAre we thinking Rafael is nailed on now? There were worries Jones and smalling could displace him at RB but he looks like the position is his now, doesn't he?
I'm making backup plans for Evans > Rafael if Evans is confirmed out.Open ControlsI think he'll miss one over Christmas, but looks very nailed on. You could get Vidic?
Open ControlsYes he is nailed on. Might get rested for maybe a game during Xmas, but he is undoubtedly and deservedly first choice now. Don't let anyone fool you. Everyone thought he would be dropped v City due to being subbed off at 30mins the game prior. That's because he IS first choice that he was subbed, to ensure Utd had their starting right back available for the biggest game in the EPL fixture list.
Open ControlsThe sub off didn't put me off. Definitely first choice, just not completely nailed on, could always be rested. His attacking points should more than compensate for the odd rest
Open ControlsMight not have put you off but definitely put off a majority of posters. Everyone was I'm panic saying he's going to be dropped for Smalling and Jones and he won't get to play again. He has made the position his own for this season and its his to lose.
Open ControlsYep you're right there - very impressed with his maturity.
Open Controls
What is the first Goalkeeper of Southampton? Gazzaniga or Davis?!!!?
Open Controlswell it was gazz but he was injured so davis stepped in this GW.
Open ControlsI assume you mean 'first choice goalkeeper', as their first goalkeeper was most likely back in 1885.
Gazzinga is the current first choice keeper, but he was injured last weekend, so Davis played. I'd avoid bringing in either, tbh, as they have a blank this week.Open Controls
Pondering Suarez vs Rooney (I already have RVP).
Suarez is at home to villa this weekend, but is this as easy a fixture as it first looks? Last season Lambert got the better of Rodgers tactically in both Norwich-Swansea matches (Norwich won both) and I can see him doing a number on Liverpool too. Potential for goals for both teams though.
Sunderland are awful at the moment, but they can park the bus quite well sometimes, so the Utd game this weekend might be low scoring. I don't know, what do Sunderland fans think about this match?
Looking further ahead, both Liverpool and Utd have 3 home games in the next 5. But in the weird/difficult post-Christmas fixtures (weeks 19 and 20, 26th and 29th Dec) Suarez is away at Stoke and QPR while Rooney is at home to Newcastle and WBA, both teams struggling at the mo. That is almost enough to swing it for me.Open ControlsWhich is better? (I have RVP already)
A. Valencia, Bale, Defoe
B. Gomez, Dempsey, RooneyOpen ControlsA but without Valencia.
Michu, Fellaini, HBA, SnodgrassOpen Controls
Is the Sunderland game on tv tonight!?
Open ControlsNo. Bradford v Arsenal in the league cup is the only game on.
Open ControlsFFS I only captained Sess to have something to watch tonight
DAMN YOU SKY SPORTSOpen ControlsI still don't understand how the UK doesn't get all the games on TV?
Here in Singapore I pay about £25 a month and every game is shown live (on multiple channels) when more than one game is on.
Seems crazy that you can't even see the games in the UK.....Open ControlsSunderland Reading will be on ESPN.
The Saturday 3 O'clock matches are the only ones not shown on any channel, and that is so that it does not compete with lower league ticket sales. Encourage people to go outside and support their local team at the actual ground.Open Controlson this basis, they could at least show every wigan game
Open ControlsBut some people might watch the Wigan match instead of going to the MK Dons match for instance. Its assumed that Wigan can look after themselves, albeit not true.
Open Controls
That is a bit ridiculous then
Open Controls
PSG on ESPN at 6 :9
In Ireland with skyand we get ESPN for free here which is nice
The early and late sat games are always on then the 3pm games are SS news...
Sunday games there is usually at least 1 on and MNF thought they may show the Sundy game though 🙁Open Controls
It's really not that surprising. The clubs needs to fill their stadiums and they are not going to do that if every game is on Sky. Living in Singapore means you're not going to be getting to the games any time soon and they can tap into the Eastern market by showing you all the games.
Open ControlsHow do you people watch the 3pm kick offs live then? There are a lot of matches at that time.
Open ControlsAnd you still have to pay to watch it!
Open ControlsStill think it's bonkers.......no everyone can get to the games.
