The ScoutCast – Episode 121 – Opportunity

A new year, a new opportunity. While the frantic festive spell saw me fail miserably in my attempt to take a bite out of Granville’s mini-league lead, January does at least hand me, and other stragglers, a chink of light. The Winter Wildcard could well be a false dawn, however. Having got my squad back on an even keel, the freedom to scrap it and start over is almost a scary prospect.

On the plus side, the situation certainly seems to have Granville spooked. My Mancunian rival is looking on his Wildcard with suspicion, leaving me hoping that, during his own January surgery, he makes one or two vital slips with the scalpel.

Around the Wildcard chatter, Granville and I deliberate over how to fill the Walcott-sized hole in our teams, whilst giving the regulars their usual airing. We even reveal plans on how you, yes you, the listener, can play a part in future ScoutCasts.

Please note: this show was recorded before Alvaro Negredo and Edin Dzeko scored five goals against West Ham. Rest assured, I would have moaned further about the pairing’s miserable two points at Swansea had it been recorded following last night’s goal blitz.

Sweep with the new broom via this link or grasp the nettle of change via the handy player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

City have scored 10 goals in last 4 visits to Newc.

            Debuchy/Colo both out. Krul(my keeper...lol) doubtful.

In terms of creativity, City have the player creating the most chances per minute in David Silva. Silva has created a chance every 20 minutes,

I see Rohan talking about Sunderland looking for new keeper - any more info on that one?
Also Burner in danger now - my double on cardiff/sunderland not looking so great 🙁

And why the heck Lukaku is getting - NTI today and yesterday, wildcarders ditching maybe?
I need him to go 0.1 up before next week so I can do Lukaku => Aguero!

    Do I
    a) take a risk and hope he scores this week, so he'll defo go up saturday/sunday
    b) don't risk it, just downgrade ward => chester or bardsley => brown and avoid possible hit next week

Pretty Settled on the Bardsley Ward Chester + 2 Biggies defense at the moment. But since it's WC week and all it just feels wrong having a starting 11 with Bardsley playing an away game when i could have just about any defender in the game :frown:

      About Rooney

"he will either play 90 or 0 mins (due to injury)."

Well if hes carrying an injury and Man Utd are leading then surely he will be taken off to rest him..... I very much doubt he will play the whole game at all

        I think so too Keith.

        It's always...

Silva over Yaya (bid decision that)
Ozil over Cazorla despite my good feeling about him this week.
        Lallana over Cabaye
        And Kos for Evans.

Also I need then decide what about Wayne 🙄

last year i slogged through Jan waiting for the final week before WCing while all my rivals WCed as early as possible and got all the players i wanted at cheaper prices while outscoring me heavily throughout Jan. I always wondered why i waited 🙂 .. I dint put any Jan signings in as i preferred the tried and tested EPL players anyway so it was a huge waste

Without a WC or hits you're going to have to take a lot of risk. That's why it's going to have to be your decision. I don't envy your choice 🙁

Amazed Walcott has still only dropped once. Means that my sale value (9.4) hasn't changed, but need to shift today.

    Szczesny
    Walker Terry Kos Coleman
    Hazard Sterling (Walcott)
    Suarez Rooney Aguero

    Subs: Redmond Brunt Chester

0.1 in bank, so can afford Cazorla - is he the best option? Or a -4 involving shifting Rooney to get Ozil in?

Interesting so we all want or have roughly the same midfield. I guess some people are calling many WC team's midfield template. But if you do in fact look at the ownership of Eriksen, Silva and Gerrard, they are all under 6%. Do we think the players we want as the big hitters in midfield will change come the end of Jan?

On WC this week. Going for Ramsey on my bench as the cheapest of my mids.. Eriksen starting. in 2 weeks Eriksen to whichever 5.3 and below mid looks good for the 5th mid spot and the spare cash used to upgrade JRod/Adebayor to Aguero. I got a plan!

He's been benched 3 times this season, twice coming back from injury and once against Everton where he replaced Kompany who was injured.

A City fan? No. I think he's as nailed on as is realistic with the top teams nowadays. Freighters turns faster than Demichelis.

Yep. Demichelis *might* get started in some of the easier games to alleviate congestion, but overall Nastasic/Kompany should be the first choice CB pairing. Micho was always a stopgap.

      Gerrard cross Saurez score
Gerrard with a throughball Saurez score
Saurez wins a penalty Gerrard Score
Gerrard with a shot, keeper saved, Saurez with the rebound, Saurez score !!!!!!
