Versus – Lallana, Rodriguez and Lambert

A 3-0 hammering of Fulham last Saturday signalled Southampton’s flourishing form and brought many of their main protagonists onto Fantasy radars. Having grabbed a goal apiece in the Craven Cottage mauling, Adam Lallana, Jay Rodriguez and Rickie Lambert have been subject to considerable investment over the last few days as Fantasy managers turn to the mid-price trio ahead of a very kind run of fixtures for Mauricio Pochettino’s team:

Over the next six league matches, the Saints go head-to-head with Stoke, Hull, West Ham, Palace and Norwich and, whilst a Gameweek 28 showdown with Liverpool may pose a problem or two, the fact that four other sides have blanks in the same weekend somewhat lessens any possible downside.

Now up to third in the midfield standings in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Lallana has received more than 53,000 transfers in this week, with his current price of 7.8 still looking a real bargain. Rodriguez has been acquired by a similar number after climbing to sixth in the forward rankings on 107 points, whilst Lambert’s 15-point haul against Rene Meulensteen’s side took him to within three points of his fellow frontman.

In the second members article of the week, we delve into the data to see if the numbers can shed any more light on their potential Fantasy returns, as Pochettino’s side look to take advantage of the schedule and boost their bid for a Europa League spot:

    Mannone
    Ivanovic Coleman Ward
    Hazard (c) Yaya Mata AJ
    Suarez (vc) Sturridge Bony

    Marshall Noone Koscielny Bruce

Next week I'm doing AJ > Mirallas, Bony > Lambert/Dzeko, or both for a hit. Thanks.

I say Cahill, not just because I have him. People are suggesting he may be rotated the odd game when CL restarts but I think Terry is equally at risk because of his age.
Cahill looks just a big a threat from corners and FKs as Terry too.

Doubled up on Chelsea defence two GWs ago in the wc (Terry and Cahill). Haven't looked back. There may be Luiz playing at CB occasionally in European rotation but I don't think Mourinho likes him there in general. Also very little 1pt cameo risk with CBS.

Exactly my point. And being a Chelsea fan, looking at Cahill's performances, I don't think he has given Mourinho any reason to drop him even to rotate him. I mean I wouldn't want to see the pairing to be changed there when we have done so well at the back especially since December.

It's as worthy of an 8 point hit as I think you can get. You'll be well set up for the next 3 gameweeks. I'm on the recommending Lambert train. If I can't fit him in (I have Sturridge, RVP, and Suarez), then I'll just have to live vicariously through others.

Tricky fixtures on paper, but Santi is bang on form also, and Liverpool and United have hardly been rock solid at the back. I think he'll score similar to Lallana over the next 4-5 games, so perhaps worth a trade to gather some cash if nothing else to do. At least Santi offers a goal threat (unlike Mesut)

Defnitely wouldn't lose Benteke with their fixtures, especially not for a -4.

So it boils down to roughly the same quandary I have, though in my case it's Cazorla rather than Ozil that I'm thinking of swapping to Lallana.

So apparently West Ham are considering taking legal action over Carroll's ban.

I struggle to see what that will achieve to be honest, I can't see that being successful unless the FA breached its own procedures and it will just be an unwelcome distraction from fighting relegation.

It might not have a successful conclusion but it's better than rolling over being the FA's bitch. It was a bad decision waved off by the whims of FA. West Ham will struggle without Carroll, and Sam (and perhaps the FA 😯 ) knows it.

No need to swing out for sure.

I think it's just something you try because you can. Most of the workload will fall on the legal team surely, and they're not penalized apart from legal costs presumably for trying, so might as well from their point of view. So makes sense though it's a bit unsightly.