Reckon Sky would make a fortune if they showed all the games......way more subscriptions from people who currently sit on the fence (because it doesn't seem worth it to get not every game).
Don't think it would affect attendances as much as people think. Think of all the Utd fans in London and Newcastle fans in Bristol etcOpen ControlsIf you have time to watch the match on tv you have time to go to a match.
I am an Arsenal and Barnet fan. I go to see Barnet whenever they play at home, but if Arsenal were on tv then maybe I wouldnt.Open ControlsYeah fair one, but still think there are loads of people who would never go to the matches live, but would happily pay to watch on TV.
A Chelsea fan in Brighton for example.Open ControlsA Chelsea fan in Brighton would quickly become a Brighton fan if they genuinely liked football.
Although this being Chelsea they're probably just a glory hunting ********Open Controls
Lads quick question, am determined to have RVP, Suarez and Rooney. 2 FTs...Ba and Walcott to Rooney and Snodgrass.
Would give me...
Federici (save points vs Arsenal)
Enrique - Huth - Nelsen
Michu - Felliani - Cazorla - Snodgrass
RVP - Rooney - Suarez
Subs : Puncheon, Clyne, Cuellar
opinions?Open ControlsSeems fine
Open ControlsSnodgrass is a 2-3 week gamble although when i was working all this out last night, I also thought about Sterling but 1) Liverpool overkill and 2) rotates poorly with Puncheon
Open Controlshome/away rotation with regards to snodgrass is a ridiculous idea, look at his scores
Open Controls
Priority for me is definitely to have guaranteed starters in defence.
I have Baines Bardsley Sagna Evans Demel with the latter three having various degrees of uncertainty.
Just wondering how to get nailed on Liverpool/United/Arsenal coverage for those unreliables. Lots in bank.Open ControlsI'm doing Cuellar to Skrtel this week. I think he's decent value at 5.9
Open ControlsConsidered him but figure I might as well go for the beastly attacking runs of GJ. He's as nailed on I think.
Open Controls
Hehe like the name, am considering but even with Kompany out Mancini could just piss us off rotating with Toure /Lescott
Open Controls
Isn't this week just another week where everyone thinks nobody other than Rooney and RVP can score goals in the league?
Round Score
Torres 16
Holt 14
Rooney 12
Rodallega 7
Van Persie 6
Jelavic 6
Tevez 6
Cisse 5
Vellios 4
The only strikers that scored this week
Torres (Blank next week, lack of faith from FPL managers)
Holt (Norwich...not convincing enough)
Rodallega (He's no Berbatov)
Jelavic (Why buy him when you have Fellaini)
Tevez (rotation risk)
Cisse (Plays for QPR)
Velios (What?)
So basically you only have RVP and Rooney who anyone would be interested in. Hence why everyone thinks a double up is THE best idea ever this week as SURELY every week is going to be like this for the next 5/6 weeks. This is classic knee-jerking in my opinion.Open ControlsNo, as Peppin said in the last page, they are the highest scoring striker pair since GW7. Took this week's game to convince people. Risky but good till Jan WC. Not knee jerking I think.
Open ControlsKagawa
Open ControlsWhat do you mean? In what way will his return impact either of those two? You think Fergie could go back to the diamond again?
Open ControlsSome how Kagawa is going to get back in the team, and its going to ruin the partnership one way or another. The main point is that whats happened since GW7 proves nothing about the future.
Open Controlsmm.. Interesting. Kagawa certainly prefers playing in the hole too.
Open Controls
Let them do it and good luck to them genuinely. I suspect most won't go through with it though and those that do will have been better off spending in other parts of their team.
Open ControlsThere is no value in defence though Baines has become a waste of money
Open ControlsDon't get that argument he'd be 9th in list of midfielders and all above him cost more apart from Nolan whose form has turned to crap. And thats after baines loss of value.
Surely to maximize your score you have to spread your budget and risk across the team, not just buy the best two players in the game. And that is assuming Rooney and rvp will be the two top players in the game which is highly unlikely IMO.Open Controls+1
Bassong would also be the 9th best midfielder, but guess what he is cheaper than Baines and only has two points less. This says far more about the relative value of different areas of the team rather than about Baines. Compare like for like.Open ControlsBassong has scored 3 goals in the last 4 games though, he is almost literally on fire and clearly this run will end. Baines has been disappointing by most peoples reckoning and is still 2pts off being the best defender.
