Think i m tripling up arsenal in the midfield..my logic is hazard might be benched..while the arsenal mid are guarantee to start at least 1 game out of 2.

A cs from arsenal oso give me 4pts without their defender..and every goal they score is 5pts..so yeah i m tripling up

hazard being sold sounds like good news for me (a Hazard owner). the chances of being rested get so overblown on this site when a rumours start flying about. I think, like terry, he will start every game. There is simply no reason he wouldn't. Its not the hardest game either: a west brom team just safe from relegation with little to nothing to play for. a double digit score would be a great differential.

Is Sanchez a must have next week?

    1. President John F. Keninnsie

He's not a must have, but going without him this close to the end of the season is very risky as he could single-handedly destroy your rank. Just ask those who didn't have Aguero last week.

Just a heads up for those selling haz and hoping to buy back next week - make sure you have enough funds as most likely you got him in early and his buying pricr will be around .3-.5 more than his selling price.

Blimey, I got him for 10.1 as well. It seems so long ago now....

Selling and then buying him back next week seems crazy, either make sure you have a decent sub this week in case he doesn't play or sell him for good, I think. Whatever you do has a risk, though.

Just looking at Just a Hats hot topic of what to learn for next year. I interested to know what thoughts and ideas people brought into this year from previous experience and did it work out in your favour this year?

For me I was adamant not to bring any player back in from injury until they had played a full game first and prove A) they were fit and B) still had the magic. Mainly based on Benteke and Aguero limping back from injury that year.

It worked a treat for me. Getting in Silva at the right time and avoiding messes like Walcott.

Fonte got me a CS and came close to scoring. Could've been the best captain punt of the season if his header found the back of the net!

I hate to think of how high I'd be if I didn't take armband risks this season. Maybe that's something I should work on next season 🙂

What i have learnt previously and it has been reinforced again is getting cheap keepers.

Pre season we all have a guess at a pair of rotating 4.5 keepers.

      Fabianski 145
      Mignolet 141
      Adrián 139
      Heaton 134
      Hart 132

If you got on Heaton from the start and just played him every week you get 134 points for 4.5 add in a rotating keeper and (rough guess) maybe add another 40 points?

      All for 9m

I remember someone posting earlier in the season that if you just had Mannone and Switched to Panti at one point, you would have the highest scoring keeper in the game 😯

Forster worked wonders for me early on too though.

I've never found rotating 4.5s to work for me. Usually it's not as simple as the guy at home keeps the cleanie so there are missed points as often as making the right choice.

I'm happy with my 4.5 and 4.0 this season. Seems there's been more keeper injuries than normal but I've pretty much avoided them.

Not trying to be to clever with differentials when there is an obvious more reliable option. Stuffed it up with ameobi over boyd on wc but generally i stuck to it

Also Prioritising getting a steady core of players in the squad rather than worrying about chopping and changing for short term fixtures

And maintaing squad balance and therefore flexibility to react to new trends.

Best ever rank so generally gone well

Nice one mate. Stability is something I need to look at myself. Im generally good in picking long term picks but no so much splitting funds evenly across def, mid, att.

      2. Shifty

would have to agree with Zan here.

But I was lucky to start the season with a good core too. Made a point to stick to a rough price structure (4.5/4.0 keepers + 1 prem def, 1 mid price, 3 budgets + 2 mid big hitters, 2 mid, 1 fodder + 1 premium fwd, 2 mid price). Made it very easy to make changes especially to the mid price folks and keep the premium players because they're still quality players.

Not being too clever with differentials also gave me a rather consistent season, spent most of season in top 10k. but the drawback of that is that you have a pretty template team and hard to rise in rank.

        1. BeachBadger
          • 10 Years

Template helped me to rise to the top early on alright but now you need those differentials alright or you become stale. I held on to players a bit too long I think

Learned and applied the same lesson this year.

Last season I was burnt by keeper rotation, so this year I decided to go with 1 keeper. Started the season with Krul + Elliot, worked until both of them got injured got injured. Sold Krul for Guzan, worked a treat. Sold Guzan for Panti on winter WC. Meanwhile I gained a keeper in Myhill (who was my bench fodder in jan WC) and i played him week in week out until GW34, when I get Schmeichel.

So I think 1 keeper strategy has worked out for me. Have used 6 main keepers throughout the season, but somehow just spent 1 FT on them.

Nice one mate. Very tempted by one keeper next season myself though I tend to do alright with rotation. I like having a back up for when the big boys come to town and you just know theyre going to dish out a spanking. Nothing worse than realising that no matter what happens, some of your players are going to blank

        1. Shifty
          • 10 Years
          9 years, 1 month ago

yea, really depends on keeper prices and fixture rotation potential. if there's good rotation potential for 9.0m, i'm all over it.

