Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope – Time

Having played his part in the tussle that saw Andy Carroll suspended for violent conduct back in Gameweek 24, Swansea’s Chico Flores took centre stage in last Sunday’s home draw with Palace. The Spaniard was sent packing for denying Glenn Murray a goal-scoring opportunity at the Liberty and will resultantly serve a one-match ban next time around:

With no fixture this weekend, the Swans centre-half will be sidelined for the Gameweek 30 home clash against West Brom before returning to action the following weekend as Garry Monk’s men pay visit to Everton.

Chico is one of just two players currently unavailable for selection. Nicolas Anelka was handed a five-match ban by the FA last week for his “quenelle” gesture against West Ham back in late December. The detailed reasons behind the decision are expected to be made public today and the West Brom forward may yet decide to appeal the verdict – in the meantime, the Baggies have suspended the player until the situation is clarified, with some reports yesterday suggesting the FA could even extend the Frenchman’s spell on the sidelines.

Charlie Adam’s Fantasy owners are awaiting news after the FA charged the Stoke midfielder with violent conduct yesterday. If found guilty, the Scot could be set for a three-match ban for his alleged stamp on Olivier Giroud during the Potters’ 1-0 win over Arsenal last weekend – he has until 6pm today to respond, though his club have already confirmed they will “appeal vigorously” against the decision. Stoke owner Peter Coates slammed the verdict as “appalling”, going on to say:

“We are disgusted. Charlie absolutely assures us it was not intentional. I defy anyone to look at that and say it was. We will defend it vigorously. Yaya Toure recently lashed out at a player (Norwich’s Ricky van Wolfswinkel) and nothing got done. We are shocked and believe the charge is totally unnecessary.”

On this week’s Suspension Tightrope, we now have 10 players with eight or more yellows to their name. West Brom’s Jonas Olsson leads the way on nine – one more caution before the next amnesty (Gameweek 34) and he will pick up a ban.

Chelsea’s Ramires is the latest addition to our list after being booked in Saturday’s win at London neighbours Fulham. The Brazilian is one of six midfielders who have now accrued eight cautions – Fabian Delph, Gareth Barry, Cheick Tiote, Jon Walters and Claudio Yacob are the other guilty parties – whilst David Luiz, Marouane Chamakh and Wayne Rooney also need to tread carefully in order to avoid incurring the referee’s wrath.

so I take it a lot of other people are seriously considering dropping Hazard (if you're me, in favor of Stevie)?

Spurs, City and Chelsea (H) are all capable of goals IMO..

it's an interesting decision for sure! and thankfully one I can make without affecting my team too much (I have exactly enough if I keep Haz in, but with 2 more weeks to go I might have to just do Coleman > Jags if I want to keep him, which isn't the end of the world)

    This DGW announcement confuses me.

If Arsenal vs Everton is a draw in the FA Cup this weekend, the only other free spot is midweek GW31 (because of Champions League).

Surely they aren't going to sell tickets etc, just to re-arrange it again?

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AhFqkaFEe92idENGTktEQV9hQXNhM2xQRlZLVHlIUmc#gid=0 - this shows the midweeks all taken up by CL.

They probably have to have organised it before a certain date before the game.

As sad as it is, the clubs/PL aren't really bothered about whether fans buy a ticket and have to change plans or not.

To get Aguero or Not To get him will be the question in my mind this week

Pros:He is in good form and scoring goals consistently
From the time that he is gone
City have stopped winning by big margins
When he returns they may start to win by big margins again

Cons:Minimum 2 transfers required for most of us to get him in

    and

As Villow87 pointed out above he may not get full 90 minutes for the two matches in dgw

Also we have some good options other than him

Lukaku is a good choice even they have 2 dgws coming up

    So are you getting aguero?

