The Weekend Team News

Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are both sidelined until after the international break. Newcastle’s Jack Colback is out for six weeks with a knee injury, Winston Reid could return for the Hammers, whilst Bojan is back for Stoke after recovering from a toe problem.

Arsenal have been dealt a major blow with the news that Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have been ruled out until after next month’s international break. The pair picked up calf and hamstring injuries during the midweek cup loss at Sheffield Wednesday, with Arsene Wenger admitting he could play Joel Campbell or Alex Iwobi on the right flank due an increasing lack of options. Wenger has also revealed that he expects Oxlade-Chamberlain to return to action quicker than Walcott.

Seamus Coleman is a major doubt for Everton’s home clash with Sunderland after picking up a stomach bug over the last few days. Leighton Baines and Mo Besic will return to first-team training today but the weekend is likely to come too soon for the pair.

Mark Hughes has revealed that defender Marc Muniesa will be sidelined for three to four weeks after suffering a hamstring injury in the midweek cup victory against Chelsea. The weekend will also come too soon for fellow centre-back Geoff Cameron, who came off early with a thigh issue in last weekend’s loss to Watford – Hughes has suggested that the American requires another four to five days to recover. Mame Biram Diouf and Jon Walters are both expected to be available despite soreness and a dead leg respectively following the Chelsea tie. Elsewhere, Bojan is set to return for the Potters having been rested due to a toe problem in midweek, while Glen Johnson is also expected to be in contention – he missed the Chelsea clash with a knock but is back in training.

Newcastle have suffered an injury blow with the news that midfielder Jack Colback is ruled out for up to six weeks with the knee injury that forced him off during last week’s derby loss at Sunderland.

Slaven Bilic suggests that the Hammers almost have a clean bill of health for the weekend. Key defender Winston Reid is back in training, though the Hammers boss has conceded he will have to “wait and see” if the New Zealand international is fully fit. Alex Song remains unavailable.

Swansea have a fully fit squad for the weekend visit of Arsenal, with Garry Monk confirming that winger Wayne Routledge is back in contention having trained all week.

Leandro Ulloa will be assessed ahead of the weekend, after missing recent matches with a thigh problem. Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri has suggested that the forward “is ready” for the Hawthorns trip.

A non-committal Tony Pulis has revealed West Brom “have one or two knocks” ahead of the visit of Leicester.

Sunderland will give Fabio Borini, Ola Toivonen, Younes Kaboul and John O’Shea as much time as possible before making a late decision on their fitness.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

0.7 short of this WC Team... am I forced to lose Mahrez?
Or DeGea to Myhill and keep faith with Pulis?

    De Gea | Hennessey
    Sagna | Bellerin | VVD | Moreno | Simpson
    Sanchez | KDB | Payet | Mane | Mahrez
    Lukaku | Pelle | Vardy

      I'd keep Myhill.

I'm on a WC, so could do Sagna to Jones and lose De Gea for Myhill.
Could just drop Mahrez though and save myself a benching issue each week.

I would think having Vardy you can deal with no Mahrez.

Yeah, thinking I might have to but it seems crazy to lose a player in such good form. Mahrez > Gosling/Drinkwater would free up some funds though.

What is your Aguero plan? If I was on a wildcard I'd be trying to get Giroud in until Aguero is back

      1. Phillips
        • 13 Years
        8 years, 7 months ago

Aguero plan is keep 2 transfers and take a -4 hit... :/
I thought about Giroud but it's a little short-term and I'm not sure who I'd drop for him. Maybe Pelle and just make do with Mane.

        1. Guru Mediation
          • 9 Years

Yeah I'd say Pelle and Mane is too much Southampton for my liking.

Giroud is short-term, but links well with when Aguero is coming back, and he's nailed on with Walcott being out for at least the next 2.

who would you play if you had both azpi and moreno? it's a direct clash.
I am leaning towards moreno this time as he is more attacking-minded and azpi is quite the opposite.
I also think azpi is likelier to defend more and receive a yellow card, but I'm definitely not sure about the likelihood of clean sheets.
    what are your thoughts?

    Mahrez - KDB(C) - Sanchez - Payet - Ayew

is barkley a good long term option for 4th/5th mid?

Just realised i can get him in with a defence of bellerin alderwield jones moreno and nyom which isn't too bad at all.

Doesn't get in the box enough for me, but doing well outside it and still good value considering he is on for 10 goals, 10 assists at this rate. And their fixtures have been horrendous.

yeah thats very good so far hey, i actually had him at the start but got rid before he started performig, think he could be a very handy option, otherwise i'd have a cheap mid and way too much money in defence.

Jones very injury prone and clyne playing lb and scoring in the cup this week would make me worry about moreno spot (plus liverpools fixt are muck for a long time anyway). Other than that this def looks ok (not sure on rotation though)

Barkley looks very hit and miss for me, I'm hoping deulofeu or mirallas become a nailed option

      1. Alittude
        • 8 Years

yes jones is a worry but i do currently have dawson so could always switch back to him when his fixtures ease up, thats a worry about moreno but he should be starting most games surely? thanks for the heads up man.

is it worth a hit to do bojan out for lukaku? He has a good fixture, but i'm a bit worried about his minutes (with diouf back and the toe injury) and lukaku looks good til' christmas while Bojan's fixtures take a bad turn soon.

    Who to play:
    Dawson (LEI) or Nyom (WHU)

Both oppositions are attacking team 🙁

Given the injury, would you hang on to Walcott for a draft team?

Or would you swap him out for Pedro?

    Sky's games this week:

    Everton v Sunderland
    Southampton v Bournemouth
    Tottenham v Aston Villa

If I wasn't an Everton fan (or a fan of any of those clubs), and didn't play FPL, that is a poor line up. The quality of games on Sky has really declined, people pay a fortune for Sky and they end up with games like Newcastle v Norwich and Spurs v Aston Villa.

Doolittle, do i invest in your man Lukaku?

I personally haven't, I've gone for Kane alongside Pelle and Vardy, but that's because I just don't really trust Everton - you never know how we'll play. He's a very good option, and he could rack up goals over the next few weeks, but I don't trust him enough to give him the armband.

If i have my captain sorted in Bony, then?

          Also thoughts on Gru?

Ah I'd also be wary with Bony! I'm 75-80% that he'll start, but there would be a niggling doubt there because Iheanacho has been much better than him so far this season. However, as a non-owner, I am very scared about that Norwich game.

Giroud is a good shout. To be fair, that Kane/Pelle/Lukaku/Bony/Giroud carousel is a bit of a lottery. I wouldn't be surprised to see any of them outscore the others over the next few, I basically just closed my eyes and plumped for Kane.

Who would you bench out of

    Monreal, Alder, VVD, Smalling ?

    I'm leaning towards Smalling...

      • 8 Years

I'd definitely play Alder and VVD. Probably would bench Smalling based on Monreal more likely to get attacking points and Swans being goal shy

That's exactly my thoughts. I can see Palace scoring as well.
