The ScoutCast – Episode 159 – Inactive

Only one FPL manager could withstand a 52-point hit and walk away with a smile on their face. In this week’s ScoutCast episode we tell the extraordinary tale of the FPL champion’s “inactive” Wildcard, whilst looking back on Granville’s own, rather more successful squad refresh.

We tackle all the usual regulars, as Jonty arrives armed with another array of quizzical requests from you, the community. We look forward to the Gameweek 37 double Gameweek, assess the role of end of season motivation and recall the moment that Jamie Vardy’s girlfriend turned our world upside down. No really.

This week’s episode was published live on Monday via Google Hangouts. You can view the full, uncut footage in the larger player below or via our YouTube channel.

    Hey Everyone,

    Why is nobody thinking of Vardy?

    I have 2FT and Im thinking of taking a 4 point hit and bringing in: Vardy, Benteke and Morgan>Kane, Rose and Remy. I'm Irish but I live in LA and have a lot of money riding on a private league. I just got knocked off top spot and i'm trailing by 1 point. I need all you experts to help.

    Any other suggestions? I need 3 players to turn my team around:

    Pantilimon/Foster (inj)

    Lescott, Rose (75%), Clark (Inj), Monreal, Gardos

    Cazorla Silva Mata Elia Hazard

    Augero Kane Remy

    **Opponents Team**

    Pantilimon/Guzan

    Williams Terry vanAnholt Rose Monreal

    Silva Herrera Coutinio Hazard Boyd

    Aguero Austin Murray

    THANKS GUYS!

      Those who already have Vardy can hold. But for those who don't, his foot injury is something to keep in mind, but he's not a terrible buy given his form and fixtures. When you look at Kane this week, look at his record against big teams and look at how Manchester City's defence has performed recently.

    What do you guys reckon, worth using transfer or save FT?

    Schemeichal
    Schluup Terry Skrtel

    Giroud Aguero Kane

    Subs: hendo, pva, duff

    Hello DZ 🙂

    I hope you don't mind me doing this but it'd be great if you could take the time to read, I'll probably post at some point in the future when things are busier too!

    In August 2016, I am going to be climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa (5895m/19,341ft) to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society, a cause very close to my heart. Having had both my Great Auntie and my Nana die in the past 2 years with the disease, and my Granny currently a sufferer, I have witnessed first hand what it is like for a family to look after and care for somebody whose essence and being is slowly but surely disappearing. With the ageing population, I know I am not alone in having to deal with situations like this, and so I understand the trouble people have to go through and the pain people feel when family members are affected.

    The trek is not going to be easy and I'm going to have to train, but I'm excited to say the least!

    If you'd like to keep up to date with my progress this is my JustGiving page:

    Any donations will be gratefully recieved.

    Thank you 🙂

    On reflection, how do we feel about the apparent tweaks that have been made to the FPL price rises/ falls this season?

    There was quite the debate last Autumn about it but I notice it hasn't been mentioned in ages.
    Personally, I like it. In past seasons I feel like I made mistakes by acting too early in a GW to catch a rise or avoid a drop. This time I held off most weeks, especially from around November onwards. In fact I haven't even checked FFF or FPLStats in quite a few months now.

    Saying that I always enjoyed playing the TV/ SV aspect, especially when you nailed that part of the game over ML rivals. On the other hand, I've also experienced ML rivals with 4m less TV comprehensively beating me too in years gone by. So the smugness became baseless!

    Overall, I feel it's been liberating not having to concentrate on that aspect of the game as much.

    This is probably a long winded "points over TV" post ........or maybe Kane just broke everything 😀

    1. justgiving.com/JonnyChard
      • 10 Years
      9 years, 1 month ago

      I've found them slightly frustrating at times, but it's got to that point of the season where TV doesn't really matter, and with Kane having been so cheap and so vital, it's meant people haven't had as many issues with rises/falls 🙂

      yh i dont mind the slower price rises....the balance is pretty good....just wish the predictor sites were accurate...dont think it adds anything to the game having everyone in the dark...we should b rewarded for taking the time to put in the research...plus it makes u suspect that fpl pick n choose who goes up or not which would b terrible and unfair

        I'll think the best ones will do a better job next year because they'll be tracking the transfers more accurately from the start of the season - unless, of course, FPL messes with the formula again...

      Honestly I have enjoyed both. I really just like how they changed the system to keep things fresh so we don't get stuck in the same ways. I'm sure they will tweak it again for next season. The calmness this year versus the volatility of last season both were fun I think. I do like not feeling held hostage to any of my players this season given the lower rates of their rises, though.

