The ScoutCast – Episode 134 – Starter

Gently does it. Granville and I ease ourselves into the season with another thirty-minute bite-size podcast, gradually building up our fitness before we go full tilt next month.

Yes, it’s just the pair of us again, cuddling up in our intimate studio to discuss the events of Gameweek one, whilst casting one eye on the fixtures and events to come this weekend.

We get through the usual array of regulars, with Granville explaining how a wedding and a bout of childcare threatened to ruin his campaign, just as it gets out of the blocks. We reach out to all those Siggy benchers, whilst picking the bones out United’s limp corpse following their opening day defeat. We then chat Fabregas vs Hazard, Ivanovic vs the rest (they’re going to run and run) and sing Ultimate’s praises for helping the previously unloved play their part in our Fantasy seasons.

  This. He looks pretty good don't get me wrong but the way he's being hyped up is a bit over the top. Didn't do much against us outside his nice assist. I found it worrying that he could hardly find Pelle. Cabella looked a LOT better imo

Guys am I being crazy or seeing the light?

I can't choose between dropping Clyne(WBA) or Caulker(tot) to the bench.

My other defenders are Ivanovic(LEI), Chester(STO) and Moore(che).

Basically, I don't see Saints keeping a clean sheet as West Brom are an attacking (if not slightly sub-standard) side and scored twice against Sunderland..

But I don't see QPR keeping a clean sheet at Spurs either, the only difference being I can see Caulker trying just that little bit extra at corners and set plays to stick one in his former employer's net..

Clyne or Caulker?

Or play both and drop Chester?

What do we think of United's line-up this weekend? Yes we know that Nani coming in last Sat dropped Young to LB, but Nani's now gone. Do we think Young gets another chance in more attacking role? He was good in pre-season after all.

  same problem here - I think the general consensus here is to hold off. I've considered more or less the line-up you've got here, but going with Wood you're forcing yourself at least one extra transfer, so I'm not sure it's a good idea

This, and my team is sorted for the weekend.

Planning to play 3 defenders out of Terry, Naylor, Chester, Hutton and PVA. Checked the betting websites and the possibility of cleansheets ranked from highest to lowest.

Chelsea (home to Leicester)
Swansea (home to Burnley)
Hull (home to Stoke)
Aston Villa (home to Newcastle)
Sunderland (home to ManUtd)

So it makes most sense to start Terry, Naylor, Chester and then Hutton on bench in front of PVA correct?

Just a tad worried about Hull after Europa, and whether PVA potential attack points could more than make up for the low odds of a cleansheet.

On another note, will you bench Henderson (away to ManCity) for any of the defenders above?

    Yeah he was looking fairly ugly sitting in my team yesterday but then 2 assists in 20 minutes from 0-1 down is a decent indication that he can return some points on his day.. Whether he can do it in the league is a different story but at least its only QPR!

    Im yet to make my transfer.. Wanna go Ince but his main draw is he is playin OOP. and that wont last for more than a max of 2 weeks. also i expect their first 11 to play in Europa this week since they need to win to go through(havin lost yesterday)

        think i'll just get a 4.5er for young and bench him. got Hutton/Davis/Caulker on the bench all of whom are good replacements this week. then next week swap Davis for Cabella/DeJong/Tadic etc

What is the best tactic for goalkeepers.

1) Get in one expensive (6) and one cheap (4) like Courtois and Myhill - total cost 10

or

2) Get in two cheaper models of 4,5 each and alternate first team choice after who prior the gameweek has the bigest chance of CS? ex: Krul Mannone (or Guzan) - total cost of 9

if the choice is nr 2, which 4,5-priced goalkeepers do you prefer?
