Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope – Siesta

When the team sheets arrived for City’s home clash against Palace on Saturday afternoon, a certain little Spaniard’s Fantasy owners were full of optimism for the 90 minutes ahead. By the final whistle, though, those same folk were left cursing their misfortune as David Silva handed them the most unwanted of Christmas cards – a fifth caution of the season which rules him out of Wednesday’s trip to Swansea.

Silva not only seems to have stepped up in consistency under Manuel Pellegrini (a goal or assist in eight of 11 appearances), he has also developed a penchant for picking up yellows. Over his previous three seasons with the Etihad club, the playmaker had received a total of four bookings in the league – he’s managed to mirror that already this term and with a caution accrued in the Capital One Cup, he’ll be tucking into his New Year’s Day dinner while Pellegrini’s side make their way to the Liberty.

Also sidelined through suspension are a couple of defenders – Villa’s Ciaran Clark and Chelsea’s David Luiz. Clark will miss a crucial trip to Sunderland, whilst Luiz, in just his eighth league start, picked up a fifth caution of the season in yesterday’s home win over Liverpool and will sit out the trip to Southampton.

The trio joined Sunderland’s Wes Brown on the banned list – the Black Cats centre-half serves the last of a three-match ban and will be available for the FA Cup clash against Carlisle at the weekend.

After Wednesday, the Tightrope extends to 10 bookings, with the new deadline Sunday April 13 (Gameweek 34). A special mention goes to Newcastle’s right-back Mathieu Debuchy – with seven cautions to his name, the Frenchman is just three yellows away from suspension already.

Think I'm going Palace, Norwich and Hull.

Don't care that much about how perfect they rotate, they're just three relatively tight sides (at home) with cheap options

        This is it.

CPL and Hull nailed on. May fit in Soton as third instead.

Check out nor / soton / wba for a decent cheapish 3-man rotation. Good till GW34.

Have a hunch that will be the template defence after WC's are swung.

Some nice 5-man rotations to consider for the WC:

    M.Olsson / Clyne / J.Olsson / Ward / B.Turner (Max. total cost: 21.9m)

    M.Olsson / Chester / B.Yurner / Bardsley / Ward (Maz. total cost: 20.9m)

honestly with the next match not until the 11th I don't see why they wouldn't rest him against Hull when he gets nearly 2 weeks without the pressure of a match to continue to heal up

Hull have 1 win, 3 draws and a 2-3 loss to ManU in their last 5.

Livp have lost their last 2.

I think that they could do without him tbh..especially as he does slow down their attack a bit (not that it's a bad thing) and clearly Hull have issues dealing with quick breaks..

guess we'll just have to wait and see, I'm not going to ship anyone to bring him in for this week (no hits for me tyvm) but will definitely be monitoring for GW21

I wasted some good building time by holding on to Migs and then bringing in Howard after that..should have just had Mannone/Boruc/someone else the whole time and be done with it..seems just as likely to bring in a CS as anyone else, and at least defenders have the ability to score/assist/baps from good play after conceding whereas the best you can hope for from a GK is save points which are stingy anyways..

After all this hype about the Arsenal defence, completely expect Arsenal to start leaking in goals 😆

In high scoring easy games, I guess defenders are less motivated to keep a CS.

Ok lads, looking to sort out my defence this week as I'm wildcarding late, so gonna hang onto Silva. Rival has Mert so I'm looking at 3 different options, which looks best (Clyne and Williams out)

    a) Kos and Zaba then sell Evans to Ward next week or play 4 at the back with Ki benched (other defender is Goalman)

    b) Kos with Ward to rotate with Burner and cut off his Arsenal defence

    c) Zaba with Ward for the extra attacking threat.

Cheers shoe while your here fancy giving me a bit more advice not sure what to prioritise

        A. Ravel - Sterling
        B. Flanagan - Kosc

        Team is

        Marshall Lewis
        Coleman Distin Evans Baker Flanagan
        Walcott Hazard Cabaye Silva Ravel
        Rooney Suarez Lukaku

        1.4 ITB

Alternatively I could do Distin-Mert but worried about other injuries to my squad so not favouring this option currently.

yes but they are right to be sceptical though aren't they. i am non-owner hoping he doesn't play! genuinely think he won't make it if the bit about the groin injury was true though

Moyes said: ‘Robin’s started some light training and he might not be too far away as well (as Wayne Rooney).

‘I would expect Rooney to be back for Wednesday, hopefully. But he’s got an adductor injury in his groin, which kept him out of the Stoke game,’ he said.

Rooney has way more chance than RVP based on that.

.5 banked so I am already upgrading Williams 4.8 to 5.3. Considered Azpil as well.
