The ScoutCast – Episode 135 – Arrivals

With cheque books fluttering on the eve of the transfer window slamming shut, our Fantasy seasons could be transformed by some notable new arrivals. In this week’s ScoutCast episode, Granville and I chew over the latest fresh faces to crash the player list – United’s “Angel” Di Maria and Liverpool’s “Devil” Balotelli.

With just a single point between us and the comfort of top 100k placings, my co-host and I are more than just a little content as we the rule over the current bandwagons and preview another weekend’s action. It won’t last.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Can i get away with saving FT?

    Mannone
    Jones / van Aanholt / Hutton
    Eriksen / Fábregas / Sterling / Ramsey (c)
    Dzeko / Rooney (vc) / Diego Costa

    Green / Marney / Wisdom / Chester

        Consensus seems to be Jovetic if you have him, otherwise Rooney or Ramsey. Aguero and Siggy could also do well.

        Rooney's my C at the moment but the form and fact the its an early game kickoff concerns me..

        tempted a bit by ramsey as he has been rested, is a bigger differential, and i always like the last kickoff. but i fear captaining him, leicester haven't been too bad defensively.

      If I hold steady with this line up...

      Krul Foster
      Cahill Fonte O’Shea Ward(R?) Bruce(R)
      Hazard Sterling Mata Siggy Mutch(R?)
      Costa Rooney Naismith(R?)

      ...pick one of the following 3 to start:

      A. Ward (4-4-2)
      B. Mutch (3-5-2)
      C. Naismith (3-4-3)

      Seems like Ward is out of the question. Leaning toward Naismith due to form, But QPR has a Mutch better fixture.

      When your back-up is a barely fit, old favourite drogba, and a horribly poor Torres to come in, surely you'd be very careful about your main striker to ensure that he doesn't miss multiple games. Even if Costa's injury is slight, I can't see him playing this weekend. Chelsea are looking to play costa every week this season. With the minimal back-up, I wouldn't take any chances on his injury worsening.

      Just my 2 cents.

        A fair point, but I wouldn't be rushing him out if I had him after scoring in back-to-back games.

        Or....

        Everton away is a tough game. When your back up is a barely fit, old favourite Drogba, and a horribly poor Torres, surely you'd want to play your main striker.

          That is certainly the fair counter-argument. I suppose it really does depend on the risk factor involved, as per the severity of the injury. However, Mourinho hardly strikes me as a "risk everything" style manager, so I'd be surprised if he prioritised a single league match over the potential impact it could cause for 5 or 6, should an injury prone player cause further damage.

        In Cesc & Schurrle, Chelsea could play a 'false 9' if they need to. They've got a solid enough midfield to pull it off.

          As a Cesc owner an with Schurrle a doubt, this would be nice.

        Very good point but a counter to it may be that they push him through this weekend and then he can rest up over the international break.

        would probably agree. but what that means to me as a fantasy owner suggests he'll be out for 1 game, or maybe even come on as a sub. so keeping.
        then again we don't know the injury, could have been a dead leg which is nothing, or a strain, who knows.

      I'm in a dilemma. Help guys?

      I'm planning to make 3 transfers over the following 2 weeks (GW3 and GW4), but I'm unsure about the pattern in which I make the transfers.

      1:

      GW3 - Eriksen --> Sterling & Luis --> Clyne (-4)
      GW4: Dzeko ---> Adebayor

      2:

      GW3: Save FT and risk the price rises and falls
      GW4: Eriksen ---> Sterling, Luis ---> Clyne & Dzeko ---> Adebayor (-4)

      Any advice would be appreciated. 🙂

      Liverpool against Madrid in 2009.

      1-0 (A)
      4-0 (H)

      15 European trophies between the clubs! Should be a great game.
