The Weekend Team News

Newcastle suffer a double injury blow to Loic Remy and Mathieu Debuchy. Aaron Ramsey remains out for Arsenal. Kyle Walker and Sandro are doubts for Spurs. Victor Wanyama is a worry for Southampton. Craig Gardner and Wes Brown are available for Sunderland. West Brom’s injury list continues to grow, whilst Michu is back in full training for Swansea:

Alan Pardew was left reeling after both Loic Remy and Mathieu Debuchy were ruled out of Newcastle’s next three to four games with calf and groin injuries sustained on recent international duty. Fabricio Coloccini will return after missing the Hull victory due to a family bereavement.

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Aaron Ramsey will miss the North London derby, despite earlier whispers that the Welshman would make his long-awaited return at the weekend. Ramsey is out for a couple of weeks, whilst Mesut Ozil is sidelined for three-to-six weeks with a hamstring injury. Nacho Monreal is available, though fellow left-back Kieran Gibbs is still a doubt. January signing Kim Kallstrom is finally injury-free and Yaya Sanogo “has a chance” of making the trip to Tottenham.

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has a near fully-fit squad to choose from for the weekend, after confirming that Craig Gardner and Wes Brown have both resumed training. The pair missed last week’s loss to Hull with knocks but are in contention to face Palace at the weekend, as are Jozy Altidore and Valentin Roberge who have recovered from illness.

West Brom’s injury woes have worsened with Pepe Mel ruling Steven Reid, Claudio Yacob and Billy Jones out of the trip to Swansea at the weekend. The trio have knee and hamstring injuries respectively and join Chris Brunt and Diego Lugano on the sidelines.

Garry Monk could be boosted by the return of Michu following several weeks out through injury. The Spaniard is back in full training, with Monk set to make a decision on his involvement later today. Elsewhere, Pablo Hernandez is expected to feature after limping off against palace, with later scans revealing no significant damage. Jonjo Shelvey is unlikely to be involved following the recurrence of a hamstring problem, whilst Nathan Dyer remains a doubt with a bruised foot. Chico Flores will miss the game through suspension, meaning Jordi Amat will fill in ahead of the injured Kyle Bartley.

Alex Tettey is available for Norwich following an injury scare against Stoke last week. Michael Turner and Jonas Gutierrez remain sidelined for the Canaries, though the pair have returned to training following hamstring and calf injuries respectively.

West Ham have the luxury of an almost fully-fit squad to choose from, with Sam Allardyce confirming that Joey O’Brien and Marco Borriello are the club’s only injury absentees for the trip to the Britannia.

Tim Sherwood is sweating over the fitness of Kyle Walker and Sandro after both players were subbed off during last nightโ€™s Europa League defeat against Benfica.

Jack Cork has been ruled out for a few weeks with an ankle injury for Southampton, whilst Victor Wanyama is a doubt. Dejan Lovren was ill earlier in the week but “should be fine” to face Norwich.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrowโ€™s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

Thought long and hard about this weeks el capitan...

I can't do a scouser vs Utd, Spurs looked a bit rubbish last eve so that rules out Ade, so staying with Haz. Least you know he starts, is on form, and is on pens... Saurez(vc)

I've put the other way around, personally. Not sure about Haz away from home and Suarez more potential to be explosive.

Quite possibly. I think they need to use him properly, seems like they're on entirely different wavelengths on the pitch. He wants through balls, the others want to hoof it up the pitch.

Great team but I'd be tempted to downgrade Baines -> cheap (as you've got Bardsley/Williamson) and upgrade Nolan -> Gerrard. But that's it - the rest looks really solid. I'll be getting a similar thing for about a -12 ๐Ÿ˜ณ

I still think the #1 rule is get players who play... there's plenty more games to go, I'd rather not have to worry about one of my players getting a game going forward as you might want to focus transfers elsewhere. Just my 2 cents, I'd rather have Azp + another player than JT + "dead player with maybe some potential some games." Arsenal are out of CL as well, no congestion.

Tough one... what about playing Koren (if he's fit for the double) and ditching Snod -> Nolan/AJ/Sterling? That leaves you with a cheapo mid, Lallana waiting on the bench for next GW.

I agree too. I can see that the question thing they've added at the end is to try and make up for it but it's nowhere near as good.

I do like what Mark and Granville do though. I wouldn't listen every week it comes out otherwise!

I doubt United will offer RVP a new contract any time soon. He's still got two years left, and he'll want a dramatic increase in salary (Rooney-level). He'll be 32 when his current contract ends so I don't think there's a rush on United's behalf.

about schurrle love too. mourinho gave him a start in the match after he was moaning about fixture congestion. then he got another start as it's pretty hard to bench a player after a hattrick. then one of the first players sacrificed v spurs, back to where he was again, a no go area. sell!

Sell. Willian will likely fight his way back into the starting lineup. Ramires might even be used on the right or in a 4-3-3, so even less spots.

    A) Nolan & Azpi
    B) AJ & Coleman (-4)

    Zabaleta or Baines?

Using ppg, Baines (7.4m) theoretically has 56 points more to offer this season while Zabaleta (6.0m) has 48 points coming his way.

So, I suppose my question is this; is the 1.4m premium worth paying to earn 0.66 points per week?

Depends who you are giving up in midfield. You also gotta look at the fixtures, which are in Everton's favor, and the fact that you can ditch Baines to get Zab for his last double.

Overall I'd go Baines, or even Coleman.
