Breaking the Template – Part Two

We roll out the second part of our series today, having looked at the overall state of play in yesterday’s opening piece.

First of all, we’d like to elaborate a little further on yesterday’s article as judging by a few of the comments, our intentions seem to have been somewhat clouded.

In Part One, we looked at the top 10 managers in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game so far and, taking the most popular players from their teams, analysed what has rapidly become the template for Fantasy success in the opening seven Gameweeks.

We then looked at the transfer trends across the board over the last few days to show that hundreds of thousands of Fantasy managers are drafting in these same template players. Obviously, they have become template for a reason (they have returned points) but, put simply, our argument was that if we continue to draft in the same small group of players that those above us already have, we are lessening the chances of gaining ground.

Those who already have the template are obviously not going to change overnight (due to its success) so it’s left to those managers doing the chasing to assess when and how to look for alternative options – as the new world number one showed last week, his decision to draft in Southampton skipper Adam Lallana made all the difference.

In order to clarify, and support the theory that this template seems to be in place regardless of a team’s overall standings, we’ve taken a random sample of 20 active FPL managers listed below (rank in brackets):

Team 1 (886,000), Team 2 (2,699,000), Team 3 (1,276,000) Team 4 (864,000), Team 5 (550,000), Team 6 (621,000), Team 7 (133,000), Team 8 (1,287,000), Team 9 (745,000), Team 10 (769,000), Team 11 (2,169,000), Team 12 (132,000), Team 13 (1,590,000), Team 14 (1,400,000), Team 15 (406,000), Team 16 (1,227,000), Team 17 (558,000), Team 18 (2,592,000), Team 19 (2,048,000), and Team 20 (1, 395,000).

Analysing the 15-man squads of the above sides, the following 3-4-3 formation is brought about by listing the most popular players per position.

GK: Simon Mignolet (14 teams)
DEF: Pablo Zabaleta (15), Seamus Coleman (11), Branislav Ivanovic/Leighton Baines/Jose Fonte (8 apiece)
MID: Aaron Ramsey (17), Yaya Toure, Ross Barkley and Hatem Ben Arfa (10 apiece)
FOR: Olivier Giroud (15), Daniel Sturridge (14), Romelu Lukaku (6)

Comparing that to the 3-4-3 template amongst the top 10 is revealing:

GK: Boruc/Mignolet
DEF: Terry/Ivanovic, Fonte, Baines
MID: Ramsey, Toure, Barkley, Michu
FWD: Sturridge, Giroud, Lukaku

Only three players in the top 10 template covered in part one are not highlighted in the template squad put together from our random sample of teams – Artur Boruc, John Terry and Michu.

This provides further evidence to suggest that, right through the player classifications and regardless of overall rank, FPL squads have become, and are still becoming, increasingly similar. In seasons gone by we have seen template midfields or identical frontlines, however, so far this season, the template seems to even more riged and, to some extent, is covering all four positions.

Obviously, as time unfolds and others start scoring, the situation – and, therefore, our transfer targets – will change; that only stands to reason. The current lull in domestic matters affords us the chance to assess the lay of the land so far and look at ways to pre-empt this, in the hope of stealing a march on our opponents. Here’s some of the scenarios and strategies to consider:

City’s Goal Potential

Top scorers in the league with 17 strikes, Manuel Pellegrini’s side have notched at least seven times more than all but two sides thus far. An unexpected goalless draw against Stoke in Gameweek 4 is the only stain on a record which has seen City score at least two goals in every match – while Yaya Toure’s 36% owners may be reluctant to double up, those without the Ivorian could look to fit-again duo Sergio Aguero or David Silva as a route into Pellegrini’s side.

Back after a hamstring injury, Silva – who is now cheaper than Toure at 9.3 to 9.4 – has scored or assisted in three of his four appearances this season and seems to have struck a greater consistency under the new man in charge. Aguero has started every match he has been fully-fit for (he was benched at Stoke as a precaution) and sits third in the FPL forward standings in 40 points – indeed, with 39 points from five starts, the 9.95 owned Argentine has registered just under eight points per appearance in the first XI. Alvaro Negredo has also remained under the radar. He’s started each of the last four league games and sits fifth amongst forwards, yet has an ownership less than 5%. Even at the back, City offer real differential appeal – Aleksandar Kolarov, so often a source of Fantasy frustration, currently sits in just 1% of teams (compared to Pablo Zabaleta’s 32%) but has now started each of the last five Gameweeks.

