Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Gameweek 9 – Monday

Charlie Austin grabs both goals and Eduardo Vargas bags an assist as QPR see off Villa 2-0 at Loftus Road. Paul Lambert’s side fail to score for the fifth successive league match as popular budget option Alan Hutton misses out with an ankle complaint.

Austin at the Double
The R’s frontman was partnered by Bobby Zamora and scored twice as Harry Redknapp’s side climbed off the bottom with a vital home win over Villa. Owned by just 0.3% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers heading into last night’s encounter, Austin’s brace underlined how increasingly influential he’s becoming in recent matches – that’s three goals and an assist in his last four, compared to a single strike in the first five Gameweeks. With back-to-back showdowns against Chelsea and City in the next two, it’s fair to say few will be looking at the R’s right now, but with Newcastle, Leicester, Swansea and Burnley from Gameweek 12 onwards, the 5.7-priced Austin may yet persuade some he could be worthy of the outlay.

Vargas in the Points Once More
Having emerged from the bench to notch twice against Liverpool, the Chilean was handed a starting role on the right last night before moving up top in light of Zamora’s withdrawal. After teeing up Austin for the second, Vargas took his tally to two goals and a pair of assists in his last three appearances, but at 6.4, few will be willing to consider him over Austin, given that the latter also has spot-kick duties to bolster his appeal.

Ferdinand Benched Again
The centre-half was a sub against Liverpool last time around after sustaining a minor groin problem prior to the match. Despite his availability for last night’s encounter, Redknapp continued with Richard Dunne alongside Steven Caulker and was rewarded with a second clean sheet of the season, suggesting Ferdinand’s pitch time is in real danger, with his 4% of FPL owners looking for a way out.

Another Blank for Villa
The signs look ominous for the Midlands outfit after they failed to score for the fifth successive Gameweek last night. To some extent, it was understandable that Paul Lambert’s side had drawn blanks against Arsenal, Chelsea, City and Everton but hopes were high of a turnaround at Loftus Road, given that their hosts had conceded at least twice in six of the previous seven. Christian Benteke and co. once again failed to impress, and with Spurs, West Ham and Southampton in the next three, Fantasy faith in Villa’s main men is unlikely to pick up anytime soon.

Hutton Worry for Lambert
An ever-present over the first eight Gameweeks for Villa, the right-back was sidelined due to an ankle problem last night. Hutton is the most popular cut-price defender in the FPL game – now up to 4.2, he currently sits in over 13% of sides after serving up three clean sheets in the first four. Having conceded 13 goals and earned his owners four points in the subsequent five, a possible spell on the sidelines could be the ideal opportunity to part company with the Scot as Villa’s toils continue.

    Need some advice on this one please. This is my team:
    http://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/33704/event-history/9/

    Which one is better?

    1) Lukaku Sterling -> Sakho Sanchez for a -4

    2) Lukaku Sterling Naylor -> Aguero Downing and any defender less than 4.6 (please suggest one because they are all crap to me) for a -8.

    The RMT tool favors no2. The move is a long term move so I don't mind the extra hit between the 2 options. I think it will be compensated.

    Help appreciated.

            I wouldn't bring downing in now personally, although you need aguero so if thats your only option go for it. Not for -8 though. Can you not just make two moves without the defs and do it for -4? If not and sacko fit I'd prob do 1, however if not look to get aguero soon.

              I am 0.1 short. That 3rd Aguero rise screwed me. That was my plan initially but now I need to free 0.1 and Naylor has terribl fixures coming up so why not.

      Sakho is a doubt so I'd avoid that for the time being. Also Lukaku is in a bit of form and has decent fixtures so no need to get rid of him.

      That being said, and it won't be popular on here, I quite fancy:

      Sterling, ADM & Lukaku -> Hazard, Sanchez & Welbeck (4 points)

        ADM has great fixtures after the City game. 3 home games in 4 and we all know what his home record is. 2 goals 2 assists in 3 (excluding the Chelsea game)

        My problem with Lukaku is his game time. 60 min and 70 min appearances from a 9m player is frustrating. He is also not as explosive as his WBA days. Everton also have many options up front after buying Etoo.

        Chambers is 4.6. Already have Duff and Collins is just back up for Tomkins. Unless Tomkins is out for the long term but I don't know if that is the case.

          Pocognoli, Wilson? James Chester also seems to be back in the running. Coloccini (joint top bonus points for sub 4.6 defenders).

            I already have WBA coverage in Wisdom. Wilson has terrible fixtures coming up and Stoke are not solid at all anyway. Same for Chester. Colo and Vlaar are the 2 options I fancy. They have good fixtures and hopefully they can find form soon. Newcastle just started to.

    What do you envisage your Strike force being after WK12 ?

    I'm currently 174th overall without Kun but would be aiming to move from Pelle/Welbs/Costa
    to
    Aguero/Costa and a 3rd striker dependent on form and money could be Welbs/Pelle or cheaper like Sakho etc

    Best move here fellas?

    Bank 0.2m, 2 freebies

    A) Albrighton -> Boyd
    B) Sterling -> Ramsey/Walcott (8O re Walcott)
    C) Chadli/Siggy & Sterling -> Sanchez & Boyd

    Krul, Elliot
    Baines, Clyne, Chambers, Wisdom, Hutton
    Hazard, Sterling, Siggy, Chadli, Albrighton
    Aguero, Costa, Pelle

      Either use 1 FT to do Albrighton to Boyd or use both to sell Sterling and do something about your GK situation. Krul needs to go.

