World Cup 2014

World Cup 2014 – Introducing PlayON

We now turn our attentions to PlayON, who have just launched their new site for the World Cup at www.playon.co. The team at PlayON have been working hard behind the scenes over the past year building this new site and have launched it ahead of Thursday’s opener between Brazil and Croatia. We’re delighted to announce that we will be supporting their game over the summer:

Some of you may already be familiar with PlayON – a game powered by Opta stats that we covered over the previous domestic campaign. In this new site there are plenty of new features, with Gameweeks being run for all groups and each individual group for each round.
If you’re new to PlayON or simply require a re-cap, don’t worry. In an article tomorrow we will look at how to select your squad and also cover the rules and points scoring systems, whilst we’ll also be on hand to roll out a new Player Picks article prior to each Round’s deadline – giving you a heads-up on any potential bargains before the next batch of matches gets underway.

Crucially, PlayON differs from many other Fantasy games in that the player prices alternate in accordance with their previous displays over the tournament. This means that looking for bargains is never the same from one Round to the next – Kevin de Bruyne may be cheaper than Eden Hazard to start with, but a strong performance for Belgium’s opener with Algeria would see the former’s price rocket in time for Round 2 and perhaps force his previous owners to look elsewhere.

PlayON is also a betting exchange so you can put your money where your mouth is. There are one-on-one and multiplayer games on offer and you can also take on Ambassadors such as Robbie Fowler, Les Ferdinand, the Fantasy Football Scout and Opta Joe. There are also new game types and pay-out structures in the new site, as well as a leaderboard which adds together your top five Gameweek scores over the course of the World Cup, with the top finisher winning £500.

For now, though, head on over to PlayON to check out their new and improved website – you can select whichever Gameweek you want to play from in the menu in the top left. Keep any eye open over the next few days as we ramp up our coverage closer to the big kick-off.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

So with 3 playable midfielders on my bench with '4 days' to play, how do i bring all 3 on at same time exactly?

Start them. Even if they're non-playing 1m players. One of them could come off the bench and get a gammy goal. Can sub him out afterwards.

Still not sure about dates but always put the players playing first on before the rest.

I think there's scope with Algeria, cheap as chips and last chance saloon material as they'll play last in each of the group phases.

If you are going down the route of three big hitting forwards (and 2 cheapies) which three are you getting?

I am currently on Neymar Messi Sanchez

Though the sanchez may become RVP if I downgrade SchaEr to VonBergen - worth it?

Unlike UCL, no extra cash for the later rounds.

Like UCL, you buy 5 or 6 1m fillers, unselectable post group phases, to maximise cash for the remaining hitters taking you through the wildcard knockout phases.

Unlike UCL and UFPL where most games start at the same time or you can only make changes after each day we can sub after each game, and possibly mid game ?

    😉

Because there is no extra cash...it is very important to have a significant number of "cheapies" who do not advance past the group stage !

The transfers are free, no hits in this game at any time.

But the players in knockouts are pricier, better teaams, so it's a good plan to maximise money for them. The 1m should all be knocked out then so there's more scope getting them now and keeping them until the end, 6x 1m player leaves 94m for a remaining 17 good players.

Good evening lads! kind of a repost, with 1 change

While you're struggling with you McD game, I'm playing a different World Cup game (I'm norwegian)
However I would appreciate greatly some help anyways, again

The game is very similar to FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE, albeit these main differences:
¤ 3 points extra to a player for winning a match, 1 points extra for draw
¤ No save points or bonus points awarded
¤ We get 3 transfers each round, at least in the group stages
+ BRAZIL PLAYS 2 TIMES IN THE FIRST ROUND(Croatia and Mexico), AND NO GAME IN THE 2ND ROUND

    Team value: 100M
    ITB: 0M
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Cesar(5.0)
    Ramos(6.0) ¤ Vertonghen(5.0) ¤ Evra(5.0)
    Muller(9.0) ¤ KDB(7.0) ¤ Di Maria(8.5) ¤ Oscar(8.0)
    A.Sanchez(8.5) ¤ Neymar(C)(9.5) ¤ Messi(11.0)
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Bench: Cillessen(3.5) - Garay(5.5) - Janmaat(3.5) ---- Cheapest mid available in the last spot for 3M

    Plan for GW 2:
    Transfer out Oscar, Neymar, Sanchez
And get in Ronaldo, one of Robben/RVP, and a mid. And field Cillessen, Garay, Janmaat

In conclusion, do you see any bad picks or failed tactics? It's quite a friendly budget we got.

Appreciate the help very much 🙂 🙂

He started in only 5 of the last 10 games for Belgium, but probably he is.

He is not. 50/50 with Van Buyten, maybe slightly in Van Buyten's favor even.

Both have played very little this season.

Van Buyten played the last 2 friendlies while Vermaelen was the one needing matchfitness the most.