Swansea’s Fixture List

The fixtures suggest Michael Laudrup’s side could be set for a prosperous next few Gameweeks. Over the next five matches, the Welsh outfit entertain Sunderland, West Ham and Stoke and also pay visit to Cardiff and Fulham – every one of these matches offer the potential of Fantasy points at both ends of the park. While Michu is the obvious candidate here, the Spaniard – with 17% ownership – is far and away the most popular option amongst Laudrup’s charges, leaving the rest mainly overlooked.

With Ashley Williams currently a major doubt with an ongoing ankle complaint, Chico offers a secure route into the Swansea backline – at 5.0 in FPL, he sits in just 1% of sides right now and, as our BPS members piece highlighted, could be set to benefit if the Swans bring home clean sheets. If Pablo Hernandez can recover from a hamstring complaint, he’s another worth considering – priced at just 5.9 now, he racked up 20 points in three appearances before limping into the treatment room; earlier today, the Spaniard revealed he could be back in contention for next weekend’s game against Sunderland.

Finally, Wilfried Bony could be a real option for our three-man frontlines if he can persuade Laudrup he is ready to become a regular. The Swans boss still reckons the Ivorian needs more time to adapt but such a run of fixtures look tailor-made for the summer signing to finally make a real impact – at just 7.5 now, with an ownership under 5%, Bony could be worth a shout for those looking to shake up the Sturridge-Giroud-Lukaku template front three.

Chelsea’s Goalscoring Defenders

Jose Mourinho’s side are about to embark on a run which sees them square up to eight of the current bottom 10 in the next 11 Gameweeks. The goal threat of John Terry, Branislav Ivanovic and David Luiz could well come to the fore and may well prove the most reliable source of points, given Mourinho’s tinkering further up the field.

Certainly, Terry and Ivanovic have been mainstays under Mourinho thus far but Luiz has finally edged Gary Cahill onto the bench after recovering from a hamstring injury. The Brazilian has, by far, the lowest ownership of the three – he currently sits in 8% of FPL teams, compared to Ivanovic’s 29% and Terry’s 12%, and is also the cheapest of the trio at 6.1. Nonetheless, Luiz is still prone to the occasional first XI omission and has skipped one of the last four Gameweeks.

A couple of his compatriots are also likely to come under consideration – while Oscar (8.8, 14% owned) has proved the best route into the Blues attacking midfield trio, Ramires is very much an under the radar option. As highlighted in a recent KPI article, the 6.4 priced midfielder – with a 4% ownership) has very strong underlying stats which hint at potential future returns and, having started all Chelsea’s league games so far, seems far less liable to rest and rotation than many of his more expensive team-mates. Juan Mata is now down to 9.6 and is owned by less than 5% – if he can retain his starting berth, the Spaniard could be an ideal option, though Mourinho’s selection policy has shown this comes with a degree of risk attached.

Monitor the Treatment Rooms

Over the next few weeks, we should start to see the return from injury of a handful of players that have the potential to shake up the pecking order right across the categories. Arguably the two most explosive are Christian Benteke and Theo Walcott, with the Belgian already making a real impact with four goals in his first four appearances before limping off in Gameweek 5 away to Norwich. Benteke is now priced at 8.8 and is down to 12% ownership after being sold by over 876,00 managers – his imminent return is sure to persuaded plenty to come calling, whilst Walcott sits at 9.2, with less than 5% of managers currently holding the Arsenal winger.

Elsewhere in the Arsenal midfield, Santi Cazorla will also offer an alternative to Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey, while over at Anfield, Philippe Coutinho and Glen Johnson are edging their way towards a return – the latter, down to 5.8, is owned by less than 5% of FPL managers. Hull’s Robbie Brady has been sold on by over 42,000 after his hernia operation – the midfielder is now down to 8% ownership and, if he’s ruled out for another week or two, could drop further from his current price of 5.2.

Look for Out of Position Switches

At the start of the season, Roberto Martinez’ arrival at Everton brought plenty attention Kevin Mirallas’ way. A move to the Toffees front three looked potentially prosperous but, while the Belgian has yet to find the net, he’s offered plenty goal threat which should reap reward and has fired 10 shots from inside the area. Now down to 7.2, and owned by less than 3% of FPL managers, Mirallas is a prime example of an out of position contender worth monitoring. Hatem Ben Arfa has already highlighted the potential in such a scenario at Newcastle but seems to have fallen out of favour after a series of under-par displays.

