The Big Numbers – Gameweek 1-3 – Forwards

The final instalment in our series of Big Numbers articles focussing on Gameweeks 1-3 is rolled out this evening. After assessing the fortunes of defenders and midfielders, we now turn our attentions to the men up front – Chelsea and Southampton’s summer signings come under assessment, as do Everton’s in-form budget striker and the contrasting fortunes of a pair of Manchester-based front men.

Currently on WC and have the following team:

    Foster(krul)
    Iva/Clyne/Chester (wisdom/hutton)
    Rambo/Siggy/Zaha/Sterling
    Studge/Roo/Costa

I think you can see my problem here, what to do? Get Balo>Studge and save/invest the 1.5m? I like pool's fixtures so that could be a move. Could also go for Welbeck+Aguero>Rooney+Sturridge and invest in defense/midflied although I'm quite happy with my defense and midfield at the moment.

Thoughts? All comments and advice appreciated

I'd go Welbeck/Aguero and invest in your 4th mid.

Hey guys, I'm on my WC. Would appreciate a quick RMT! Thanks!

    Krul (Elliot)
    Ivanovic Clyne NTaylor (Moore Wisdom)
Di Maria Ramsey Sterling Siggy (Boyd)
    Aguero Costa Welbeck

May go for Fabregas in place of Di Maria or Rambo.

Looks excellent except Wisdom might lose his place this GW or next, leaving Moore as the last 4m defender standing (Maybe Duff who has great fixtures, but he might be vulnerable). I'd upgrade Wizzy by finding 0.5 from somewhere.

    bego (myhill)
moreno - clyne, ivan (wisdom - wasllewski)
    fab, sterling, siggy, rams (boyd)
    aguero, costa, naismith

    any obvious alterations? on WC
mirallas/roonpig are tempting me but dont have a clue..

Most importantly, replace Wasilevski with a 4.0 who will actually play. You'll be kicking yourself if injuries hit and you only have two playing defenders!

I don't think I'd be too happy having to play Naismith every week either.

Other than that, looks solid. Wait on Rambo and Cotsa injury news I guess. You could go Di Maria and Balotelli if both look to be out.

Disagree about skimping on defence. Looks a great squad to me - except your 5th defender: Wasilew??? hasn't played but Moore is also 4m and has played every game. Wisdom might also be dropped from now.

        Andy & Fergies,

I am tempted to drop aguero and rambo for some odd reason...
going roonpig and maybe silva and then using the remaining 2.0 ITB to upgrade naismith?
or even go tadic and upgrade naismith to an 8.7?

        what do you gents think?

Personally i think Aguero is too much of an injury risk to invest in, although if you have him and he gets injured it's easy to swap him for another Class A striker. Not sure I''d want to upgrade Naismith while he's on fire.

im thinkin roon pig this week and this will still leave me with enough cash to bring aguero in after his next 3 fixtures if need be...
the thing is you never know when aguero will catch fire and go wild..

Should probably have a look at my team again. Any thoughts? No free transfers. 1.0 in the bank. Kinda fancy getting Ivanovic and Falcao in somehow.

    Krul, Myhill
van Aanholt, Debuchy, Chester, Vlaar, N. Taylor
    Sterling, Eriksen, Sigurdsson, Ramsey, Fabregas
    Rooney, Costa, Naismith

    1. Fergies fledgling

Wait for now. Don't make a move until after the Chelsea and Arsenal pressers.
If they're boh fit or only out for a week I'd try and get Debuchy out for another defender - can't see many Arsenal clean sheets coming soon.

I wouldn't get Falcao this week. Risk of not starting.

Maybe save and next week you could do Erik & Debuchy to Ivan & Zaha or another cheapie mid.

      • 9 Years

Thats a good team, no need to take hits. If you don't want a selection choice you could get ivanovic in next week however. I think siggy/naismith/fab rotate nicely in the next 3 fixtures though anyhow. If anything I'd swap Eriksen and Ivanovic somehow if i were you.

    A) Costa Balotelli Welbeck
    B) Costa Aguero Naismith/Welbeck (for welbeck here defence would take a hit)

basically, is Naismith worth it on the WC?

Naismith will be worth it until Barkley is back. Fixtures are great apart from GW5 and GW6, so he's a great option either starting or benched.

                    Depends how Arsenal sat up.

After the hammering at the Etihad last season I'd imagine Wenger adopting a more conservative approach and try and hit City on the counter with the pace of Sanchez and Welbeck.

Pistoris aside, who'll get the most points over the season (or at least until January WC time:

    a) Di Maria + Welbeck

    b) Ramsey + Balotelli

As much as past results say otherwise lots of 1-0 etc I feel both teams need a win especially considering Man City have chelsea next week and we will be hell bent on not losing!
      Prediction:

      2-3

have mata - ramsey - cesc - sigurdson - albrighton in the midfield currently.

worry that LVG to play mata at his favourite position in an improved united squad plus good fixture. that could be disastrous LOL

Mata for form, Ramsey for injury doubt, Cesc for fixtures. I'd get rid of Mata

"I have Azpi behind me and he helps me when I attack or have to defend. Off the pitch, we are very close friends because he can speak French and understands everything.

"It is important for me to play with him because I know how he plays... I think he can reach the level of being one of the best right or left backs in the world."

    Eden Hazard

Starting to think that Felipe Luis may have to spend most of the season sitting on the bench.

Looks like it..Seems obvious some sort of understanding has developed between Azpi and Hazard on the pitch..that can be hard to break for a manager.

Luis is one of the best LBs in the world. He will play every game once fully acclimatised.

He wouldn't be the first good player to warm the bench at Chelsea...won't be the last either...

They didn't spend 20m on a 29 year old who's at the peak of his game to bench him. Ivanovic will get the chop soon.

Hi, would appreciate any comments on my WC selection:

    Krul (McCarthy)
    Wilson, Moreno, Naylor, Clyne, Wisdom
    Silva, Siggy, Ramsey, Sterling, Zaha
    Welbeck, Rooney, Sturridge

The defence might not be to the liking of some but playing 3-4-3 each week they do rotate nicely between them. The plan is to do Rooney to Falcao after a GW or 2 when settled, and Studger to Balo (potential) after press conf's on Friday - am leaving 2.1ITB for the above.