I recall early in preseason the Krul-Mannone rotation was favoured because of the home-away rotation giving you a home keeper every GW. But what many didn't choose to focus on was the quality of opposition - those were some tough games at the start of the season for them.

But i think keeper issue is just a small lesson compared to some other points above...Zan's especially.

          1. BeachBadger
            • 10 Years

I went with Krul Mannone myself but for different reasons. I actually liked some of the away games lol giving decent opposition each week.

Yeah I think overall the key thing with keepers is no matter who you get, they points difference likely wont be much more than any other keeper.

The way I see it you can get 2x 4.5m keepers and have 2 goes at guessing the form defence. You don't have to rotate if one team out performing the other.

The unreliability of price changes has had a big effect this season too. I only made early transfers about once or twice this season and I think that has helped.

Last season, I was always rushed into making transfers to avoid a 0.2 swing (player you want to buy rises, while player you want to sell drops). This season i've been able to delay transfer decisions til after pressers and I feel it has helped alot.

i wouldn't say Wenger loves Caz...i'd say Wenger likes Wilshere's tenacity more and he could get more game time. The player that he would replace without affecting the fluidity of the team is Ramsey.

Clear Wenger favourites are Kos, Ozil, Sanchez, Wilshere, Coq and Giroud imo.

talking about rotating GK etc imo i am quite confident in playing a cheap GK..whether its rotating or just a single GK.

mainly due to save points..and especially golden if they have a stretch of good fixtures.

chance is u might get a penalty save too since these teams usually concede more chances on theory.

Is Henderson ➡ Gomez for -4 worth it considering it enables me to bring back Hazard in for Ozil or Cazorla during GW 38? I’m selling Hazard for Sanchez (C) this GW.

I guess I should consider it as 2-point hit but Henderson has Palace at Anfield. He won’t be on Penalties, though. I’ll be benching Henderson/Gomez in favour of Vardy during GW 38 anyway so technically it’s a hit for only this GW, saves 1.6m thus an enabler for GW 38.

    Cazorla vs Ramsey:

Cazorla very unlikely to score, even over 2 games:

1 goal the last 10 matches. Doesn't help that the stats are good when you only get an odd assist.

I prefer Ramsey to Cazorla but when you're looking at such a small number of games, and when there isn't one player glaringly better than the other, it's probably best to just trust the gut. Or if you're chasing a rival who has one, pick the other.

Rose & Hazard > Vlaar & Sanchez worth a -4pt for this GW? Vlaar would be bench for the upcoming GW, played in the last game of season. Sanchez in will mean I get the 3rd Arsenal player coverage for the DGW?

    Appreciate the thoughts

Hi guys, this is FFS unrelated. Was wondering if any of you could help with grammar.

Is the sentence 'the issue can be proceeded" grammatically wrong? Why is it?

      Firstly, it's not a sentence.

I dont' see anything grammatically wrong with the sentence but it sounds odd and I think it's because of the unusual choice of words. It seems an odd way to structure a sentence.

Mainly what Im saying is, what comes before this to force you into such a tongue twister? 😆

Can you provide the entire sentence?

It is wrong but i dont know why!

We can proceed with the aforementioned issue

This sounds better. I think its wrong as proceeded is past tense and the can part of the sentence makes the the whole topic a future one. Maybe!

        Try adding with

'The issue can be proceeded with if we have the time.'

Still sounds clunky but doesnt sound grammatically wrong

And agree with others, it is a bit 'clunky'. put the whole sentence up in context and i can have alook

Something to do with "proceeded" being a verb and the "issue" being incapable of action.

Simple. No. There is no verb "to proceed", because it requires a preposition, usually "with" or "to". In short, it is an intransitive verb.

We proceeded to eat all the cake. Hmm.

I do think that with solves the clunky issues in this regard,

"We can proceed with this issue." Even so, "issue" is used carelessly here, where you would expect "result", for instance.

Yeah agree with 'issue'. You might proceed with the solution to the issue but not the issue itself.

A lot of people need a way to get Sanchez and other arsenal mids in for the DGW and with Hazard Possibly being rested this becomes the most logical route. DGWs bring great expectations!! Many will bring him back for the final home game which might be a very free flowing and attacking game for the home fans!

Especially if your trailing and can bring another good DGW mid or possibly a Gerrard type punt in. A hazard benching and a big score could just be that little extra that it takes to win a ML!

      doesn't make sense

but that's not to say it won't pay off. worth the risk if you're chasing a leader who has Henderson.

      im thinking it too, assuming

      hendo assist, cs, no bonus = 2 + 3 + 1 = 6

      gomez assist, goal, 2 bonus = 4 + 3 + 5 + 2 - 4 = 10

      quite worth a gamble right?
