KPI Analysis – Forwards, Last Four Gameweeks

In our third members’ article of the week, we turn our attentions to the player Key Performance Indicator (KPI) statistics. We delve into the data once again and, focusing our attentions on the forwards, assess player form over the last four Gameweeks compared to the first seven rounds of fixtures.

For the unfamiliar, these Key Performers Indicator (KPI) tables use a series of key stats to allow our members to track a trend in player performance as a guide to their form. By tracking the frequency of certain key statistics, such as minutes per chance, and comparing them over two separate periods of time, we can ascertain patterns of improvement or decline in these areas. For those unfamiliar, we’ve rolled out a preview movie which shows just how to get the best out of the KPI tables.

That Fabregas is actually great news for those people who sold him, like me. It means that he won't get red-flagged so his price can fall faster. Many people will do Fab>Haz/Sanchez/Oscar regardless

Nice one. I actually dont think it will affect his transfers more though. If he was red flagged he'd be sold in droves and would def drop.

    A) Eriksen > Downing
    B) Save the transfer this week (and somehow work Sanchez in the following week)

If B then play Eriksen (hul) or Wanyama (avl)?

    Krul Elliot
    Baines Terry Chambers Wisdom Hutton
Di Maria Hazard Sigurdsson Eriksen Wanyama
    Agüero Pelle Welbeck
    1 FT, 0.0 ITB

Tbh your rank tells you if you doing well. If you have a bad rank this helps you identify if your captain choices or bench choices are holding you back or whether you just have crap players

Highly oversubscribed as a subject in the recent past and now and starting to be seen as the easy option by employers (rightly or wrongly really hardly matters). It's a good course but education is seeing a shift to more traditional subjects and I'm sure that Sociology subject will fall by the wayside as a door opener in the next few years.

Search most popular A level courses and read up on the shift of subjects in the last couple of years.

Got to be history then, and the other three need to be ones she will enjoy. She'll be doing 4 or more hours worth of lessons per week in each subject, plus homework & private study. That's a long time for something you find dull!

Most of all, don't try to influence your daughter too much, let her pick the subjects that she thinks are most interesting or fun. Even if its just because her friends pick a class. Often studying together with friends can make a subject amazingly fun.

Lads, time for another Draft League trade question:

    I've been offered Vlaar+Lamela for Moreno+Navas...

Vlaar: Villa suck, can't keep CS's in games they should so he's fairly useless
Moreno: Liv have great fixtures, he has great attacking stats, but not good for many CS's.
    Navas: Top 5 per-minute chances-created, passing to in-form Aguero, fixtures, featured in 10/11 games (started 5), fixture-proof.
Lamela: Piss-poor form, 3 SOG all season, potential rotation risk for EL, benched for last two games(came on at HT), though he played 90 in the previous 9 league games. Might have more trade value than Navas due to nailed-on-ness alone

          • 10 Years

Villa had some incredibly tough fixtures, with Vlaar, Senderos, Hutton and Delph injured. Before everything consprired against them, they were a good source of clean sheets. I wouldn't be surprised to see Villa finish with more clean sheets than Liverpool this season.

Then you have Navas v Lamela. Both are obviously crap, but I think Navas is more crap, and will see less game time.

          Just my opinion.

            • 9 Years

            fair enough.

Villa are currently the worst defensive team in the league though (i.e. most big chances conceded in last 6), and he's injured.

Navas doesn't usually start, but he's usually the 1st sub and features in 90% of games, and i'd fancy him to get more assists in cameos than lamela does. (in fact navas has 3 already this season, lamela has 4 including 2 against a shyte qpr side)

          Oh thanks looks good.

Just one last annoying question, how does the points scoring system work? Does the site pull in points from somewhere else or is it all manual and you just use FPL?

          1. rickardinho
            • 9 Years
            9 years, 7 months ago

the site puts them on, think it might be from opta though im not sre.

There are some variations from FPL:

            - 1 point for starting, no point for appearance. (in contrast to 1 pt for appearance and 1pt for 60 mins)
            - no bonus points
            - no assists for rebounds, OG's or winning penalties (i think)
            - minus 0.5 pts per goal against for defs and GK's, as opposed to -1 for every 2 goals conceded in FPL

The rest is pretty much the same, if i haven't forgotten anything.

Our league has 20 teams, so to keep the free agent pool interesting its set to 11 players per team, whereof 7 start each GW: 1gk, 2-4 defs, 1-3 mids, and 0-2 fwds.

Looked at the opposite way, if you jumped with enough force to leave the earth by 5cm, one the comet, you'd keep travelling up for 30km, before falling back and landing 5 days later.

The comet is moving fast through space but the launch was dropped from orbit so moved at the same rate. Easier to think of in a closed environment looking at relative movements.