Stoke’s new boy Marko Arnautovic is another name who has picked up interest on site. Classified as a midfielder across the Fantasy games, the Austrian (priced 5.5, 0.3% owned) was shifted to the lone forward role against Fulham last week and had seven attempts on goal at the Cottage. Chelsea’s Andre Schurrle – to a lesser extent – is another case in point. The German was fielded up front against United in Gameweek 2 and, although he’s been shifted back to the flank, Schurrle (costing 7.4, 0.7% owned) has now started four of the last five league games. Martin Jol’s recent hint that Darren Bent is likely to be a bench-warmer for Fulham could be good news for Dimitar Berbatov’s prospects – the Bulgarian (who is now down to 7.1 with a 4.4% ownership) looks set to lead the line once again after dropping deep to accommodate the on-loan Villa man.

Keeping an eye on those managers who tend to tinker tactically more than most is key, too. Paul Lambert and Brendan Rodgers have both rolled out 3-5-2 formations this term – Antonio Luna was fielded on the left of midfield for Villa, while Jose Enrique has taken up a similar position for Liverpool. If Rodgers retains the position when Glen Johnson returns, the right-back’s appeal will certainly be heightened.

Embrace the Breakthrough Acts

As Ross Barkley was quick to show us, there’s potential to be had in the cut-price bracket from emerging talents this year. Many doubted the Everton youngster could retain his first-team place, never mind continue the exploits which harvested a 10-point return in Gameweek 1 – those who jumped on board quickly have seen Barkley pick up 36 points so far and rise from 4.5 to 5.5.

Only last week, another couple of highly-rated youngsters arrived on Fantasy radars after excelling for their respective sides. Ravel Morrison and Adnan Januzaj both hogged the headlines after double-figure returns for West Ham and United – given their respective displays, it’s difficult to see either player being shifted to the bench. Morrison has now started each of the last four under Sam Allardyce and seems to have established a regular role – he currently sits at 4.4, with an ownership of 2.3%, while Januzaj is priced at 4.7 and currently resides in 4% of Fantasy teams. Given that those who already have the likes of Barkley, Aaron Ramsey and Yaya Toure in place will be less inclined to gamble on their midfields, those budget options could prove invaluable for those of us looking for something different.

Assess Poyet’s Impact at Sunderland

Sunderland’s form and fixtures are enough to deter most but the installation of a new manager could see an about-turn in their Fantasy fortunes. Currently, only two of the Black Cats outfield players have an ownership in excess of 2%, leaving the likes of Adam Johnson (6.7 priced, 1.8% owned), Emanuele Giaccherini (6.7, 1.6%), Craig Gardner (5.5, 0.1%) and Jozy Altidore (6.5, 0.7%) as the likeliest contenders until Steven Fletcher recovers from a dislocated shoulder. Johnson has created 16 goalscoring opportunities this season – second most impressive for midfielders – while only four midfielder have registered more shots inside the box than Giaccherini’s nine; an indication of the Italian’s goal threat. If Poyet can make an immediate impact, games against Newcastle, Hull and Stoke in the next five could provide points.

Be Brave with the Armband

So far this season, the overall lack of returns from big-hitters has meant that picking a captaincy contender has been a little trickier than ever. Robin Van Persie continues to remain the armband favourite in almost every Gameweek but while the Dutchman has failed to replicate last term’s form, those plying their trade for the teams near the top have also stumbled when it comes to producing explosive performances .

Listed in order of Gameweek, the team with the highest scoring player has been: Villa, Cardiff, Swansea, Tottenham, Everton, Everton, West Ham – arguably, only one of those occasions (Christian Benteke in Gameweek 1) was perhaps anticipated due to Villa’s double Gameweek.

With Daniel Sturridge, Romelu Lukaku and Olivier Giroud established joining Van Persie as the top four most owned forwards, it leaves the likes of Sergio Aguero, Wayne Rooney and Luis Suarez as serious alternatives in any given Gameweek. Fraizer Campbell’s showing against City in Gameweek 2 and Loic Remy’s two sets of 13-point hauls in the last three fixtures indicates the points potential on offer from the lesser-fancied frontmen for those looking to take a real punt.

Wow, looks like the John Terry guy actually got a team. If at first you don't succeed....

Happy for the guy though, clearly wants to be involved very badly.

just redmond to barkley would have been my move, but if adnan played for the team i supported it would change things

in conclusion, not the worst moves but i'd bet against you making your hit back this week

How did you select these particular teams for your sample, none of which are in the top 100,000?

