With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

    Thoughts on Shane Long at Southampton for 6m?

    He does not seem like a good option this week.

    However, he will surely start from GW2 onwards and Southampton have very kind fixtures.

      Very good point, one that I have completely overlooked, definitely one for the watch list, could be an absolute steal if he's nailing down a starting spot

      It's surprised me a bit that transfer considering he only joined Hull last year.

      Personally not keen I think hes pretty inconsistent.

      But saying that, Southampton have the best attacking fixtures GW 1-10.

      It is interesting isn't it?

      Obviously all players that do well and ones that wiles in value a lot.

      I agree with Kudakudakuda. Maybe if we go with him, it is best using him to rotate with a midfielder.

      He rotates well with Mutch until Christmas.

      Yoshida and Chambers could only start one gameweek each so may cost you transfers.
      Maybe go for Chester, Naylor or Rio instead to save this.

          No worries!

          I'd say Chambers is the better pick than Yoshida if you want one of them (Chambers will play at home vs a managerless CPL where as Yoshida's one game will be against LIV away!)

          Wenger has said Chambers could play RB, CB or DM so could be a good pick. but more are nailed on long term for that price than him.

      I like this because its slightly different to the usual team.

      Just keep an eye on that defence, there are better options available at 4.5.

      You're gonna have to transfer out Chambers, Blackett and Bruce if (or when) they get dropped.

      Chambers, Blackett and Bruce aren't going to get much game time at all, so there's your problem.

      Downgrade on Lamela to strengthen at the back.

        This. You can go Henderson route or Siggy route for Lamela.
        Look for cheap, nailed on defs (Moore, Vlaar, Chester, Duff, ...). Chambers is okay for 1 or 2 week only

          I also have .5 on my bank at the moment, what could be good options to start with? Maybe to change Blackett and Bruce? I'm confident Chambers will find ways to play this year so I want to hang on to him. Should I do Chester for Bruce then?
          What else could be good?

        I was thinking maybe doing that, and pick up Mutch or Young at 5.5 to free up 2.5m
        And then should I get Terry for Blackett . I'm also intrigue by Kolarov... I now ManCity doesnt have a good schedule, but he has a good attacking upside.

        the third striker is a temporary one for now,bojan will prob get the nod as villa at home looks a nice fixture (apologies if as the name suggests you're a villa fan!) as for the defenders I've always gone for the cheaper options and tried to load midfield/attack. if any changes are needed a few weeks into the season i'd rather have to tinker with the defence than the more prized positions

          Oh don't worry, we suck and I have a Stoke forward player too! He could work out I just rather Fletcher for the price, especially as Bojan will play wide.

          I completely agree with going cheap in defence, just maybe go for more nailed on starters. Maybe go for PVA, Naylor, Chester, Rio or Colo instead for 4.5?

          Saylor is a doubt too so maybe Hutton or Baird could be a better long term pick?

      I wouldn't spend too big on defence, maybe upgrade Chambers to Debuchy (better long term bet, won't have to transfer a defender) and swap Mutch for a 4.5.

      Albrighton is injured. Look for other 4.5 mids, link is up somewhere in this page
      Brave Diouf punt. If you sort out Albrighton and go for 3-4-3/ 3-5-2 rotation than 7.5/10

        Diouf is nailed on up top and has a 1 in 2 record in a league similar to ours and great fixtures. Also allows for a big midfield where the value is and easily be downgraded to Austin/Jelavic/Fletcher etc.

        I know Albrighton is injured but Pearson said he could play so won't be out long. He is just for the bench if desperate and has better attacking potential than any other 4.5.

        These are my reasons but thank you for the advice!!

        PVA has good attacking potential (look at his stats last season) and rotates well with Chester for the first 8 weeks.

        Who would you advise I get instead??

      Wilson is not nailed on for now, Bruce also in question. Look for nailed on 4.5 and 4 defs then: PVA/Yoshida offers good rotation.

      I don't think Bartley will play more than GW1, try Hutton or Moore instead.

      Naughton will only play a few weeks and Wilson is a risk as Huth is only lacking match fitness. I'd rather look longer term like Naylor, Colo, Rio etc.

      Lamela and Tadic are both punts but I quite like them. Maybe just do one and go Eriksen if you want to go safer.

      I like the chambers play, but after the first week or two when mertesacker is back to fitness I'm not sure how much value he'll add because he won't get all that much gametime. I like that you have PVA in the reserves in case that happens though. Your midfield has potential but not likely to explode. Henderson is a decent pick and cost effective given how many games he started last year (35 of 38) and given the fact that liverpool's offense was second to none, however he has to step up his meager assists and goal numbers to have any real impact. Ashley Young is another bargain that looks bright right now, especially with his preseason. Attack is second to none. Overall, very strong team

      I would go with B and switch henderson with Siggy or Snod. - The upper potential is bigger with them compared with Henderson.

    hazard or Yaya?

    I have 0.5m in the bank with Hazard and would just need to change Chester to Bruce to be able to afford Yaya.... both Chester of Bruce would be a sub.

      My last team was v similar and I sacrificed Jones to upgrade 3 defenders by 0.5m each. I think it's worked a lot better than relying on Jones

      Personally I think Sturridge is going to be a let down this season and I'd downgrade him to beef up your midfield. Based on absolutely nothing but a hunch.

      Maybe go PVA instead of Rio (PVA has attacking potential and rotates with Colo, Rio is an injury waiting to happen)
