Captain Sensible – Gameweek 17

Yes, we know this week’s battle for the armband is done and dusted. With 86% of the votes cast, Luis Suarez is the undisputable favourite as Liverpool prepare for the visit of Cardiff on Saturday. The Uruguayan is hunting his fifth successive double-figure haul at Anfield and it’ll be a brave, or perhaps desperate, Fantasy manager who goes against the grain. Once again, our midweek regular for members sifts through the statistics to ascertain whether there really is anyone else worth considering:

Jafooli and Shifty if you two are around.. Continuing with the discussion from last page..

I think the spine of a team with the template front 7 And Baines is very much possible.

    Krul

Baines Distin and 3*4.0 defenders ( Ward, Chester and somebody else) as opposed to 4*4.0 defenders.

    Hazard - Silva- Ramsey- Walcott
    Suarez - Rooney- Lukaku

That would be the front 7 most would be looking for. You could make a case for Ozil being there but I personally wouldn't have him simply because he and Silva are similar type of FPL players- Both consistent.
Hazard and Walcott are far more explosive with Ramsey being the ideal 4th mid with a 4.5 mid in the mix.

    So the squad is essentially..

    Krul/ Gazzaniga

    Baines / Distin/ Ward/ Chester/ any 4.0 defender

    Hazard/ Silva/ Ramsey/ Walcott/ Meyler

    Suarez/ Rooney/ Lukaku

You could downgrade Krul to Marshall for an added 0.5 and have this squad. The question is if its value for money? I really think it could be. The jury is still out on Baines but if he is back next week, I can see myself going in with this squad.

    Thoughts?

baines and distin? i'd prefer baines and coleman. but i think coleman + mert or something similar which is more affordable is probably preferable

and someone like ravel or januzaj or sterling as a 5th mid could be worth the extra over a 4.5 guy

I did think about it TW. But we all know that Baines is on FK's and penos. There is no other defender who provides that. Also, the Everton defenders are owned in masses.
A fair few already have Coleman and Jags. Baines could prove to be a nice little differential for 3-4 weeks.
You don't get that with Mert or Coleman.

As i told last page, totally possible. I can do this in one transfer. Terry to Baines.

      Marshall /4.0

      Jags Baines GabbD Burnee Chester

      Wally Ramsey Silva Hazard Oveido

      Rooney Suarez Lukaku

But i wouldnt do Terry to Baines now though.

Young has had a lot of criticism recently from both non United fans and United fans alike, hence the exuberance.

Evra scored with his right foot, and so made a big deal of it.

Generally pleased with my XI but GW coming up has given me some dilemmas.

    Myhill
    Coleman, Flanagan, Distin
    Ramsey, Hazard, Nasri, Cabaye
    Suarez (c), Rooney (vc), Lukaku

    Subs: Szenszny, Chico, Baker, RavMo

I have 1 mill left in the bank and have no FT's left. Considering these options:

    A) Leaving it as it is
    B) Taking in Rafael (Man U) instead of Chico and letting him start instead of Distin (Man U have had clean sheets their two latest games, favourable fixtures and Rafael is the best on the RB). Thoughts?

Williams for me. Terry has a harder fixture but he could nick a goal.

No assists. They scored 2 goals in the 1st 6 minutes he was on for.

Are Rooney owners keeping him? I see teams transferring others out and keeping him in.. I was about to myself but where is this hope that he will play at the weekend coming from? More annoyingly Iv just transferred in Rooney this GW for aguero.. *shakes head*

Unless he's hurt for a while I don't think anyone would get rid now especially as most have already done their FT.

Have I missed something since moyes comments last night? Sounded like a reasonable chance that he would play. Unless we hear more don't spend another 4 pts
