The Midweek Team News

Newcastle have worries in defence as they head to Burnley. Arsenal have concerns at left-back for the home clash against Southampton, who are set to be without Morgan Schneiderlin. Enner Valencia returns as the Hammers head to the Hawthorns, Yun Suk-Young could be poised to recover for QPR, whilst Stoke have a midfield headache ahead of their visit to Old Trafford.

Wojciech Szczesny remains sidelined for Arsenal’s home clash with Southampton. Arsene Wenger has also confirmed that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal are all doubts, though hopes to have one of the latter two available to feature at left-back.

Morgan Schneiderlin has been ruled out of the Emirates clash and is set for adductor scans. Jack Cork is back for Ronald Koeman’s side, though, after recovering from a weekend illness.

Mark Noble is a doubt for the Hammers’ trip to West Brom later this evening after suffering a recurrence of a calf complaint during the weekend win over Newcastle. Enner Valencia is back in the squad after missing the last two matches though injury, though fellow forward Diafra Sakho is still unavailable. Winston Reid returns after serving a one-match suspension.

Gary Monk has confirmed that Swansea have no new injury worries ahead of the home clash against QPR. Nathan Dyer is set to return to the squad after missing out at the weekend.

Steve Sidwell (knee) could be out for up to six weeks for the Potters, whilst Glenn Whelan is expected to be sidelined for a couple of weeks with a calf complaint. Phil Bardsley is back in training after recovering from the illness that forced him to miss the weekend trip to Liverpool.

Newcastle are facing a mounting injury crisis in defence for the trip to Burnley. Alan Pardew is already without Tim Krul and Fabricio Coloccini and is now sweating over the fitness of Mike Williamson, Massadio Haidara and Daryl Janmaat. With Moussa Sissoko and Jack Colback serving one-match suspensions, the Magpie manager has revealed he has included three youth team players in his matchday squad.

Sebastien Pocognoli is a doubt for West Brom after sustaining a dead leg at the weekend. James Morrison is back in training and will be assessed for the visit of West Ham.

Leicester’s David Nugent is set to be assessed after picking up an ankle problem at the weekend. The Foxes boss Nigel Pearson has also confirmed that Dean Hammond is back in training but tonight’s match is set to come too soon.

Harry Redknapp remains optimistic that Yun Suk-Young will recover from the knee knock that forced him off in the weekend win over Leicester. Bobby Zamora could also be in contention – he requires a late fitness test after missing out on Saturday with a back problem.

Mamadou Sakho is back in training for Liverpool but this evening’s trip to Leicester will come too soon. Mario Balotelli is sidelined once again with a groin injury.

    Aguero - Bony - Costa

    Have Chelsea coverage in Fabregas.

Worth to transfer out Costa for a hit?

Blimey, Man City have lost 1-0 to Sunderland in their last four league meetings at the Stadium of Light. That's odd and very worrying for those thinking of captaining Aguero.

Ok, thanks Granville. I know they kept a petulant Costa at bay, but I can't see Aguero blanking for the third gameweek in succession.

I am captaining Gylfi anyway 🙂

Certainly puts me off Aguero (c). Very odd results - but I guess shows how well Sunderland can be at defending against quality teams.

    My team is

    Krul Adrian
    Fonte Baines Wisdom Chambers Taylor
    Boyd Fab Siggy Sanchez Downing
    Rooney Aguero Austin

I want to get either Azpi or Clichy for Fonte. Do you reckon Clichy will get benched when Kolarov is back?

This isn't going to be easy. Need to set the alarm, then react to the team news- without doing anything stupid. I forsee trouble. Will be waking up to find that I've sold Aguero after not spotting his name on the team sheet.

Bony or aguero for captain? I know QPR are letting goals in for fun but bony just doesn't get as many chances as aguero, such a headache

Guys do you think Clichy will get 4 points more than Bertrand this week? If so i'm going to take the 4pt hit, otherwise i'll duck it? H2H league!

I reckon he will but i've benched him as my other defenders have decent enough fixtures.

Lambert captain, cant believe this isn't being talked about, scored a goal gw before last and was very unlucky not to have scored last time out, but assisted nevertheless. I'm a leicester fan as well but we are dire at the moment.

Infact I'm half thinking after liverpools boost of confidence from last gw to put sterling back in, could run riot against us tonight :\

I'm not sure about which players to bench... my team:

    Adrian
    Wisdom-Creswel-Baines-Chambers-Duff
    Downing-Hazard-Sanchez-Fabregas-Ameobi
    Aguero-Giroud-Kane

    Should I bench:

    A) Duff-Wisdom-Ameobi
    B) Duff-Ameobi-Kane
    C) Duff-Wisdom-Kane

    Thank you!

Any UFPL love out there? I'm making a squad specifically targeting the December Manager of the Month Award and have come up with this so far:

    Courtois/Howard/Fabianksi

    Baines/Clichy/Koscielny/Chambers + Bartley/Hutton/Dummett/Wisdom

    Sanchez/Fabregas/Eriksen/Sterling/Siggy/Downing + Wanyama/Cork

    Aguero/Rooney/Lukaku/Behrahino/Austin/Kane

The one player I really want that isn't in here yet is Hazard. Thoughts?

Not sure on the funds but can you downgrade a goalkeeper and upgrade Sterling?

        • 10 Years
        9 years, 6 months ago

It's at 160 already so it'd be Howard -> Eliot or Courtois to a £4.5

Bony or Rooney in for Costa and then slap the captains armband on...

    Or just captain Aguero?

I have 2 FT's this week and don't want to make any changes (I wildcarded 2 weeks ago) and I don't foresee any required changes for next week either, I really like my team.

The only maybe is that I have Costa. Should I swap to Rooney just for 1 week and then swap back? If I am not using the transfers anyway then it makes sense. Is there a better option for this week? Can afford any striker (bar RVP) and have Aguero and Welbz.
