Ultimate Fantasy Premier League – Fantasy Football Scout League Details

Last week saw the official launch of the new pay-to-play Ultimate Fantasy Premier League (UFPL) game for the season ahead. After taking part in the beta-phase in the final few months of the previous campaign, we’re keen to get involved again and plan to publish an in-depth guide over the next week or so, assessing the rule set and variety of strategies involved:

Costing £5 entry per team, the UFPL is a squad-based game that offers a cool £25,000 winner’s prize and a monthly prize of £1,000. For those unfamiliar, we’re essentially handed a budget of £160m to build our 25-man squads but, for each Gameweek, can only select an 18-man squad, leaving seven of our squad out in the cold.

The UFPL favours the more hands-on approach and affords us a “stick or twist” dilemma for every day of the Gameweek, which allows us the option of replacing poor performers with options off the bench – a concept familiar with those who played the FIFA McDonald’s World Cup 2014 or the UEFA Champions League games.

For those who are looking to get involved or have already began to tinker with their first drafts, we’ve set up the official Fantasy Football Scout league – to join, the code is 524-87.

    Is this too punty?

    de Gea // 4.0

    Luis // Davies // Mariappa // Cameron // (Wisdom)

    Sanchez // Fabregas // Eriksen // Sigurdsson // (Albrighton)

    RVP // Dzeko // Pelle

Would much rather have Giroud than Pelle, not convinced by him at all, but I don't want to cut the 1m from anywhere else. Is it alright as it is?

He is but I think Giroud is a great pick. Might bump Davies down to a 4.0.

Guaranteed bar injury. Not flexible enough to play elsewhere. Especially when you pay that much.

Ah... didn't really fluffy pillows and gold lame were involved. Well then... bummer for me I can't fit him in until something surprising happens at ManU (I don't know what, but I'm tripled up on them at the moment, and I shall not waver)

Find the 1.0 to get up to 8.5... more options at 8.5... if Pelle doesn't work out, you're in a tight spot.

Or... its otherwise a balanced good looking team.

Even if you don't get Giroud you still have Arsenal cover in terms of Sanchez, however saying that I do tthink at £8.5 million represents good value.

The only big team's defence that I am considering is MUN. Until Game Week 4.

Anything else is Lunacy, in my view.

What I will do ... is spend big on the defences that I do choose.

I had a good long look at Chelseas clean sheets in the Prem last season pre Matic signing and then following his signing. The reason I done this is imo he made a huge difference protecting the back 4. He was class in that position. their clean sheet percentage before he arrived was 39%. From his 1st game to the end of the season that increased to 57%. On that basis, I'm having them from the start

Nice work GD. I may for similiar reasons, but it doesnt make me happy. One of my strengths is picking up cheap CS's regularly, absolutely hate wasting money on a grinder team such as Chelsea. But there may be no other option this time.

I like the Naylor pick and he is perfect to rotate with Pieters. Not sure on the Saints/Hull rotation.

as you know I hate rotation

Krul/Elliot is not especially popular but

          a) it's cheap (8.5)
          b) it's rotation proof
          c) good value for saves (and possibly CS if Newcastle can get back to the form of 2 seasons ago)

I like the de Laet pick, but not for the start of the season... Leicester's opening fixtures are awful and you will waste a transfer on him or lose team value.

Pucheon, Sidwell & Jelavic make me feel like you should have money in the bank that needs to upgrade one of those... and downgrade one of either Puncheon or Sidwell

Vlaar if he goes to Southampton or anywhere outside Villa

Chester or Rosenoir at Hull (who have a nice run of fixtures to start... before you may need to drop them if they get too far in Europa League)

I'm being impressed by Shaw's bonus potential today thanks to Berbilly. TBF, I'm now sitting on Bego + Krul, Cahill and Verm........

While you're here, how's life treating you in URS-Aecom, and is Verm definitely going to Utd?

Haha URS-Aecom. I have heard through the grapevine that it may not happen because the Aecom shareholders are kicking up a fuss about us being too expensive. Wont really affect me anyway as our office is so far from any Aecom highway offices. Bit worried about becoming a small bridge jobs only department though with Aecom's expertise in large spans.