Open Controls
I just think that Michu, Fellaini and (Punch/Sterl) gives such good value that the forwards become the best position to sink funds into. Best place to maximise your points with poor value high-scoring players.
Open ControlsAgreed espeially If you got Fellaini Sterling Michu early. It's hard not to start Michu and Fellaini every week.
Open ControlsBoth fair enough but what if utd stop scoring 3 or more goals a game or Rooney and rvp aren't scoring the goals. And which of the two are you going to pick as captain?
Next few fixtures look good so now is the time if you're going to do it but I don't expect them to be getting 20pts between them every week which is what people will be expecting.Open ControlsThis^
Basically everyone will be moaning continuously about one of them letting them down. It's enough to have an RVP fail...imagine having 25.6m invested in both and they both failed?
Can you imagine the anger, frustration and feeling of humiliation? Man Utd have shown they are prone to the odd bad performance and have struggled to score against some teams (West Ham/Norwich/Everton) Who is to say they won't have the same problems over xmas? It's a massive gamble to go for both imo.Open ControlsWell if you don't expect them to get enough to warrant their inclusion, why would you have either in your team?
Open ControlsExactly. If they are going to score similarly, then if you want one why is having both so ridiculous?
Open ControlsFear of doubling up because of inability to consider player prospects as individual distributions 😉
Open ControlsNot saying they won't warrant inclusion individually but I'd rather spread the risk in other teams. Loss of form of either or other players in the utd team for that matter could affect them both.
Also personally I think rvp will outscore Rooney significantly but could be wrong. Guess we'll have to see who is right in the coming weeks, I look forward to watching utd play if you're all correct 🙂Open ControlsWhat you are effectively saying is Rvp and Rooney will be the top two scoring strikers for the next few weeks. Manutd can only score a fixed amount of goals and we think spending that amount of money on a single team is not good. When there are alternatives like Suarez , Ba who can score just as many points as any one of those two. Not to mention the price of those two.
Open Controls
michu, fellaini and puncheon/sterling do provide great value but is it really worth having rooney at the expense of a mata, bale, santi or silva when you already have RVP. i personally don't think so..
Open ControlsWe are restricted by the fact we have to bnch one of out front 8. By getting Mata over Rooney, you'd be leaving a 5m player rotting on the bench. Wasted value imo, turn it into rotation and spend the money on players you start every game.
Open ControlsWhat's wrong with a 5m player rotting on the bench? Having Rooney and RVP is wasted value if you look at their price tags and the alternatives. You also lose entire access to another good teams attack in Chelsea by going with this idea. It's probably easier for you because you are a Man Utd fan to double up I'd imagine.
Open Controls
Since when is getting in a proven big hitting forward in great form knee-jerking? He has shown in the past he tends to go on scoring streaks so in the lead up to the Jan WC, it looks like a brilliant options. Also there are very few mid-priced forwards doing the business currently, but plenty of mid priced mids like Michu and Fellaini where the savings can be made.
Open ControlsI just don't believe...going by previous results...that having Rooney AND RVP is the right plan. Last 2 weeks...ok it's been gold. But you are still limiting yourself by spending this much in attack. In my honest opinion a better tactic is to go with one of them and stick by your decision. If you believe Rooney will rival and outscore RVP then buy Rooney and reap the rewards of having a differential.
Open Controls
Vellios (Has shit hair)
Open ControlsTorres holt and rodallega front 3 is the way to go I think
Open Controlswho are you trying to convince? If you don;t like the idea of doubling up don;t do it.
Open ControlsNot trying to convince anyone of anything. Just putting perspective on things. What I've posted above is exactly why people want to have double Man Utd strikers. In the hope that most weeks will be like this and that other candidates just aren't up to the task...Therefore splurge your money on two strikers in the same team.

You DecideOpen ControlsIntending to do Cuellar to Shorey to free up enough for following week's Johnson to Bale. That gives me the exact amount. Thing is, I will be benching Shorey this week anyway if I bring him in, but the question is: would you do it this week anyway?
Open Controlswhittaker
Open ControlsRonnie Stam@ 3.8. He plays in the Boyce position I believe. Though you may have to research as to how nailed on he is in the future.
