The Weekend Team News

Charlie Austin is back for QPR’s trip to Hull. Hector Bellerin requires a late fitness test as Arsenal head to Palace, Remy Cabella is likely to miss out for Newcastle’s visit to City, while Gabriel Agbonlahor and Carles Gil are available for Villa’s first match under Tim Sherwood.

Chris Ramsey has confirmed that Charlie Austin is “back in contention” for QPR ahead of the trip to Hull, after returning to training following injury. Sandro is still in the “conditioning phase” and therefore still available, while Ramsey also rules out Mauricio Isla through injury.

Remy Cabella is “almost certainly” out of Newcastle’s trip to City with a medial ligament strain picked up in training. Elsewhere, the Magpies have revealed that Paul Dummett doesn’t require an operation but will be sidelined for up to 12 weeks with a knee injury.

Victor Anichebe (groin) is Tony Pulis’ only injury concern as the Baggies prepare for the trip to Sunderland. They could also be boosted by the availability of Youssouf Mulumbu who is back in training, though remains short of full fitness.

Aston Villa have confirmed that Gabriel Agbonlahor and Carles Gil are both back in training and available, having missed the cup win over Leicester through injury. Tim Sherwood could be without Nathan Baker and Philippe Senderos, though, as the pair remain injury doubts for the visit of Stoke.

Alan Pardew is sweating on the fitness of James McArthur, with the midfielder rated as “touch and go” for the meeting again Arsenal. Meanwhile, Pardew believes Yannick Bolasie should be “okay” for the weekend having made a return to training. Jonny Williams meanwhile, has suffered a setback with a groin injury in training and will be monitored over the coming days.

In his Friday morning press conference, Arsene Wenger has revealed that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in back in full training but is short of fitness, whilst Aaron Ramsey is expected back in ten days. Hector Bellerin is set for a fitness test later today, though Jack Wilshere is set to return to the squad after recovering from injury. Wenger gave no further update on Mathieu Flamini, who was regarded as a doubt yesterday due to a hamstring problem.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche has received a welcome boost with Stephen Ward making a quicker than expected return from injury. The defender is set to go into the Clarets squad for the Stamford Bridge test. There is also positive news on Matty Taylor, with Dyche revealing that the winger is making good progress from a troublesome Achilles problem.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

1FT and £2.3m in the bank. Did want to save my transfer ideally with the DGW coming up, but I have 3 injury doubts in Defoe, Aguero, and Bellerin on the bench. Nor is Clichy guaranteed to start. Thoughts?

    Foster
    Clichy PVA Clyne
    Sanchez Silva Hazard (c) Cazorla
    Aguero Defoe Kane

    Bench - Bellerin, Wisdom, Ameobi

Out of the three if out I'd ditch Defoe, other two should stay for now.

Honest question, why did you buy Clichy? his rotation with lolarov is just so annoying.

Yeah was a big mistake, I just expected him to be first choice and liked their fixtures. Doesn't even get cleanies when he starts lol

Get a Villa def for Wisdom, gives you a sure starter this week n decent cover in 27.. You should save next week then and have 2FTs for DGW..

Looks quite good actually. I would recommend sticking to your plan of saving your transfer. Likely that 2/3 of your doubts will play. Don't bench them thought!
      Good luck

    2FT 0.4ITB

    DDG (Hamer)
    Terry Fonte PVA (Wisdom Hutton)
Hazard (c) Sterling ADM Cazorla (Walters)
    Kane (vc) Aguero Giroud

    1) Sterling -> 8.8 or less mid
    2) Sterling and Wisdom -> 8.8 mid and cheap def

Also thinking of getting Yaya in soon but not too sure how to go about it.
Keeping also in mind of spurs and QPR DGW, may want to get Eriksen and/or Austin in then.

    Suggestions maybe? Thanks guys!

yeah agreed with @Cheeseoid, was just afraid of the less favourable fixtures in the coming weeks for Sterling, and the fact I'm lacking a Sanchez or Yaya who would probably get nice returns in the coming weeks!

Looks good. I am unconvinced Austin for DGW is worth it. He may end up being outscored by a number of strikers with only one match. Would save one transfer for DGW and do Sterling->Ozil if managable. Keep wisdom and get rid next round.