From what I understand he has done the punishment of the crime he was committed for then he should be allowed to go back to 'work'. The mob mentality seems to feel that he should be punished for the rest of his life, I am with Woy on this

you have at least 4 players I would want to get rid of. Depends how you were hoping to use your wildcard. I've kept mine for the (hopefully) DGWs, and possibly to sort out the team again once I've used the winger wildcard

Wouldn't have expected that, but once you think about it, it kinda makes sense that a defender would reach the highest speeds, bursting his bollocks to get back and tackle a striker. Attackers are all about timing their runs and running with a view to controlling the ball. Defenders are just flat out trying to get somewhere.

I've got baines but am considering losing one or both to get coleman in. Clyne looks like a keeper though so not sure. id probably pick clyne as he's more nailed on and despite the fixtures i think he'll get as many cs's as chambers in the next 7

I'm a long-term Tadic owner, but have really lost patience.

Is Hazard -4 value in your opinion? Watching him, he really looks like he's about to hit his stride. Twinned with the juicy run of fixtures, I really want a piece...

Following on from my trade question above, if I were to include Balotelli for Bony in the trade (to avoid having two enigma's in my team, and also one less Liv attacker), would you accept it in my shoes? i.e:

Navas, Moreno, Balotelli, in return for Lamela, Vlaar, Bony

    FYI, my team is:

    Forster Heaton
    Coleman Clyne Moreno
    Gerrard Navas Coutinho
    Balotelli Remy J-Rod

I'm a believer in the early WC, sets you up and your not chasing for most of the season.
Keeping it for a DGW in April is not for me

        1. rickardinho
          • 9 Years
          9 years, 7 months ago

This is my first season and although I failed in the first 2 gw's (rank 750k ish) ive managed to re-jig my squad and get to 17k in any case, so i don't think early WC is that crucial. Fixtures don't "turn" enough after a few games to warrant a default-WC, and I try to build/shape my team for 6+ GW's rather than short-term points

It sounds like there are two camps with no third, early wildcarders and DGW wildcarders. I still have mine intact, let us see how long it stays like this

If they play it right, in the right DGW it could be 60-80 points I reckon. Alternatively, get-out-of-jail WC when injuries strike or ahead of a late-season GW could be pretty valuable.

        1. An Púca
          • 12 Years
          9 years, 7 months ago

And then how you you un-wind your DGW team for the next 'normal' week when your stuck with several players you no longer want?
Chances are you'll already have most of the bug team's players at that stage if the season, and so that covers any DGW's they have

Usually DGW happen for big teams anyways, due to playing in Europe and reaching late stages of cup matches. You cannot predict the weather's affect. So, still you would not mind having the players even on a normal GW.

However, you can still make a great team with normal transfers for a DGW, and then get rid with wildcard if fixtures are nasty, which is a great advantage

wow, 60-80 ?! surprises me then why is not everyone keeping it till the DGW ! My estimation is 50 points as I kept mine of last year until the DGW, and I scored 50 points above my ML average but 75 points above normal average

          1. An Púca
            • 12 Years
            9 years, 7 months ago

How many of that 50 would you have gotten in any case through a couple of hits and ft's in the weeks leading up to the GW

              • Fantasy Football Scout Member

I cannot calculate that now, but, if you are setting your mind on a DGW two or three GWs ahead. you will have to sacrifice the performance of those 2 or 3 GWs. While a wildcarder can play those week normally, then get all the player he wants for the DGW.

So, the result is not necessary immediate on the wildcarded GW

        3. Dr Dream
          • 11 Years

Need to be careful with that WCing for DGW's..Many managers without WC's prepare in advance so the advantage is never a great as many suspect it will be..Also...picking players who play both DGW's and score pts isn't as easy as it sounds (Kompany Silva and Aguero for me two years ago...all benched)..Last season a lot of WCers took out players who then outscored their DGW picks with single games, it was shocking...CARNAGE..

Yeah you can do really well.or not so well...What I'm saying it isn't always clear cut. It depends which teams are playing the DGW and whether you want those players after...or rather how those players do for pts afterwards.

I know Burnley are rubbish, but I wonder if Danny Ings is poised to be the next budget striker to find form. A couple of goals for the 21s tonight, a great set of fixtures, just got their first win.

Let's not forget how poor QPR were before Austin's run. Awful!

Was talking about this yesterday, but Bertrand is my only soton defender. I'm keeping him this week for Villa, but next week I am thinking of doing Bertrand -> Azpi.

That would still leave me with sufficient funds to do Chadli -> Sterling / Walcott or Downing -> Sterling the week after, if I decide to get rid of one of them (pretty happy with them both at the moment).

    Thoughts?
