The Dugout Discussion – Monday

An all-London affair at the Emirates brings the curtain down on Gameweek 17 this evening. Plenty of Fantasy favourites are on show as the Gunners look for the win that would extend their lead to four points over the chasing pack:

For the hosts, Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil are the main protagonists for Fantasy managers, whilst Theo Walcott will be looking to maintain the form that saw him score twice at the Etihad last weekend.

Jose Mourinho’s side roll up on the back of a poor form of form on the road. The Blues have been beaten in three of their last four away games in all competitions but know that a victory will draw them level with the Gunners on 36 points. Eden Hazard will be desperate to have his say before Fantasy managers turn our attentions to the Gameweek 18 fixtures on Boxing Day.

The team news sees the hosts make four changes from the side that lost 6-3 at City last time around. Kieran Gibbs and Thomas Vermaelen are drafted in for Nacho Monreal and Laurent Koscielny at the back, with the Frenchman sidelined due to a knee wound. Mikel Arteta partners Aaron Ramsey in the double-pivot, with Mathieu Flamini dropping out, whilst Tomas Rosicky gets the nod on the left, replacing the suspended Jack Wilshere. Lukas Podolski warms the Gunners bench along with the likes of Santi Cazorla.

The Blues make three alterations from the XI that edged past Palace. Gary Cahill replaces David Luiz in defence, whilst John Obi Mikel and Frank Lampard are drafted into midfield – Michael Essien drops out through suspension while Juan Mata takes his place on the bench, allowing Ramires to move onto the right of the attacking midfield three. Oscar, Andre Schurrle and Samuel Eto’o are also amongst the subs, with Fernando Torres leading the line again.

      No point scoring 0 for GK. A hit can be covered with a CS but more importantly gets rid of future 0's until WC unless you manage a FT which is unlikely.

  Evans is a better option over Debuchy due to fixtures. However, an Ars defender would be better than both now that they have been keeping CS consistently. Maybe Kosc/Sagna or Mert if you feel you have the budget?
  
  Zab to Chester/Bardsley(good fix) and Brady to Silva possible? That may give you a good diff and nailed on def plus spare cash.
  
  May just be worth the hit in this week itself.

      Chiriches, Nastasic aren't nailed on. Flanagan also with Enrique who might come back, Azpi may also be threatened by Cole. So a little shaky defense.
      
      The mids and forwards are okay. Soldado may be a little punty but why sell Rooney for him?

  For this week, Silva and Evans. Sagna is probably a better bet for long term, though, as Arsenal's fixtures are the cat's meow. That means Wally is good pick too. I would rather have Silva if I had to choose, however.

  best value for the price. if you sell him you'll have to downgrade elsewhere if you want to bring him back. He was never going to maintain his high scoring form but he is guaranteed to bring home points. If you feel the people you listed are more likely to get more points or at a higher rate from now on then go head. Personally, I don't think anyone in that price bracket can.

  Arsenal have got better fixtures and Ramsey's ownership is far too high to not own, IMO. Then again, if you're chasing a lead then Cabaye's not a bad differential at all. Depends on how you're ranked/how badly you need a differential, I reckon...

  FA cup though should be kept an eye on (There are two rounds in January - one first week and one last). Same with LC later rounds (United, City, Hammers still in I think).

So after comparing Walcott and silva over the last 2 games. It seems if you want creativity to go with silva, goal threat Walcott. I'm going to have both over the next couple weeks, but now considering Wally ahead for this week after that.

    Because I don't see Arsenal scoring a lot against west ham away, and I think with Cazorla/Podolski/Walcott all fit again Ramsey's going to see a lot less goal threat. Also Redmond's fixture is very nice.