KUN.. Che's goals will probably be distributed and its possible that Che score 3 n Haz get nothing.. If City scores 2, Kun is most likely to be involved.. Big Sam must have learned his lessons, that is playing away vs bigger clubs, they can possibly be looking to park the bus.. I also have all 3 and going with Kun, when in doubt go with Class..

arguing about who took the peno...

Hendo should have had it but he let Balo take the ball from him and Sturridge wanted to take it as well..doesn't really matter cause he scored it...with no Stevie there is no assigned peno taker, 3/4 people on that pitch could have easily taken it and scored

    2. Billy Gilmore
      • 12 Years

Don't see the fuss really. Not to mention it never should've been taken by anyone other than Balo.

Sturridge is such a greedy, selfish player - glad he didn't get to score and do his stupid little wobble dance. And to see him sulking about not taking it was even better...

Balo has a great conversion rate from th spot. I am happy he took it. What im not happy about Stevie G bitching like a girl in the studio afterwards! Hes the clubs captain. Absolutely shocking behavior for a shocking professional.

      1. djenzio
        • 10 Years
        9 years, 3 months ago

he wasn't exactly bitchin...he said that he thought as captain Hendo did the right thing by walking away and that Balo was a little disrespectful to Hendo by taking the ball from him.

it should have been something they had worked out in the dressing room, who the peno taker was going to be if they got a pen.

if Balo had of missed everyone would be calling him an idiot and say how selfish he was for taking the ball away just like they did for Mirallas. i don't think he is at fault but I also don't think Gerrard bitched about him, he didn't really seem to care that much.

        1. Billy Gilmore
          • 12 Years
          9 years, 3 months ago

Gerrard may think that Balo was being disrespectful, but he's being even more disrespectful to Balo by saying that publicly. And he's the fooking captain for god's sake. Save it for the dressing room.

            • 10 Years
            9 years, 3 months ago

It's being made into a much bigger deal than it should be...

even the BBC article headline is "Mario Balotelli showed disrespect to Henderson - Steven Gerrard" then when you read on the direct quote from Gerard was "Henderson is the captain and Balotelli showed Jordan a bit of disrespect there" and it was said very casual....

I know he should have saved it for the dressing room but he put himself up as a pundit and was going to have to answer some difficult questions...what else could he say? he was trying to take a passive/neutral ground.

we won the game. so who cares!

It's a bit messy really. There should never be on-pitch confusion over who is the designated taker and there certainly shouldn't be speculation from the players on TV afterwards.

And you'll be the first to blame someone else when he is rested, won't you?

No-one is immune from the need of rest. Least of all someone who recently had to miss some days of training, has played nearly 40 games already this season on the back of a long World Cup campaign in the summer, who plays for a CL team and has recently been showing some signs of wear and tiredness.

Never mind, ignore all that. Just look at his gametime history and assume it will continue that way regardless.

Ha, what are you up to mate? Hazard plays the full 90 simply because he's the one of the best players in the team, and Mourinho clearly recognises that. When was the last time you've seen any of Hazard, Costa, Fabregas and Matic coming off at the 60 min mark, whether or not they're just returning from injury. Let me just save you the trouble and tell you that it's never happened. Not this season, not last season either. Simply because they are Mourinho's new batch of "undroppables" and play as long as they're not dead.

I think it's an old photo. It's raining and in all the other photos it's not and they're wearing full tracksuits.

But Arsenal posted it on their Facebook from yesterdays training page

Yeah, because they have pictures of players mentioned in the article. Looks like a training photo from an earlier, warmer part of the season to me.

Like I very much doubt that Ramsey one is from the last couple of days either if he's only 1 week into 3 week rehab...

Nah that's just a photo because it's linked to injury news, he's nowhere near back apparently.

    Wisdom to...

    A. Wollescheid

    or

    B. Naughton

I'm leaning towards Naughton. Stoke are hardly adept at keeping clean sheets.

    So, Vlaar or Bruce?

Will be replacing either Jones or Bellerin, depending on how things pan out today.

      Considering Vlaar myself

Fixtures are good, and TS's comment made me guess he will change formation sometimes which may place the full backs in more danger of rotation more

They might be right...or maybe not...but I wouldn't bother running to the bookies either way.