Yeah I suppose Lukaku is a preferable option for GW 31. As it stands I don't have a clue how I will get Yaya and Aguero both in my team. I might just get Lukaku and Yaya instead and I can keep Hazard also by benching him

    Evening chaps

After more heartbreak at the weekend, I feel I should get some advice on my betting decision this week...
Basically, I've picked out Real, Chelsea and Juve as the teams I want to bet on (strong home form); should I
    A) place singles on all three (£10) each (£10 profit)
    B) Put £20 on a treble bet for all 3? (£30 profit)

Reason I ask is because I'm always losing by 1 team on accumulators EVERY week, and I'm thinking I should stick to singles from now on to stop frittering away cash, despite the potential winnings being lower!
    Thanks 🙂

Anyone contemplating whether or not if 4-3-3 is a good formation for GW 31?

    My team ATM is

    Marshall Mannone
    Coleman Ward Clyne Burner Ivanovic
    Hazard Lallana Eriksen Mata Pozuelo
    Suarez Sturridge Adebayor

    0.7 ITB and 2 FT

I don't want to get rid of Hazard but instead bench him ( suggestions ) hence why I might play 4-3-3

Any ideas on how I can get Yaya and Agüero both into my team for DGW 31?

    Cheers in advance lads

but you have to choose someone to downgrade
only by downgrading mata we can get funds for aguero i think
for toure it is going to be tough minimum 2 downgrades needed

Any other WCers considering GW30 rather than GW31?

Would allow us to get DGWers in before the masses do, meaning we can get them before they rise. Also generally better FPL players than the dross we've got for GW29.

Most of the teams with good DGW's have a good GW30 fixture too.

Not sure at all. They have those teams at home that are difficult either way and visit the bottom clubs, that are no longer so easy when they are at home and fighting for maintain. Maybe there will be goals, maybe not, but mathces will be tighter than they were in Autumn when they had the privilege of receiving all the worst teams. I'm at least not expecting those massive hauls from Suarez anymore.

I think this must be a very negative way of apporaching it, but the conformations that Everton, Swansea, Newcastle and Arsenal are now all playing twice has probably ruined the double gameweek. Nearly every team is playing twice, meaning that no matter what, every team is bound to deliver some form of points. All that planning to bring in players that have a double over players that do no has probably gone out of the window for the most part.

      Underrated.

Lacking defensively sometimes, but so are most fullbacks around now. Man U fans go on about signing Baines, but he's just as bad defensively and wouldn't get a set piece with Rooney, Mata and RVP around.

Depends on who is rating. My only problem with Evra is that he only turns up for the big matches. The rest of the time he couldn't be bothered to run back in defence or focus on making decent passes or intercepting a one for that matter. Watch a France match sometime, a one that is not decisive or against big opponent. Most of the time he is horrid. He is better for ManU though, less often so unfocused. Perhaps heart more at club than NT. Some players are like that.

80 pts behind my brother who I've not been able to catch all season..He only has four playing next week where I have 8 at the mo..He can't afford either Rooney or RVP, but I can without a hit...Would you do Studge > RVP/Rooney and (c)...?..Got to haven't I ?

Why ?..If it was afifty point gap I might agree. He's well set up for DGWers so I've little scope there, and he has his WC for later...I'm running out of opportunities.

Okay. Fair enough, but I fear the differential will be very negative. Okay, this round, you can really catch him a long way if RVP turns up. If he doesn't, you're screwed, as Studge has much better DGW than RVP.

Negative for the Overall game, agreed...but worth the gamble for the mini league,mmm..Make your mind up time I suppose.

In the end, if RVP hits form, he does have better fixtures post GW31, so that gamble might be worth it. But if you're going to miss both Kün and Studge for this, I think you may lose it.

One thing bugs me... I don't quite see the difference between ML and OL. If you get less points in overall league, you also get less points in your ML. So I would try to take the choice that gets you the most points.

Okay, I get that you can't know for sure who scores, so gambling with differential may work. But it still only works if the differential materializes positively in the overall points: only if your differential players actually end up scoring heavily, you will end up with advantage in your ML. If instead your Studge team would score more points than your RVP team during the period you went for RVP and some other players to finance that move, then you are losing points both in overall league and minileague, and the punt was not worth it.

So, that in mind, you should first and foremost ask yourself: how confident I am that during these rounds I will make more points with RVP in my team than with Studge/Aguero in my team?

