The ScoutCast – Episode 110 – Cosmo

He’s well travelled. He’s multi-lingual. He’s just 19 points behind me. Despite my best start to a Fantasy Football season in living memory, Granville is right on my tail. In this latest episode of the ScoutCast, Granville takes delight in taunting me by wrapping his tongue around every “Pochettino” with ease, leaving me to struggle like Paul Merson with a mouth ulcer.

In between the mispronunciations, myself and the “cosmopolitan Manc” get heated about Robin Van Persie, rinse through the Gameweek 1 bandwagons, preview the weekend’s action and welcome the flying start made by this season’s ScoutCast team. It’s breathless stuff, squeezed into a low fat 40 minutes.

Who would you rather for the next 3 GWs?

1) Dzeko - Cardiff (Away), Hull (Home), Stoke (Away)
or
2) Soldado - Swansea (Home), Arsenal (Away), Norwich (Home)

Dzeko 2 x away 1 x home and rotation risk. Soldado 2 x home 1 x away and nailed on.

  unless you have the ability to bench him, and benteke is in good form but soldado has arguably a better fixture and just scored two in the europa league.
  
  i am thinking soldado could get subbed off in the 70th for defoe to rest him a bit though, whereas if villa score it is likely to be benteke.

I don't really want to captain Soldado as I am not quite convinced yet..
Benteke is an option, but he is against Mignolet so I don't want him scoring too much..
Which leaves me with: Walcott, Lambert or Coutinho

        Liverpool are a strong side defensively. I don't think he'll explode, but as the odds reflect, there's every chance he'll nick a goal/assist.

Here's my brief opinion on the Man City forward dilemma.

I think that Negredo/Jovetic will be used predominantly for CL games throughout the season (assuming that they get through the group stage...) as they're proven strikers in other European leagues, with the technical ability and style of play to be effective against teams from Spain/Italy.

At the same time, Dzeko and Aguero are proven in the EPL and have the more physical qualities needed to break through the likes of Stoke/Norwich etc. If I was Pellegrini, I'd be giving these 2 regular prem starts at least for the early season, and bed the other 2 in with some European games.

Likewise I think that, until he takes the league by storm, Navas will be much more under threat from the Nasri rotation than Silva will be. Although admittedly it does make them very narrow if Silva and Nasri play together.

the likely lads for armband consideration this week:

benteke
pros - on penalties, center of villa attack, very strong and difficult to deal with, just scored against arsenal and chelsea away, pool defense is better at home than it is away
cons - villa have a much better conversion rate on the road than at home, the toure factor (outlined in hot topics)

soldado
pros - on penalties, main main in spurs attack, scored two goals midweek, playing a potentially tired swansea team, swansea are often poor travelers defensively
cons - also played on Thursday so could be tired

walcott
pros - Stekelenburg and Richardson are out, on his day can really cause defenders problems with his pace
cons - arsenal can randomly disappoint, arsenal played midweek and then have first kickoff, arsenal, arsenal offensively better at home than away

sturridge
pros - playing a villa defense that has often leaked goals, pool are offensively better on the road
cons - villa's defense seems to have tightened up a bit
