FFS Cup

FFS Paddy Power Cup – A Reminder

As the hours tick down until the Gameweek 11 deadline, we’re rolling out a final heads-up on the eighth Fantasy Football Scout Cup, sponsored by Paddy Power. Free-to-enter, the qualifying round is set to take place this weekend, so if you fancy your chances of joining previous winners donnellyc, Jonty, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleepingmaster, Mch and reigning champion Wild Rover in our hall of fame, read on for more details:

Seasoned veterans can click here to submit their entry, though if you’re new to the process, here’s a little more information:

What is the Paddy Power Cup?

The Paddy Power Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Manager highest in the overall standing will progress.

When does it start?

The qualifying round will take place in Gameweek 11 but you can enter after the Gameweek is played out. All entries received before 11.59pm on Monday November 11 will be entered into the qualifying round. In this first cup competition we will have 1024 qualifiers for the first round – those 1017 (plus 7 previous winners who will earn a bye if entered) with the top scores in Gameweek 11 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 12. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions.

How do I enter?

Simply fill out the entry form here. You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry. You can also check that you are entered via this list.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying round will be published on Tuesday November 12

What is the Gameweek Schedule

Each round of the Paddy Power Cup will be played out over the following schedule:

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 11
  • Round 1 – 1024 teams – Gameweek 12
  • Round 2 – 512 teams – Gameweek 13
  • Gameweek 14 – Break
  • Round 3 – 256 teams – Gameweek 15
  • Round 4 – 128 teams – Gameweek 16
  • Round 5 – 64 teams – Gameweek 17
  • Gameweek 18 – Break
  • Round 6 – 32 teams – Gameweek 19
  • Gameweek 20 – Break
  • Round 7 – 16 teams – Gameweek 21
  • Quarter-Final – 8 teams – Gameweek 22
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 23
  • Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 24

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Are there prizes?

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the top scoring manager from each round will win a £25 free bet from Paddy Power on supply of their Paddy Power username.

Cup Entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 or over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. You can, of course, enter without being over 18 and without a Paddy Power account but will not be eligible for the free bet prizes.

Do I have to enter if I’m a previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed, we will need to record your entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a FFS username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament. Ideally, you will already have a username with us but this is not essential to enter – you must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles. You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament, should you do so without permission, or should you enter multiple teams or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from the tournament.

    Thinking about playing my WC.

What do you think of this team:

    Migs
    Terry/Ivanovic/GJ/Clyne (Chester)
    Hazard/Nasri/Snoddy (Junuzaj/JWP)
    Suarez/Kun/Benteke

      Very strong across the back

2 Chelsea defenders ? Will you keep both of them just for the favourable fixtures and drop one later - or do you not mind the potential risk (of course they are the potential rewards too)

Junuzaj/JWP - could cycle one or the other into the mix if they look like being nailed on to start - at their prices, a spot on the bench isn't an issue either.

      Solid looking team.

Double Chelsea sounds good but not convinced by double Liverpool.
I'd get Rat instead of GJ and upgrade one of Januzaj/JWP to an assured starter like Whittingham. You will need assured starters in December.

      Really nice team!

    Milan

Schurrle is a great option, if you need a punt in the Chelsea midfield. Had the highest goal threat from midfield on Wed.

Lamps when starting is no doubt a good option, but I'd just wary of a 1 pointer from him especially at the back of a great game from Ramikel

Chelsea midfielders aren't really long-term options. Predictability is a huge aspect of this game, more than points itself.

Keep your transfer and have 2 for the int'l break.

You don't really want Kun, you want to show off your big ***Aguerajones***

(for those who don't have Aguero, not for use with Dzeko or Negredo in the event of an injury, please be careful with your Aguerajones, wash with like colors, air dry, do not iron)

Whittingham of Cardiff is a definite starter - good return relative to his price

A few more risky options .ie risk of starting on bench Januzai / more so Ward-Prose ...... and then there is Brady - a bargain if he can get back to fitness after his rush back from injury

      Townsend ?
Barkley ..... a little dodgy - will he be a nailed on starter ? emmmmm

Oh agreed, punting of course due to reduced downside from the general lack of points in midfield unless you want Yaya.