Well he can't afford Studge either so it's not a disaster (not looked after his money)..His current front line is Lambert, Ade and Suarez..So he will probabaly go for Ade> Remy/Lukaku for the DGW...giving him 10 DGWers,.

Okay, that changes it. Then it might really pay. And if RVP doesn't seem to hit form, you can always get Studge back for GW31.

    Got 7 for this week.

If I use my 2 FT to get to 9 I would be taking GW31 DGW'rs out.

Just do not know if its worth it?

Was going to remove Kosc but DGW31 now.

Always outside the top 50k, makes howlers like this, compared to your stats, as I said not really a rival. I'd back you 1/10 each season to win the League, sorry if this is an anti climax but I like to be realistic and honest!

Been away for a couple of days, so I have two questions...
Was Puncheon rested, injured or preemptively suspended cause of some tweets? And Snod - he had a wrist injury (great transfer, btw)? What are the chances of both of them playing next week?

      Puncheon - Mostly likely suspended
Snod - has some injury and is a doubt for next match

Puncheon - 65% chance of starting
Snod - 50% chance of starting

OK I am willing to do a few hits with this lot. Any trade recommendations?

Players playing this GW will be in BOLD:

    BORUC

    DAWSON - Coleman - Kos - Chester - Collins

    HAZARD - LALLANA - Silva - Nolan - Sterling

    RVP - ADEBAYOR - Sturridge

    Repost due to no replies:

Anyone contemplating whether or not if 4-3-3 is a good formation for GW 31?

    My team ATM is

    Marshall Mannone
    Coleman Ward Clyne Burner Ivanovic
    Hazard Lallana Eriksen Mata Pozuelo
    Suarez Sturridge Adebayor

    0.7 ITB and 2 FT

I don't want to get rid of Hazard but instead bench him ( suggestions ) hence why I might play 4-3-3

Any ideas on how I can get Yaya and Agüero both into my team for DGW 31?

    Cheers in advance lads

I'd look at dropping Mata for GW31, I am. Mata is making way to fund Aguero. You could just do Mata > Yaya or bring in another DGW for Mata and upgrade Adebayor to Aguero.

I.e. Mata & Adebayor > Johnson & Aguero (if that works)

Well, here's some simple laid out facts for those contemplating DGW strikers (incl some alternatives)...

    Aguero
    Games: 17 // Goals (Assists): 15 (9)
    % Games w/ attacking return: 76.5% // PPG - 7.71

    Bony
    Games: 24 // Goals (Assists): 10 (1)
    % Games w/ attacking return: 33.3% // PPG - 3.79

    Giroud
    Games: 26 // Goals (Assists): 12 (7)
    % Games w/ attacking return: 53.8% // PPG - 5.34

    Lukaku
    Games: 22 // Goals (Assists): 10 (6)
    % Games w/ attacking return: 59.1% // PPG - 5.04

    Remy
    Games: 23 // Goals (Assists): 13 (2)
    % Games w/ attacking return: 52.2% // PPG - 5.22

    Rooney
    Games: 22 // Goals (Assists): 10 (11)
    % Games w/ attacking return: 63.6% // PPG - 6.05

    Sturridge
    Games: 20 // Goals (Assists): 18 (6)
    % Games w/ attacking return: 80% // PPG - 7.70

    Suarez
    Games: 23 // Goals (Assists): 23 (19)
    % Games w/ attacking return: 82.6% // PPG - 9.74

    van Persie
    Games: 16 // Goals (Assists): 11 (2)
    % Games w/ attacking return: 62.5% // PPG - 6.00

Well, if I'm looking at whose most likely to score I think the numbers speak for themselves. That's made up my mind on strikers for the DGWs. In other news though, since when did Suarez have so many assists?! Incredible.

In a DGW I'm more concerned with what's the chances of my player scoring rather than his fixtures tbh. SAS all scoring in more than 75% of their fixtures means the odds of them each of them scoring in both fixtures is 56% minimum each, 37.5% chance of them scoring in only one and 6% chance each of not scoring in either...

That's gotta be worth taking on.
