Versus – Fabregas, Oscar and Hazard, Last Six Gameweeks

Four points clear at the top of the table and eight ahead of defending champions City, Chelsea already look to have a substantial advantage in the title race. Next up for Jose Mourinho’s men is a run of matches which looks poised to bring plenty of Fantasy investment their way – West Brom, Sunderland, Spurs, Newcastle, Hull and Stoke in the upcoming six suggests the league leaders should strengthen their grip at the summit.

When the campaign got underway, it was a two-way battle between Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard for our affections, but in recent weeks, Oscar has also thrown his hat in the ring. The Brazilian has now started each of the last six, and having served up three goals, an assist and seven bonus points over that period, has joined Fabregas and Hazard in the top ten of the midfield standings in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game. With this in mind, we take a look at the Blues trio’s displays between Gameweeks 6-11, allowing us to assess their current form ahead of such an enticing schedule.

Hazard clearly the least effective of the three

How can you look at the GW 6-11 stats and say that? Obvious non hazard owner.

Least effective because he's not converting stats into points. Lots of players have good stats such as these - Bolasie, NZonzi, etc but they don't have the quality of end product that Fabregas or Di Maria does for example.

You could say the same of ADM compared to tadic. Both creating plenty of chances but not translating into FPL points. To be fair I wouldn't argue against anyone who chose oscar or fabregas instead. I just refer hazard. He's already won himself 4 pens this season too with his dribbles (drogba took one).

Di Maria is getting the points. Tadic did one game but that was an anomaly.

hazard is top class tho only a matter of time so poor comparison using nzonzi and bolasie

In the sample period he has not converted stats to points but he has the history to prove that he can which suggests the points will come.

It's the constant comparison to tadic as the benchmark which had me worried for my tadic > hazard transfer.

    Tadic ---> Downing
    PVA ---> Baines

    Would be for -8

I worry they will both rise 0.3 over this GW and if I don't do it now I will never be able to afford Baines

I would do this because it sets your team up for the long run and you will claw back those -8 in a couple of game weeks. Also it protects your TV getting Baines in sooner than later.

Downing will rise tomorrow night. Baines already past halfway to a rise.

I think they will be season keepers so the points will be clawed back soonish

Strange how Di Maria was 'essential' a few weeks back (I guess he was whilst scoring double digit hauls)

Not sure he has ever been essential but he was a good option then and still is. I believe the sales are more people looking for a quick way to get Sanchez in with minimal transfers.

I prefer ADM, although his form may have dipped with the non-diamond formation, he has HUL and STK in his next few fixtures... cannot be ignored. I'm an ADM owner and no chance I'm going to sell! Hazard has been playing fantastically, but poor FPL points-wise.

      1. Frank Black

Poor? Isn't he the 8th best MF in the FPL with one point less than Downing and Tadic and two less than ADM?

        1. Villan

          9 years, 7 months ago

I think Hazard hasn't been in the greatest form when watching him play (still had some flashes though). I agree with you though that FPL wise he has still kept the pace so could become a beat in FPL when/if he hits the real world form we've seen in the past

He could have at least 3 goals against Liverpool if he was little clinical in his finishing and we would be discussing the implosion that was imminent for so long not this.

          • 10 Years

He lacks consistency, only producing decent FPL points every 2-3 GWs. ADM has produced 58 points in 9 fixtures, with 3 goals and 5 assists, compared with Hazards 56 points, with 3 goals and 2 assists in 11 fixtures.
The most consistent and reliable CHE mid, FPL points wise, has been Fabregas, who is also cheaper.

He had some look getting those hauls like that free kick that floated in and a couple of scuffed shots that became assists. He'll continue to get points but hazard has chance to be more explosive I feel.

I totally agree with Di Maria having a big amount of luck in his hauls. His assist against WBA was just because of some terrific work by Fellani.

Tbf I don't think he's been as far forward as he was at the start of the season. Since Mou stated his defence wasn't performing he has been far more withdrawn (I even saw him look at Mou and then retreat in one game).

The goal agaisnt QPR for example happened on one of the occasions Ivan bombed forward.

If Chelsea can't keep a clean sheet at home against QPR and for 7.3 hasn't had any attacking returns since GW3 then I think the money is better spent elsewhere. Azpi possibly if you want a Chelsea defender imo

      Current team:

      Begovic - Mannone
      Clyne - Bertrand - Chambers - Wisdom - Caulker
Siggy - Di Maria - Chadli - Downing - Wanyama
      Costa - Welbz - Aguero

      3.0m itb
      1FT
      WC available

Im thinking of make a chance to 1 def from south (cuz of next GW's), free up som money on welbz and change a keeper (cuz of comming GW's)
      ----->
      Krul (Elliot)
Clyne - Baines - Chambers (Wisdom - Dummet)
Siggy - Di Maria - Haz - Downing (Wanyama)
      Costa - Sakho - Aguero

      or:

      Krul (Elliot)
      Baines - Clyne - Dummet - Wisdom - Taylor
      Siggy - Downing - Di Maria - 4.2m - Sanches/Haz (0.9m free if Haz)
      Costa - Sakho - Aguero

      Or any other advice?

FT to offload Bego? Tough fixtures ahead and no form, I know it feels like a wasted transfer but it might be worth it in this case. Possible opportunity to add to your bank with 4.5-4.6 keeper?

Yes, would sacrifice almost anyone (excl Baines Aguero)

You only get to play 3 strikers. Always have the 2 best going +1 plus easy to trade either if injury or Sturridge hits!

Needs a Mf downgrade so something like
              Sterling / fab > downing / Chadli
              Pelle / welbeck > Costa

Not entirely sure of your budget but I think your best bet from that would be
              Sterling > downing
              Welbeck > Costa

Surely everyone should have Costa/Aguero/x strike force?!

There is no midfielder that justifies not doing this so if you don't have it already, take necessary hits now and just get it done...

B on the guess he has better fixtures. His scoring rate is roughly 1 in 2 at Everton so it bodes well. Pelle is a donkey that people will laugh about in years to come. "Who was that Southampton player that scored a few at the start of the season and then faded into nothingness?" They'll ask.

I'm confident with Di Maria. He's a world class player who is very direct, almost constantly trying to create and score. He should be involved in a good percentage of United goals, which are set to increase now Chelsea and City are out the way and as players continue to get use to LvG's philosophy.

        A) Di Maria - dropping like a stone but I fancy him to destroy Chambers in the next game.

          draftfantasyfootball
-just get a gang together ,order your players in preference, computer will the set draft order
-most games based on simple points for appearance, assist and goals
its different from the fpl template model
another option is comunio.co.uk which i'm obsessed with as its a rolling all year draft with prices going up and down and proper trading which used to be fed by whoscored.com but its currently fked by using vavel ratings to back it

Agreed. Can you throw a little Ivanovic stat or 2 in there maybe so we can see how our other forward fairs 😆