Wouldn't it have been simpler to just look at the most selected players for all teams?

This would give the following squad:

    Mignolet(44.1%), Boruc(16.3%)
    Zabaleta(32.1%), Ivanovic(29.9%), Coleman(28,5%), Baines(28.0%), Whittaker(19.4%)
    Ramsey(48.1%), Yaya(36.6%), Barkley(35.5%), Ozil(31.3%), Ben Arfa(18.2%)
    Giroud(39.4%), Sturridge(39.1%), van Persie(29.7%)

Not very different from the results of your sample. And the only significant omissions compared with your top ten template are Fonte, Terry, Michu and Lukaku.

Another point to consider is that the template gradually evolves, but the top players get the new template in advance while the sheep follow later.

The top players may also be better at knowing when and how to vary from the template to take account of favourable or unfavourable fixtures, and may be better at choosing the best captains and at benching the right players. (The current world number one did bench Mignolet in GW1, but perhaps that was just unlucky; if Migs had not saved that penalty then it might have been the right decision).

Lesser players putting in differentials just for the sake of it are mostly likely to have less success.

Not sure if international football, particularly a World Cup, is the place to blood young talent like the Carling Cup. Can't just go out with the mentality that "we'll get smashed, might as well give the young boys some experience"

I don't understand where Gerrard warrants a start and Lamps doesn't. It's only cos of Lucas that Gerrard has been looking decent this season. Last game vs Palace, he was found wanting throughout the game.

Nice article, but I doubt that many will be going with many of the possible midfield OOP prospects. Most are either injured or misfiring. Schurrle could be worth a look with those fixtures but he hasn't really found his footing yet. Definitely won't go with Arnautovic (because he plays for Stoke) or Mirellas (disappointed me earlier) or HBA (because he might not play). Simply put, is it worth rolling the dice on one of these players (plus Walcott) because of more forward play?

Arnie - not convinced but he is cheap, if he starts to fire he is a straight swap for Ramsey with some change
Mirallas - IMO solid prospect for rest of the season, combination of quality, OOP and getting chances at a good team. However Barkley is still 1.7m cheaper alternative and does not really make sense to have both. I have hung on to Mirallas since pre-season and have so many other transfers to mate so maybe it will work out
HBA - way too risky, loss of game time and Newcastle's subsequent improvement is the main issue
Walcott - if he recovers fitness, I still think he is a better option than Ozil FPL wise based on his goal scoring. I have a space ready for him.

Very risky, he has only played 90mins once. With Oscar, Hazard, Mata, Willian etc. Chelsea midfield is a rotation nightmare. Oscar is the only one I would go for (and I would still consider him a punt) based on Mourinho seems to want to play him most games and he is on form.

ok here goes.. thoughts on this england set up..

    Hart

    Cahill Jagielka
    Johnson Jones Baines

    Gerrard Wilshere

    Barkley

    Rooney Walcott

this is something iv thought about for years now playing 3 centre halfs with 2 wing backs rids england of the age old problem of who to play on the left hand side.. we hav seen scholes gerrard joe cole asked to play there over the years not to mention ashley young.. screw that.. we all know about baines going forward and his delivery and as a wing back would be given more license to show it.. phil jones in this system would be also be a third centre half but with also with a freedom to bring the ball out from the back and give more protection to wilshere and gerrard in midfield 2 who will bring a great balance with one being right footed the other left.. barkley for me has the potential to take this england team and the world cup by the balls much like gazza at italia 90 imo.. and finally maybe a contreversial decision here but with the width being provided by the marrauding johnson and baines walcott will play through the centre along side rooney his pace in behind alone would give england something that would genuinely frighten the biggest teams imo..

anyway just a few ideas and about 15 mins of my life wasted as woy will no doubt roll up to brazil in the searing heat with old man lamps and gerreard in midfield in a 4-4-2 and get pissed on..

i think playing Jones at all, never mind as a defensive midfielder is a bad idea. We should be playing someone like mceachran, someone elegant, and composed, and like a carrick can play long neat passes. Jones would likely run around like a mad man and would be more of a 'stop the other team playing' reason for selection, rather than a positive 'keep the ball and go forward' reason for selection.

the reason for jones is he is a natural centre half but with great ability on the ball and also in this system will have a license to go forward and prevent the midfield from being over run.. kind of a sweeper..

