The Weekend Team News

Leighton Baines remains a doubt for Everton. Angel Di Maria is fit for Man United’s trip to Arsenal. The Gunners welcome back Olivier Giroud, Aston Villa face a central defensive crisis, West Ham have worries over Diafra Sakho and Stewart Downing, while Vincent Kompany returns to training for City.

Olivier Giroud and Mikel Arteta are both in contention for Arsenal’s home clash with United, though Arsene Wenger has admitted “it’s just a question of how ready they are”. Earlier this morning, the Arsenal boss confirmed Danny Welbeck will be assessed later today after picking up a hamstring knock in midweek and went on to say he doesn’t think Theo Walcott will be available. Alexis Sanchez will also be assessed after arriving back late from international duty with Chile.

Villa are bracing themselves for an injury crisis in central defence ahead of Monday’s visit of Southampton. Paul Lambert has confirmed that Philippe Senderos is ruled out with a calf complaint, whilst Ron Vlaar and Nathan Baker are both “struggling” and almost certain to miss out. Alan Hutton is back for the Midlands outfit, though, after recovering from an ankle injury.

Sean Dyche remains hopeful Scott Arfield and Nathaniel Chalobah will be available for Burnley. Arfield picked up a knock in training earlier in the week, whilst Chalobah was forced off on England Under-21 duties in midweek.

Roberto Martinez has doubts over seven players ahead of Everton’s home clash with West Ham. The Toffees boss has confirmed Leighton Baines remains “touch and go” to face Sam Allardyce’s side, whilst Seamus Coleman (Achilles), James McCarthy, Kevin Mirallas (both hamstring), Darron Gibson and Steven Pienaar (both knee) will also be assessed. Gareth Barry remains unlikely to recover in time from an ankle injury sustained in Gameweek 11.

Steve Bruce has confirmed Allan McGregor, Nikica Jelavic and Michael Dawson have trained all week and are expected to be available for Sunday’s clash with Spurs. Curtis Davies has stepped up his recovery from a back problem and returned to training yesterday for the Tigers.

Midfielder Dean Hammond misses out for Leicester this weekend, though Nigel Pearson has revealed Liam Moore (illness), Wes Morgan (foot) and Ritchie de Laet (knock) are all available for selection.

Vincent Kompany has returned to training with City, though reports indicate he only has an outside chance of making the home clash with Swansea.

Angel Di Maria and David de Gea are available for United’s trip to Arsenal, whilst Michael Carrick is expected to recover from a groin problem in time for tomorrow evening’s encounter. Louis van Gaal confirmed Daley Blind is unavailable and is set for scans in 10 days’ time and Luke Shaw remains a doubt after being forced off on international duty in midweek. Radamel Falcao is sidelined for at least another two weeks for the Red Devils with an ongoing calf complaint.

Alan Pardew has confirmed Steven Taylor is “a big doubt” to face QPR at home, with the Magpies also missing Fabricio Coloccini, Cheick Tiote and Rolando Aarons.

Sam Allardyce has confirmed West Ham will assess Diafra Sakho and Stewart Downing after the duo picked up back and knee problems over the international break. The Hammers boss also revealed Andy Carroll is ready to start if selected, though is not 100% match fit.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter stream as breaking news unfolds.

I was going to start Hutton over Chambers until I noticed Villa are really struggling at centre half this week. Can't see any chance of a cleanie there now I'm afraid.

The funny thing is that he's generally played further forward, had more shots and more shots in the box than this time last season, but has only 1 goal and 1 assist to show for it so far.

Statistically speaking, I'd say his poor conversion rate so far this year is more surprising, or 'lucky' than he was last time out.

Already taken a 4 pointer this week to bring in Baines, Hazard and Downing for Moore, ADM and Fabergas, again, 🙂

Should I do Walcott -- Oscar for another 4 pointer (never ever done -8 before) as Walcott's game time is going to be limited till after Christmas anyway by the looks of things

I have Duff as well, I've had Dummett in teams in various games, not FPL yet as he was being swapped around with Haidara.
If I thought Dummett was truly nailed to get at least 60 mins from the start of each game I get him like a shot.

Is Hutton definitely going to start this week?

Thinking of taking a -4 to do Wilson -> Hutton this week so I have him in now for their good run of fixtures (And get rid of Wilson for their bad run after this GW), the alternative is Naylor coming off the bench when Wilson doesn't play which I don't really want.

    c) Welbeck / Fabregas / Baines -> Aguero / Brady / Dummett (-8)

I didn't pull the wildcard trigger so I'm still on this team at the moment with 2 free (willing to take a hit or wildcard still)
    Forster, Mannone
    Baines, Cahill, Wisdom, Chambers, Moore
    Tadic, Di María, Sigurdsson, Traore
    Pellè, Sakho, Agüero

I really can't decide between a few minor changes to get in Chelsea players with a -4 but still having a fair few yellow doubts. Or I could wildcard to something like:

    Guzan, Krul
    Ivanovic, Jagielka, Wisdom, Chambers, Yun
    Sánchez, Hazard, Downing, Sigurdsson, Boyd
    Austin, Diego Costa, Agüero

Top five most popular transfers this week (in order) for mids and fwds.

    Fab > Hazard
    Fab > Sanchez
    Fab > Oscar
    ADM > Sanchez
    Fab > Downing

    Pelle > Costa
    Berahino > Ayoze
    Berahino > Austin
    Pelle > Austin
    Pelle > Aguero

Only one surprise in that Ayoze is a more popular pick in the wider world than on these boards.

I bet that Fab > Downing is combined with Pelle > Costa / Aguero in 90% plus of cases!

Pelle > Austin is the one people will regret most

    Should I :
    1) Keep Eriksen against Hull, and wait for Sterling to fall in price
    2) Sell Eriksen and buy Sterling now

Hold as Liverpool,s record vs Palace in the recent past hasn't been good specially now when they are struggling...

follow the price progress and decide..if sterling drop above -90 then wait , otherwise i think sterling is a better punt if no serious issue..

If Welbeck plays vs Utd, I fancy him to score.

arsenal always struggle against united , have more significant injuries , and welbeck is poor..

        Yay from me.

Welbeck a doubt this gw and now competing with Giroud.

He will play. He's clearly not badly injured and Wenger wont throw Giroud straight in. Also he'll be itching to play and score against his old club

Noticed Adm is no longer flagged. Has LVG declared him fit to play?

What to do with Coloccini? Effectively have £4.8m to spend and got lambasted for suggesting a move to Trippier yesterday

Coloccini -> Naylor possibly? (Horrible fixture this GW though)

Reducing my budget to £4.3 could also allow me to get in a Chelsea defender next week though

Captain Costa or Aguero? Been changing my mind everyday for the last couple weeks!

Costa is rested and has a better home fixture, but Aguero is a machine

Walcott (yes I have him) and ADM to Sanchez and Siggy.

    I know it makes sense

I was all set to do Di Maria & Pellè > Costa & Barkley this weekend, but with the yelows piling up do we reckong that sitting tight for one more week and getting a few 2's and 3's is a better bet than rolling the dice on my planned transfers?

I'm still leaning toward doing them, but my feet are getting a wee bit cold

Don't sell Pelle this weekend and Barkley is not a good pick