That said in reality I am just waiting for the mandatory payrise which is definitely not coming. you?

No idea about Verm, but it would make a lot of sense. He is a CB that is available and decent, so a quickwin whilst they concentrate on the more important area of CM.

Looking forawrd to it. Our office is also safe as houses, and Aecom don't have URS's cringeworthy attitude to risk when working abroad. They have offices in Africa and everything!

Haha, I've seen that. I have to admit I fall somewhere in the midde with regard to the approach I would take to those regions.

I'm hoping that the Scott Wilson offices start talking to us now that there is a bigger boy crapping on them. No SW employee ever realises that the UK URS offices are always left out but it was definitely going on.

Bear in mind, whilst I loved the attacking Man City double of Aguero and Dzeko, until we see what formation Pellegrini will use, lets be careful.

Fernando could be less of a rotation player for Fernandinho and could partner him in a 4-2-3-1 with Yaya pushed right up behind Aguero.

Food for thought. I hope it doesn't happen. Can't have another Yaya season.

    RP: My thoughts on fabregas..

a lot of people saying he will be in the double pivot with matic but also saying he will have lampard's role. when lampard was banging them in for chelsea in his pomp he wasn't in a double pivot.

and cannot see mourinho starting too many games with just one holding midfielder in matic. he isn't the biggest fan of leaving his defence exposed. he used to have lampard with someone like makelele & essien with him

‘Look, if I have a triangle in midfield – Claude Makelele behind and two others just in front – I will always have an advantage against a pure 4-4-2 where the central midfielders are side by side. That’s because I will always have an extra man. It starts with Makelele, who is between the lines. If nobody comes to him he can see the whole pitch and has time. If he gets closed down it means one of the two other central midfielders is open. If they are closed down and the other team’s wingers come inside to help, it means there is space now for us on the flank, either for our own wingers or for our full-backs. There is nothing a pure 4-4-2 can do to stop things’. - Mourinho
    http://www.zonalmarking.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/new_chelsea_drogba_lampard_terry_cole.jpg

i'm worried fabregas will just rotate with the other attacking mids. if he is lampard's replacement then he will not be in the double pivot. lampard only played there when he was getting on a bit and he rarely played there in the big games

I'm sure I have seen this before.

And you don't spend that amount of money without aiming to use him. Plus the experience. I am going with him for now.

Bear in mind Oscar had a lengthy world cup, so Mourinho may start without him anyway.

Pre season bigger games usually give us a bit more of an inclination. Not the ones against Accrington, but the harder games later on.

The agreement was more on the 10 role of the 433.

Hendo could have go on a Ramsey and score loads. He made the right runs last season but went for the safer option of passing to Sturridge/Suarez. He'll be one to watch but I wouldn't start with him.

Wisdom once his loan deal comes through (supposedly)

Rodgers has said that he is leaving on loan for guaranteed play time.

Was all set for Dzeko but I think he could be a gamble.

Aguero is a given but Jovetic/Yaya could just as well play behind Aguero instead of a 442.

Pelligrini loves Dzeko but he also rates Jovetic very highly.

Dzeko always before Jovetic unless he is saving Edin for something

Silva is 10x better as a 10, and he plays on the wing. Pelle will stick to 4222, because they won the league with it, destroying teams in the process.

Arsenal are expected to announce the signing of Nice goalkeeper David Ospina very soon after agreeing terms over a five-year contract.

    A) Rooney, Hazard, B. Davies

    B) RVP, Fabregas, Duff/Upson (any 4.0 alongside Wisdom on the bench)

I really want RVP, think he will do very well, but the money goes an awful long way. On B currently.

If RVP isn't fit to start the season, think i'll get Rooney and Mata.

Equally if Mata plays the sneijder role he could be gold this year and underpriced at 9.0, especially with those fixtures.

I don't think United would have that good of a start, in FPL terms. Fixtures are favourable and they could win all their games, but they're not a high scoring team. A lot of 1-0's under LVG, IMO.