I don't think he has great ability on the ball...when he joined united he'd make marauding runs but since then i just see him as a mess of a player, who throws himself around, the new john terry but not yet. i think the midfield will be overrun if we play a player who can't control and pass the ball in tight spaces. It's not like Fellaini is helping United, it's cleverley they've missed. Jones can get in the way of shots but i don't think he can break up play, and i don't think his distribution would be near as good as a midfielder with real passing quality.

I think Fergsuon played him in certain games because united's midfield is a gaping hole, but i think England have better options.

I like the idea of it but I don't think we'll ever play a 3-5-2. Italy can, because so many of the top teams in Serie A play 3-5-3. The players know the system. None of our players have ever played or will play a 3-5-2 this season so asking them to play that way for England won't work sadly.

I also think Sturridge has to start as Striker. Even if it means dropping Rooney deeper or out wide or out of the team altogether. Lastly, I don't rate Gerrard.

yeah mate agreed its a very radical change but surely its exactkly what england need going forward and beyond the world cup.. they just look so pedestrian and predictable right now and have done for years to be fair.. sturridge on form is worth a shot certainly but has alot more to prove as an international i feel.. gerrard is in there on experience only..

          no....why?

I think that team, if given faith and trust would perform. I think chamberlain has proved his quality, and sees himself as a central midfielder, and has a great shot on him. I think gerrard, lampard, and rooney don't have the legs and have never performed at tournaments. Though Gerrard was good at the euros.

mceachran should be playing for england. He's 20 and wilshere made his debut at 18. He hasn't yet because chelsea don't know how to handle young talent and keep sending him out on loan, but if like wilshere he played with arsenal and against sides like barcelona he wouldn't look out of place. Unfortunately the england setup just pick players from the top 4 sides.

I don't agree with you re McEachran. Don't really watch any European football like some on here who follow La Liga/Bundesliga etc but I do catch all the Chelsea youth team games so I've seen a hell of a lot of Josh over the last few years.

He showed a huge amount of early potential but like so many "next big things" its really hard to bring it to the next level. I think what made him stand out so much early doors was the amount of composure he had compared to the other young guys, but with the amount of players that do the exact type of job he does at senior level, he never really offers anything extra special, certainly not enough to play for England already.

Saw him do a bit better at Boro than the other loan spells, still a nice passer of the ball and he got a couple of goals in an u21 match earlier this season (1 peno) but I really don't see him making much of an impression at Premier League level and certainly not for Chelsea imo. Would be sad to see but it just shows how tough it is for youngsters nowadays, the grade is just so tough.

Eh? I think that's the attitude that means young players never get the chance, you're writing him off already, in a team that plays Mikel, really? Just that first pass in that video above convinced me of his quality, that's an incredibly difficult pass to even try and he did it easily with pace and accuracy, enough to allow the player who received it to score. There's other moments that show he's very quick thinking on the ball, any player closes in and he can evade them.

I don't watch any european football really. I heard about mceachran and watched some performances of his in europe for chelsea where he sat in the middle and everything went through him. Then recently I watched Iniesta vs arsenal in the champions league final in 2006 when he was only 22 years of age. He played in the middle and played simple passes, long and short. But he controlled the game against the 10 men, and it wasn't a showy performance, it was subtle and relied on his craft on the ball and how measured his passing is. And I just saw the similarity in Mceachran, Iniesta was slight as Mceachran is now, but they both possess an appreciation of the ball and an intelligence.

Since then Iniesta has become one of the best footballers who has ever lived, plays the game with an elegance and beauty like no one ever has, and I don't think he'd be as confident as he is with the ball at his feet were it not for Guardiola's guidance and confidence in building the team around him, Messi and Xavi. None were as good before he coached them, saw the natural talent and potential and utilized it.

But that's not good enough for us English, all we do is wait till any player for a top 4 club plays half decently, wins a trophy or two, stick them in there, hope their leadership qualities and experience pay off and something happens, and then it doesn't and we go 'they're shit'. Lets stick Scholes out wide. Actually that's what happened to mceachran for the u21's, because he has a few tricks they're more inclined to do that.

He's not meant to do anything extra special, Carrick doesn't, he'd compliment wilshere who likes to run with the ball and take on players, and likes to tackle. Mceachran would simply never lose it and distribute. Those two are the future of England's midfield, for me.

                also:

"I like Fernando Torres. He's a really nice guy, he's quiet and keeps himself to himself; he's down to earth, really humble," McEachran says. "The Spain players all tend to be like that. It's one of the reasons why Andrés Iniesta is my role model."