Open ControlsNelson, Clyne & Demel are very ownable, IMO.
Open ControlsMariappa?
Open Controls
How can people get RVP, Rooney & Suarez in their team, rest of the squad must be chuff?
Mind you it helps that Michu and Fellaini are both mid-price, but even so....Open ControlsMichy Fella, rotate Sterling who you got under 5 with Punch. and 1 big hitter.

Michu, Felliani, Cazorla (soon to be Mata), Puncheon and (soon to be either Snodgrass or Sterling).

RVP, Rooney and Suarez up top.

Does anyone think that Dempsey will be a viable option once everyone is fit at Spurs?
If AVB is serious about playing 442 then surely it would be Demps to drop out.
Tempted to bring him in for WalcottOpen ControlsAVB says he sees Demps as a striker but I agree he's not 100% nailed on. From what I've seen of Ade though he's been dreadful.
Open Controls
I will be so annoyed when the team sheets come out and Fletcher is not in sight. Those who captained him all seem to have VC that did something, and first subs with 5-10 points. Just the sort of luck that NEVER comes my way
Open ControlsHe only has 7.1% ownership...
Open ControlsThat's good to know at least, from the numbers on here I assumed it would be more. Just a personal fume for me then as my H2H rival has him and is the luckiest bloke I know!
Open Controls
I have RVP vc and I'm hoping that Fletch starts. Think we'll beat Reading tonight.
Open Controls
Michu Fellaini Puncheon Sterling. The words on everyone's lips...
Open ControlsIt's a nice midfield but it doesn't give you any flexibility if you suddenly want the likes of Mata, Bale, Silva or Cazorla.
Open ControlsNot if you want more than one of them, no (there is budget to have one heavy hitter). It's a bet that michu and Fellaini are heavy hitters, basically
Open Controls
Dare I say "template" 🙂
Open ControlsAs trying to avoid that 😆
The timing couldn't have been sharper. Just when you might want to free up funds by downgrading to Puncheon he doesn't have a fixture.
Looking at this 'template' my only regret is not getting some earlier. I got Sterling very early (GW3 I think), Puncheon early, got Michu in early (GW2) sold for some bad fixtures and got punished but got him back last week only. Fellaini I waited so long because I had pienaar. Never again.Open ControlsI'm even thinking Giroud + Lallana –> Rooney + Puncheon (-4) 😆 even though he doesn't have a fixture. Problem is I will have 0 left in the bank and Rooney is bound to rise so I can't do it for free... 😐
Open ControlsHmmmmm. There must be a better way. I think in practice Puncheon will not be both in your team and scoring too often. There must be an alternative with a decent fixture this week at a similar price.
Open Controls
My front line is RVP, Suarez, Berba.
Should I keep Berbatova?? And any idea about when Ruiz will return?Open ControlsKeep Berba. Ruiz back in 3 weeks.

Is it ok not to have arsenal attack cover?
Thinking of mata > puncheon then Lefondre>Torres
Crazy move?Open ControlsIt's refreshingly different. Why not? Would reconsider selling Mata though perhaps.
Open ControlsMata and Torres seem to play well off each other, so maybe they're in with a chance of knocking the ManU Striker-Midfielder-in-the-hole + Striker pair off its current pedestal? 😉
Open Controls
Can Baird (Fulham) a good bet in FPL?
Yerterday, he think that he played a midfield and only cost 4.4!Open ControlsJust make 3 transfer( for -4points)
1.Fletcher -> Suarez
2.Walcott -> Snodgrass
3.Mignolet -> Cerny(QPR)
Is my Transfer bad or good?Would love to hear camment from it..
My latest team:
Begovic (cerny)
Shawcross,nelsen,jose enrique,nastasic (ivanovic)
Snodgrass,santi caz,michu (bale,kacaniklic)
Suarez, tevez, berbatov.Open ControlsI would start Bale, there's every chance he will play. And if he's not ready to play, he won't be in the squad, so wouldn't expect a cameo
Open Controlstake it the keeper was to free up cash, otherwise why? could ride out any keeper till jan WC, not going to be a dramatic difference between keepers over next few weeks
Open Controls
What d'you think of this defence? Where to upgrade/downgrade?
Enrique; Rafael; Mertesacker; Shorey; Davies
