Dugout Discussion

The Dugout Discussion – Monday

The final match of Gameweek 9 sees QPR attempt to haul themselves off the foot of the Premier League table as Aston Villa roll up to Loftus Road this evening. Both sides are in dire form right now, though – the hosts have picked up a single point from their last five fixtures, whilst Paul Lambert’s side have lost each of their last four without scoring a single goal in the process.

From a Fantasy perspective, only Steven Caulker has caught our attentions for the hosts – the centre-half is one of only three R’s players with an ownership above 3% in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game and sits in 7% of sides. Despite the R’s having conceded 17 goals in the last seven, Caulker’s owners will be cautiously optimistic over a clean sheet, though – the visitors have now failed to score in each of their last four league matches.

Up top, the R’s will be buoyed by their late rally at home to Liverpool last time around, though, where Eduardo Vargas emerged from the bench to notch twice in a 3-2 loss.

Paul Lambert will be pinning his hopes on Christian Benteke to make a difference for the visitors. The big Belgian returned to the starting XI last time around and whilst there’s still some doubts over his match sharpness after months on the sidelines, he’s proven time and again he’s more than capable of dishing out punishment to obliging top-flight backlines.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Costa fair enough because of his injury problems, but I wouldn't be selling Hazard before QPR.

just to clarify, FFF doesn't have Costa to drop tonight and has been fairly accurate with drops

FPL stats has had him to drop the past 3 nights. unreliable

I'd agree. On FPLS Costa's unused transfers out at the end of last gameweek are being used as part of the calculation, but there's some evidence that the new price algorithm resets these at the end of the gameweek. Same with Aguero with respect to his next rise.

Agreed. And I was planning on getting him in. But selling Cesc for him would be madness. And doubling up on them both while ditching Sterling or Siggy doesn't seem much better.

For me to be honest, it's more of a boredom thing.
I still have the template midfield but I'm considering ditching Sterling to Hazard since I dont have Costa. Cant get myself to do it yet as it would cost me -4.

See a lot of people bringing in Sanchez but getting rid of the wrong players! In my opinion, Di Maria, Sigurdsson and Fabregas should stay in your teams. I got rid of Sterling (which could backfire) but it made the most sense to me considering the way Liverpool are playing and the amount of games Liverpool has.

Sigurdsson's bad run won't affect him much.
Sterling away to Newcastle is a decent fixture but he has Chelsea after. Can't see him getting much out both of those fixtures without Sturridge.

Costa back in training, reports he might need surgery but nothing confirmed by Chelsea.

Hutton picked up light injury in training, should be fine.

Sakho had a scan today, we'll know the results over the next few days. Looks unlikely he will be back for the weekend, but hopefully back the week after.

Sakho out for 1-4 weeks, Costa needs an operation - but can still play and his injury can be managed while he waits for it.

Surgery for Costa in June 14, or am I reading it wrong?

Looks a reasonable bet. If they can manage the injury all season, they will.

If you were forced to chose would you rather

    a) No Arsenal v Burnley
    b) No Chelsea v QPR

If Costa is out that could be my call unless I get Welbz

Arsenal most likely to not score.

      B)

Arsenal will (sadly) destroy Burnley, 4/5/6-0

Chelsea will probably murder QPR and it wouldn't come as the biggest surprise to see another Arsenal fail would it? And don't forget that Welbeck is a donkey anyway.

    I want Hazard in. 2.3 ITB, 1FT.

Have both Pelle and Tadic. So thinking Tadic out for said Hazard?

Others in mid I could sacrifice would be Stirling - Good fixtures and still just about bringing in the points (sturidge back hopefully soon should up his output).
Erikson - Only just brought him in.
Sigurdson - would require a hit.

Me & two mates top a ML ( Barnado's Cymru ) and were considering meeting in an in-between city to cheer on a goalless draw. Between us we had Guzan, Hutton & Rio. Would have been on the quiz machine within 20 minutes.

Evening. Need a little help with 2FT please.

    Krul / Mannone
    Terry Wisdom Chambers Taylor Clyne
    Siggy Sterling Tadic ADM Cattermole
    Naismith Costa Aguero
    1.4 ITB

Looking at Nasimith + Cattermole out, can't afford for Pelle without a -4 somewhere. Want to keep Costa. Or Just upgrade Cattermole and save the other?

    Thoughts appreciated.

If Costa's deemed injured I'd do:

      Naismith>Welbeck
      Costa>Pelle

Like the Welbeck pick, not sure it's worth getting rid of Costa for Pelle when I have Tadic. Will think, cheers