Would you start Ravel or Amal? Main selection dilemma.

Had Hazard last week so didn't get him in for the benching flair.

Yeah he should see a lot more, got Amal because WBA were so lethal on the counter. Plus he's total class. Good record against big teams. Is pretty much one of the hardest fixtures of the season though.

Also Ravel's points have mainly come from range haven't they which is a bit more unreliable?

Some people write a lot of comments, some people spend a lot of their time reading them and only comment when they're caught up again. You'd be surprised how many comments one can read while simultaneously needing to go to the bathroom and having an infant sleeping on top of your stomach/bladder that prevents you from doing so for 45 minutes.

reviewing my 4 transfers for -8

    Sold
Giroud, avoided losing .2 in sell-on value
Michu, avoided losing .2 in sell-on value
Coleman, avoided losing .1 in sell-on value, and has a bit of a bad run of fixtures coming
Cech, meh, was frustrating me as Chelsea defense cover and replaced with Terry

    Bought
Terry, defensive baps hog with sweet sched
Januzaj, 3/4 of the way to rising .2 and giving me enough money to bring in Walcott for free
    Pantilimon, a bloody stupid punt
Rooney, because I think ManU are coming together, and if not, I can always drop kick him to Benteke or a much cheaper Giroud (if I talk myself out of triple Arsenal midfield first)

Not bad except for the Pantilimon part, and even that had some sound reasoning behind it, but no one would believe that.

Who would you bench on this team? I missed the rise tonight, so thinking on saving the FT for next week and waiting until then to replace Michu... Thoughts?

    Mig (Harper)
    Clyne, Coleman, Terry (Chico, Wilson)
    Ramsey, Oscar, Barcley, Januzej (Michu)
    Suarez, Aguero, Lukaku

    Thanks!

So wildcard finalized. Care to rip it apart?

    Krul/Boruc
    G.Johnson/Terry/Baker/C.Davies/Williams
    Ramsey/Nasri/Ravel/Townsend/Arnautovic
    Roon/Suarez/Aguero

Now before you go complaining about the midfield, not many of the big hitters have delivered. Arnautovic and Townsends stats are very encouraging, and at the moment it seems like all the points are in attack and at the back, which is why i have gone with this configuration. I could upgrade Nasri to Oscar/Hazard and get a cheaper midfielder in for Townsend, but City are way more attacking than Chelsea at the minute and with Silva out Nasri should play, he seems favoured by Pellegrini.

Krul and Boruc rotates well too, and they`ve tightened up a lot at the back. It`ll be kind of a differential too if they come up with something.

      Defs: nice work. Me likee.
Mids: not a fan of Arnau, Towny or Nasri. Ozil and possibly Oscar are needed.

Not too much wrong with it apart from the midpark but you knew that anyway.

Arnau and Townsend are top in the threat department, and theyre cheap. Mids who take plenty of shots are valueable i think. If i want that defence and that forward line, somethings gotta give, sadly.

Yeah, I have been fooled by this sort of data before. If you are following those stats you may as well have Cabeye who is blasting anything and everything at present.

Problem is...conversion. It's one thing having lots of shots; it's another thing if they are going in or not. This is why the ppg stat is such a reliable indicator.

Cabaye doesnt even begin to compare to those two, fwiw. And having seen Townsend a fair bit, you know hes the type to fire away. And he can hit them. They both can. Ozil and Oscar are too expensive for what you get, imo.

Yeah well. Two of those assists were corners, which for the first part are pretty random, and secondly he`s got competition now with Santi back. The assist against Liverpool was also a prety fluky one. Not saying hes not great, bc he is, but 11m is a lot and their fixtures are extremely tough now.

I don't mind the midfield. Forwards are the important bit and they seem fine - oh, and a good defensive rotation. Do your homework on a good 5-man rotation at the back and you won't regret it.
