Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope – Galling

A couple of Frenchman are set for a short stint on the sidelines after falling foul of the referee’s wrath over the weekend’s fixtures. Mathieu Debuchy and Mathieu Flamini received their fifth yellow cards of the campaign, meaning both are set to serve a one-match suspension in Gameweek 12:

Debuchy’s caution in Newcastle’s 1-0 win at White Hart Lane will force him out of the upcoming home game against Norwich as Alan Pardew’s side go in search of a third successive clean sheet. The right-back’s absence is a real blow to the Tyneside team – he has played every minute of the season so far, though the versatile Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa could deputise, allowing fit-again Fabricio Coloccini the chance to slot in alongside Mike Williamson in the heart of the backline.

Flamini has certainly show a flair for racking up the cards since returning to the Emirates this summer. The holding midfielder has received five cautions in just 511 minutes’ game time – his absence for the upcoming visit of Southampton should see Aaron Ramsey shift back into the double-pivot alongside Mikel Arteta, after the Welshman was moved to the right flank once again away to United yesterday.

The Suspension Tightrope welcomed a number of new faces in the Gameweek gone by. West Brom duo Jonas Olsson and Claudio Yacob, Hull’s defensive rock Curtis Davies, Fulham’s Scott Parker, Chelsea right-back Branislav Ivanovic and Norwich’s Michael Turner all climbed aboard on Saturday. Sunday’s matches saw Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere, Spurs centre-half Michael Dawson, City’s Javi Garcia, United utility man Phil Jones, Stoke centre-half Robert Huth, Swansea pair Chico and Angel Rangel and Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko also earn their fourth bookings of the season.

Only four clubs – Liverpool, Cardiff, Palace and Southampton – are not represented in the updated widget on your sidebar, which now heaves under the weight of 23 players.

In terms of ongoing suspensions, Sunderland pair Andreas Dossena and Lee Cattermole will sit out the second of a three-match ban in the upcoming round of matches– both will be available for the Gameweek 14 visit of Chelsea. Swansea stopper Michel Vorm makes a return after serving a one-match ban in Sunday’s 3-3 draw with Stoke.

2 FTs to make... wondering if I should just make them now.. what do yall think?

    Boruc Davis
    Clyne Coleman Walker Rat Chester
    Silva Hazard Ozil Amalfitano Barkley
    Rooney Sturridge Giroud

Thinking Silva > Morrison, Sturridge > Suarez... or could do Giroud > Aguero

Worth it to just do it now?

Tough captain options for next GW

    a) Suarez - Everton Away
    b) Lukaku - Liverpool Home
    c) Aguero - Tottenham Home
    d) Hazard - West Ham Away

Those are probably my top 4 players. Im thinking Aguero since Man City have really good home form and Tottenham struggling for goals but they don't concede much either. Also can't predict how Liverpool v Everton will go

evra is the safest of all united defenders , and they've shown good defensive form after the stoke game .. i think jones playing CDM is the key .. and yea , christmas period is harsh , u cn go for mert or mcauley , both guaranteed to start every game

A massive knee jerk. Should I get do Lukaku -> Rémy immediately? Sturridge -> Suarez when it is still possible? I can do both for a hit now, but don't know for how long seen the price changes.

    questions for mini leagues

    1) Do you play mind games against your rivals?

    2) Do you advice them wich transfers they should do?

    3) Do you advice them strategies and points hit?

honestly i am doing all off this and sometimes works out brilliantly on the other day not so well

most of ML are not ,,noobs'' and they know something about football so i advice them to get player who wont do as good in my opinion , by exacly this was burned by YAYA this season

but in last seasons i often adviced players like Ramires,Carick.... and my ML was buying them

aslo i told them that they should ,,build up TV and take pts hits'' -this is my favorite , when i check league and see all those minus points every gw

i also advice them to jump on knee jerk and get rid of ,player who dosnt do well at this moment but have great fixures''

i like doing this sort of things and it's fun , but often i am very honest in advices and telling them wich player they should get and C and stuff like that

in pre-season i trying be helpfull as well

Where to go with this. Ideally looking to get rid of Zabeleta for someone more stable as an expensive defender.

1 free transfer, 0.6 in the bank.

I was considering selling Migs for Howard come GW16 when Pool have a nasty run of games. However I looked a 3 things, total points, points in comparison to the rest of the defence and saves. Migs has significantly more points than the rest of his defenders, far more saves and the points difference is marginal. Howard has also saved 2 penos to Migs' 1 yet is only 7 points in front.

    This seems to be because

    a) Migs gets more saves (40 to Howard's 27)
    b) The likes of Jagielka and Baines are BP magnets and have more attacking threat

On that basis I have concluded that i am better buying someone like GJ now and then swapping to Jags/Baines later and either persevering with Migs for the save points or swapping for DDG

Thoughts on Lukaku -> Remy ?

Remy better short term fixtures. Then swap him for Rooney at around GW 14/15.

Gonna do it tonight before Remy rises, or not at all. Take the plunge...?

1--FT Studge ag eve > Remy ag NOR so avoid the .3 drop this week for studge
Then in following gw do 1FT at a time to get Rooney and Sess so as to avoid getting hit -4
    or
2--HIT -4 Studge > Rooney ag AVL & Oscar ag wha > Sess

Next GW captains are gonna be a real differential I reckon, there's no clear cut choice like there has been in the last few weeks. The popular choices of Aguero and Suarez will both be coming back off a long trip (Suarez even playing for a WC playoff!), so they could well be both tired and may not be firing on full cylinders. RVP and Rooney are probably the better picks, but Cardiff away will be far from easy. Arsenal players may be worth a punt, they are good at home, especially Ozil! But they will be up against a very decent Southampton who could well get a result there. And then you are into the more 'punty' players like Remy, Benteke, perhaps even Sessegnon or Brady! Any of these could score really well, but it is far from a guarantee.

Who is everyone thinking putting the armband on next GW? I am pretty torn to be honest!

Currently sticking with Suarez, but that will inevitably change. Aguero is a possibility, City are on fire at home. Tempted with a Hazard punt, but that is a long way off of coming to fruition as a reasonable answer to the problem!

GW14 has one day (nov 30th) in November and the rest of the GW on 1st of December - does anyone know if this GW will split for the monthly league rankings (as we have a monthly prize for manage of the month in our paid league)?

If it's split with the Saturday Nov 30th counting towards Novembers ranking then it potentially makes it worthwhile for me to captain someone playing on the Saturday.

Not going to delve into stats or numbers, but I'd just like to share that I've taken a hit almost weekly for the past 4 weeks and it has coincided with a huge change in fortune for the better.
Taking hits to bring in players I think will score well over the next 2/3 games is something I'll continue to do, as I have this week with McCauley and Hazard - although that was forced by injuries to Silva and Reid.
    Do you abstain from hits?
I really think it's worth it if you can find the right players

Definitely worth it to compensate for injuries; not so much if the player you're getting rid of is nailed on (then you're essentially betting on two outcomes rather than one). If that makes sense ❓

Imagine if you could predict with certainty which players would score the highest every week. Then you could achieve an average of 120 pts per week, even if you needed to take 11 hits to get this ideal team in then you would still average 75-80 pts per week.

Now i know none of us can see the future but we can predict with a reasonable level of likelihood which players are going to score highly in certain games or a certain run of games. If your predictions are accurate then the -4 pts is no longer a negative meaning the hit was the right move.