          Yeah, I know what you mean - I'm in a similar boat. The way I see it this week is that Hazard can easily match Sanchez's points this week, so no need to panic. But then again, if you've got 2FT's it's so tempting isn't it.

          What would you do here? 2FT's, £0.0m in the bank.

          Foster
          Terry, Bertrand, Wisdom
          Hazard, Sterling, Tadic, Siggy
          Aguero, Costa, Pelle

          (Elliot, Marney, Bruce, Caulker*)

          A) Caulker -> Chambers and play him over Wisdom
          B) Sterling & Tadic -> Sanchez & Downing
          C) Terry & Caulker -> Baines & £4.0m
          D) Something else

            Thing is, with C) I'd be having Sanchez & Hazard....

            I'd say not C - Terry should get points at home to QPR

            A and B are both decent, my preference being A as I much prefer Tadic to Downing.

            Not easy for you to get Sanchez either....maybe Sterling & Siggy -> Sanchez & Boyd (similar to mine) ?

              True.

              Would you really be comfortable playing Boyd every week, though?

              I think bringing in Ramsey/Walcott for Sterling, when they start showing some form, could be the way to go for Arsenal. Sanchez just seems to break up the team too much, atm.

    Bego
    Kelly Chambers Clyne
    Sterling Siggy Tadic Hazard
    Costa Aguero Pelle

    Colo, Chester, Marney.

    I am 0.1 off doing Sterling out, Sanchez in for free so would this make sense for a -4 hit.

    Welbeck out, Berahino in
    Sterling out, Sanchez in

    Krul (Elliott)
    Baines, Ivanovic, Clyne (Moore, Hutton)

      Do you need need to replace him? Three rough weeks then a great run of games. Nailed on in a good, reliable fantasy team. The sort of position that isn't usually worth a transfer.

    Would you prefer:

    A. Hazard/Sterling/Chambers
    b. Hazard/Siggy/Ivanovic
    C. Sterling/Tadic/Ivanovic
    D. Hazard/Tadic/Chambers
    E. Tadic/Siggy/Ivanovic

    Any ideas on when Walcott will be back?

    And which players will his inclusion affect? Welbeck or Sanchez?

    At 9.0 he will be a great pick again if he can get back into the team.

      Sanchez and Welbeck won't be affected
      Chamberlain,Cazorla and Wilshere will be

      Welbeck
      Caz/Sanchez Ozil/Sanchez Walcott/Sanchez/Ox

      A) Sterling -> Hazard (Got Fab but no Costa.)

      B) Di Maria -> Sanchez (Got Welbeck.)

      C) Sterling -> Sanchez, Welbeck -> Sakho (4 pt. hit.)

        Need some experts' advice(s) :

        Lloris (Mc Cartthy)

        Baines - Bertrand - Wisdom (Moore,Yun)
        Sanchez - Hazard - Tadic - Chadli (Obertant)
        Aguero (c) - Pelle - Sakho

        1FT 0£ itb I dig Sanchez but selling him will provide me with more options :/

          I'm keeping Naylor. Will be very handy in 3 GWs when all my other defenders have crap fixtures and he has a few good ones in a row.

          Does Downing&Sterling out for Boyd&Hazard look like good moves?

          Reluctant to lose Downing but getting sick of having to bench one of him or Siggy. Would give me:

          Bego

          Baines Clyne Dawson

          Fabs Hazard Siggy ADM

          Kun Pelle Welbeck

            Yes, I think that's a good move. As you said, rotating mid priced mids is a nightmare. Hazard should outdo Sterling, so there's no downside.

              Cheers. Seems many are having tricky time deciding transfers this week. I don't want to lose ADM yet. I think I will consider Walcott & Sakho in soon too.

              Well, I've done it. Could easily backfire, but I fancy a punt on Hazard this week. Good luck if you do the same.

                I think Hazard is about to explode any time soon. 2 goals last week in the CL and was unlucky not to get anything vs United. Looks sharp after a slow start to the season by his standards.

            yes good move. Since you always bench one of Siggy & Downing, it comes down to the question whether Haz will outscore one of those two, and the answer has to be YES

          The Yahoo article suggests Chelsea's plan is to sew up the league before sewing up Costa's hamstring. Risky business.

            Impossible. Surgery should either happen now seeing as they have QPR (H) and the international break (it won't) or in the summer.

          I'm in no rush to get rid of costa. Sakho and Berahino have been my fall back guys for 4 weeks now and they've accrued me 65 points in that time. Beasts! When fit costa will just add to those points, no need to loose money, he'll b with me all season!

          Bego

          Baines - Ivano - Clyne ( Moore - Naylor )

          FAB - Sterling - ADM - Siggy ( Zaha)

          Bearhino - Costa - Pelle

          I Want Aguero to join my team :CRY: :CRY: , So which is better from Those Choises ?

          A- Bego & IVANO & Pelle > Jakupovic & Bruce & Ageuro

          B- Bego & Zaha & Costa > Jakupovic & Boyd & Aguero