As to (3), for my money, Dempsey was ideal for either the role behind the forward or on the left last year. Obviously, when AVB moved Bales central, Dempsey was not going to get starts in the hole, but for me he is better wide anyway. This year, I think he is better than either Sigurdsson or Townsend (although Townsend has been brilliant this year), so should have got starts on the wing this year. As to (2), hard to believe he is making more money than at Tottenham. Too bad he couldn't have gone to WBA or some other midtable side in EPL.

He didn't get on with Martin Jol well. Actually, a few people didn't like Jol at Fulham and left the club around the same time Dempsey did.

He said that he's a big fan of fishing and hunting--plenty of both in Seattle.

Careers go to die at Tottenham. I rate Soldado, he's worldclass, but his career was over from he put the shirt on.

Hard to say; do you have Ozil or any other Arsenal attacking players ? I would save the transfer but wait to see if Walcott is lined up for a start in GW9 (same for Benteke). MUN have a good schedule ahead, so I'd be reluctant to PLAN to drop Rooney. Rooney has two 200+ seasons in the last 4 with an average of 170+ points over the last 4 years.

Looks really good. Obviously hold out on Rooney and see exactly how well he's playing. If he scores one with an okay performance I still think it's worth doing the transfer.

      Cheers guys. All good advice.
Will give Rooney another week. And maybe even the week after if he scores. I have Ozil and Giroud, so don't mind going without Walcott for another couple of weeks.
Will get Benteke eventually because he'll score all of Villas Goals.

Morning dzz, how we doing? HAve 3 options with all of them having their merit

    Myhill (boruc)
    Vidic Baines Wilson (Dawson burner)
    Michu eriksen Ramsey Barkley (Brady)
    Giroud Suarez Lukaku

A: Dawson >> Chico...good long term move but already have good def for this week assuming Wilson starts..even if he doesn't I will have Dawson as backup..this transfer can wait 2 weeks

B: save FT...good option as I have a good startin 11 but afraid I don't have back up with Brady injured and I think one of Dawson/Wilson may not play..gets compounded if any of my attackers doesn't play

C: Brady >> januzaj...builds good TV (0.4 min)....very punty but its only a 3 week punt...and price will shoot up if he does well is gw...also will start him ahead of Barkley but a good chance one of my attackers gets rested hence need a strong bench

      B

Chico is questionable value for clean sheets without Williams.

Brady will be back soon and is more nailed on than Januzaj. There's no reward for having a talented player on your team when he doesn't play.

Divide 21 by the number of strikers you've owned. If you have owned the same striker twice (e.g. Lukaku with Chelsea and Lukaku with Everton, count them twice). This will give you the average number of game weeks you have held your strikers.

I did this, and it shows a problem with my team.

Average time strikers held: 2.333 weeks.

    Ugh.

      5.25 for me

Probably on the other extreme here (too slow to shift strikers)

Would have essentially been 7 if Benteke was fit.

transferring in Bentenke the week before he was injured didn't exactly help my cause, but as the Frank Sinatra might sing, "Mistakes, I've made a few..."

          5.25 is admirable

      Same here, 2.333.

I made two MASSIVE mistakes with my strikers transfer this season,

      1. I accidentally traded out Sturridge (who i had from the start) for Giroud when I WCed in GW6 when it wasn't the plan.

      2. I accidentally traded out Suarez for Lukaku last week when it was supposed to be Rooney.

      Man, i better be careful.

sobriety when making transfers is advised 😉

        wacky season so far

just doing this exercise to get me to stop chasing points and get the ones that are already there on my team

yep, both trannies are to catch the triple price rises but i ended up losing the striker i actually wanted to retain.

here's hoping that Roo will prove me wrong and SAS to stay quiet for a little while 😛

      2.65 weeks for 8 strikers
I've not wildcarded but the only midfielder / striker I still have from gameweek 1 is Mirallas and not sure I want to keep him long term either.
I think if there is a problem with my team its my inability to pick a good side at the start of the season - Zaha, what was I thinking??
      Happened last year as well

nice stat. 2.625 for me. Maybe shifting around too much but I don't think it's that big of a problem. The big points come from your strikers. You want to get them in for the right gameweeks, even it it means swapping them out again soon.

Just Michu. Had planned to bring in Davies for defensive cover but that didn't work out. Maybe for the better anyway.

+1 and just read above that there is another break in 3 GWs time. Will this suffering never end?
