What are people thinking in terms of Liverpool cover?
IMO Sturridge too expensive; I doubt he'll replicate last season's form Suarez-less.
So with their defense failing to convince me, that leaves the midfield.
Here are the candidates:
Gerrard, Lallana, Sterling, Henderson, and Coutinho.
Gerrard: He was magnificent last season. Being priced at 9.0, he could prove a bargain or a waste. Without Suarez there to pluck down and finish every long pass he gives, I think he'll find it difficult to replicate the form of last season. With premium midfield options such as Ramsey, Sanchez, and Hazard,it will be difficult for many to justify another 9.0+ priced mid.
Lallana: This one is particularly tricky. Last season he thrived in a Southampton setup where he was the main man. With Suarez gone, there's an opening for star player. Personally I'm going to wait until preseason to give my verdict on him. If he proves himself to Rodgers in early August he could very well be Liverpool's attacking gem, but we'll have to wait and see.
Sterling: Still only 19 years of age, he's one of the rising stars in world football. I'm convinced he'll deliver, but will he be worth the 8.5? I'd say go for it if you have the money.
Coutinho: This one I'm excited about. Obviously we have to look at preseason, but after a disappointing campaign last time out and a full rest over the summer, I think the diminutive Brazilian will be out to prove a point, and could prove to be an invaluable addition to any FPL team.
Henderson: 6.0. That's all that needs to be said. He's finally delivering on his promise, and at 6.0 he could prove a great cheapish midfield option, leaving you with an extra 2-3m to spend on other players.
Personally I'm waiting till preseason to decide.