    4. Diva

      It's hard to judge the system this year because, as you note, Kane broke everything. Well Kane, plus the reduced returns from some of the highest priced assets. I think people might find it matters a little more than they realise right now if we have another year where a £13-14m priced player is pretty much essential.

    Schemeichel
    Ivan Skrtel Vlaar
    Sterling Henderson Fabs Hazard
    Aguero Kane Giroud

    Panti Boyd PVA McShane

    1.9M, 1FT.

    The plan was to do Fabs--->Sanchez but thinking to get rid of a Pool man instead..

    1 - Vlaar--->Kos
    2 - Henderson--->Ramsey
    3 - Sterling--->Ramse/Ozil
    4 - Fabs--->Sanchez
    5 - Ivan--->Terry/Azpi (free up more cash)
    6 - Save FT

      Nice sentiments and I agree. But (I think) from what I saw of him over the years, he would have liked us to carry on regardless. The fact that he was taking points hits right up til the end and asking for advice on which player he should get in for the rest of the season....when he knew his situation .. says it all.
      Such sad news, RIP.

    Can somebody who is coming very high up in the world rankings, please just tell me the three best transfers I can do to turn my team around. That will mean a 4pt hit. So 2 transfers would be ideal.

    I have $0.4m in the bank. My opponent has Terry,

    Pantilimon/Foster (inj)

    Lescott (5m), Rose (75%)(4.8), Clark (Inj)(4.3), Monreal (4.8), Gardos (4.1)

    Cazorla(8.1) Silva(9.2) Mata (8.4) Elia (4.5) Hazard (10.8)

      Sorry, I'm not doing great but I'll have a go 🙂
      You should concentrate on aiming towards the Arsenal/ Sunderland DGW in 37.
      You're looking good with Monreal, Cazorla and Panti in place.

      Your defence looks in trouble. Your team value must be pretty low? You may have to downgrade Silva in order to fix your defence.

          Hey, sorry to offend people. Not my intentions. I've been using FFS for years and have got lots of my friends using it.

          I do believe that some people are (in form) and others (not). But I value everyones opinions, someone with a poor ranking recommended Wickam and iv taken it on board.

          My idea was just to try get the attention of people who have confidence in their answers and not just throwing out random/un consistent recommendations at a time in need.

          Sorry man and to everyone in here. I love the forum.

        Benteke/Wickham or Vardy for Remy?

        Also, should I take a hit to fix the defense or just go for Morgan?

        Other options are Bellerin

      Hm tough. Between Grealish, Huth, and N'Doye for me. I'd probably lean towards benching the defender, though I would be surprised to see Grealish in the FPL points.

    Interesting point about from James... I currently have both Terry and Ivanovic and it feels like it could be an expensive luxury. Worth downgrading one to (for example) Koscielny and free up some cash, or sit with the two Blues?

      I don't think losing Ivanovic for Koscielny is a bad move, but I'd probably rather just keep the two Chelsea defenders and tinker around with funds and transfers in attack at this point.

    “I try to stay as far away from dirt as possible,” Tyson told USA TODAY Sports, “I was always told by my mother that if you can’t say anything nice about someone, don’t say nothing. He’s very delusional, If he was anywhere near that realm [of being as great as] Ali, he’d be able to take his kids to school by himself. Greatness is not guarding yourself from the people, greatness is being accepted by the people. He can’t take his kids to school by himself. He’s a little, scared man. He’s a very small, scared man.”

    Iron Mike still as quotable as ever 🙂 I remember Tyson once threatened to eat Lewis' kids, now he's noting where he can find Mayweather's kids without Dad around. Hmmmm

        Yeah especially the yanks but they are like that in most sports. There has been surprisingly no trash talk from Mayweather leading up to this one. I think it shows that he is a businessman and all the usual trash talk is just an act about selling the fight. This one needs no selling

    My favourite still active fighter on pac v may

    “Mayweather has the defense. He has the difficult defense,” Marquez said via Fighthype. “He uses his counter punching very well. He uses his distance. He’s a great fighter. It’s a difficult fight for Manny. He [Mayweather] has a difficult style. Mayweather has great defense. Mayweather has the perfect style to win this fight. If Manny wins, it’s better for me. My heart is for Pacquiao,” Marquez said.

    “I think Mayweather is better than Pacquiao,” Marquez said.

    In explaining how he got the better of Pacquiao in their four fights, Marquez said “I moved my body all the time and I used my speed.”

        I think Mayweather but I wouldn't bet on it. I'd love to see Manny knock him out. Though I'd also love to see Mayweather silence all the naysayers and put on a clinic, then retire undefeated as one of the all time greats.
        I respect Pac more as a person but I respect May more as a boxer so either way bring it on. So gee'd for it, got butterflies 🙂
