Season Predictions 2013/14 – The View From The Scouts

We wanted to post this before deadline this morning but, due to our technical issues, we were unable to take that opportunity. Rather than waste the chance to embarrass ourselves, however, we thought we’d stick these up this evening, regardless.

Last season many of us were left red-faced thanks to our terrible predictions for the 2012/13 season.

I was left particularly embarrassed with my now laughable assertion that Charles N’Zogbia would be last season’s best differential. Meanwhile Granville’s predictions that Sam Alladyce would be the first boss to bite the bullet and Shinji Kagawa would be the season’s top assister also failed to materialise.

Credit though went to Anorak for correctly predicting that Michu would be the year’s star budget midfielder. Hard to believe the attacking midfielder was initially priced at just 6.5m at the start of last season. Mark’s prediction that Rickie Lambert would shine in the budget forward category also proved correct.

But enough of last year, here’s our thoughts on the season ahead for you to bookmark and use to embarrass/congratulate us as the season progresses.

Moderator Evs knows all about Top 5s, he was a top 5 player at the end the FPL 2012/13 season and was even in with a shout of winning the competition on the final day. Will his experience reap dividends when it comes to predicting the 2013/14 season?

Maybe, I thought I did bad with 28 points! Currently have Hazard (c), Lukaku, Terry, Benteke (vc) and Soldado still to play. Boruc points to come off bench also. So currently sit on 34 points with 5 players to play 8 matches hopefully.

Who's rmt favoured captain for gw2?

He roamed around a bit, seemed to be in the thick of things a few times round the goal area. He tried a flick header in the box which was nice, but it sailed wide. Cheeky! But Coutinho (especially) or Sturridge are the Pool offensive assets to own I reckon.

    on the rvp question;
i think we can all agree that if rvp was 12mil, he's be in pretty much everyone's team.
so at 14mil, you only need to save ,5mil on 4 players to fund the extra 2mil. or 1 option who's 2mil less than a potential first option. it's all about picking suitable players elsewhere in your 15 man squad.
value is all well and good, but first and foremost the game's about points

    Transferring question.

Do you play the price rise game to build value to your team even if it means selecting someone who you know wont repeat the same performance every week (ie migs) ORR do you just pick players who you think will do well and hope for a bandwagon to jump on?

Still, he's a very good attacking full back in a decent team. He had 5 assists last year in just a little over 2000 minutes, that's an excellent return for a defender.
Everton might be more leaky than under Moyes, but Howard Jags/Distin aren't just going to turn into a sieve because of the new manager IMO.

Can't agree with that at all. He actually attacked far more than Baines today, and it is hasty to assume Martinez lacks defensive nous. He has a far better calibre of defensive options to work with both at the back and in midfield than at Wigan.

I didn't say he wouldn't attack, just said he's not OOP. But maybe they will play 3-4-3 at home. And you are right about it being hasty to assume that. I just think his attacking style means they have less clean sheet potential than before.. although I am keeping an eye on that. Coleman still probs the best 5m defender unless Toure is nailed on.

Fingers crossed his racks up the points. Coleman won't rise tonight so it is safe to wait.
