Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope – Gameweek 12

Tottenham’s Erik Lamela become the latest player to topple off the Suspension Tightrope after earning his fifth caution of the campaign during this afternoon’s north London derby at the Emirates. The in-form Argentine – whose absence could pave the way for fit-again Heung Min-Son to stake a claim for a starting berth – misses Spurs’ upcoming home match-up against West Ham United but will be available when Chelsea roll up to White Hart Lane in Gameweek 14.

With five new arrivals over the weekend’s fixtures, the Suspension Tightrope is drawing quite the crowd – there’s now an 18-strong band of wrongdoers on four bookings as we head into the international break.

Southampton’s Graziano Pelle is certainly the most pertinent of the new recruits from a Fantasy perspective. The Saints’ leading marksman currently sits at a hefty 34% ownership – having bagged four goals and as many assists in seven starts – and will be wary of committing further indiscretions ahead of a home tie against Aston Villa in Gameweek 15.

The Italian was joined by James McCarthy, Chris Brunt, Glenn Whelan and Cheick Tiote. The Newcastle enforcer has now chalked up more yellow cards (53) than any player in the Premier League since he made the switch to St James’ Park in August 2010.

In terms of new bans, West Brom defender Gareth McAuley received his marching orders for denying Anthony Martial a clear goal scoring opportunity at Old Trafford, making him the only recipient of a red card throughout the weekend. The Northern Ireland international has been handed a one-match suspension and misses out when Arsenal pay visit after the international break, returning for a trip to West Ham in Gameweek 14.

After the 2-0 defeat, Baggies boss Tony Pulis was somewhat critical of the centre-half and acknowledged McAuley’s challenge left referee Mike Dean with little alternative:

“Gareth McAuley (for the red card and penalty) should have stayed on his feet and if the kid scores the kid scores…It’s difficult for Mike. You could feel, with a couple of minutes to go, that he might look at it differently. But the letter of the law says that if he’s last man and he brings him down he has to send him off.”

Aside from McAuley, James Collins is the only other player serving out a suspension during the next round of fixtures. The Hammers’ seasoned centre-back has two fixtures remaining on his three-match ban, ruling him out of a road tie against Tottenham Hotspur and a home clash against West Brom. With Winston Reid back in the frame, however, it’s unlikely that Collins will reclaim a starting berth upon his return.

United’s Matteo Darmian is now available for the upcoming trip to Watford after he fell off last week’s Tightrope. Norwich skipper Russell Martin and Southampton’s Victor Wanyama are both back in contention after they were dismissed during last week’s matches.

As always, mainly thanks to our resident Tightrope expert Anorak, who has been keeping us up-to-date via his twitter stream.

          8.2 means SP 7.9
          8.1 and 8.0 means SP 7.8
          7.9 and 7.8 means SP 7.7
          7.7 and 7.6 means SP 7.6
7.5 and below means you make loss.
If 7.0 that means SP 7.0, not 7.6.

Well, he won't drop that quickly.

tbf Hazard looked very good vs Stoke and when he came on in the UCL. Think he's gonna be a very good option now.. However, it's still a risk. So Willian at 6.8 looks a better bet considering he takes all their set pieces and has looked consistently good all season.. if Aguero is out for a week or two longer than expected i'll be getting Willian(right now i have to get a Palace mid instead cause of problems with cash.. though tbh i'm expecting the Palace boys to do REALLY well too)

      1. Eden Hazardous

The problem with Willian is that he wont get many goals (apart from FK's)

MCI 2 NOR 1. Alex Neil with a 5-4-1 might prove useful for the Canaries again.

If Federici is still present, Bournemouth might not lose too badly.

Leicester is almost fixture proof, and no surprise if Leicester wins it.

Sunderland is beyond redemption. Good for Chelsea.

Watford's defence have a point to prove but unsure of how the match would end.

Watford held out Leicester very tightly until Gomes' defensive error and a bad foul by Kante ruined their 3 points. That is something worth considering as well.

Can we expect some information on Payet in the next two days?

He isn't selected by Deschamps before the injury happened so not too sure if Bilic would provide an update within the next few days.

Thought as much, but rather ask people who are more knowledgeable 🙂

Need him not to drop in price before any information is given out. Also, need him to be fit! 😀

Any Utd fans in the know about this Lingard fella?

Lingard can play in both wings, he is in good form and not having much competition from players in that position as Memphis is in poor form and since Valencia and Darmian not available Young is deployed in that RB role. Darmian's return from suspension might make a difference but i believe Lingard will keep his place for few weeks.

If no more injuries or retrospective bans should I save my FT?

    Butland

    Rojo-Kolarov-Toby (Williams,Richards)

    Sanchez-KDB-Mahrez-Mane (Payet)

    Lukaku-Vardy-Pelle

Looks very solid to be quite honest. I want to get some CPL in the back for next two and planning to ofload some cash for Kun.

Vardy to Bony for a hit before gw11 was an unmitigated disaster.

    Vardy: 7 + 9 = 16
    Bony: 2 + 1 (-4) = -1

And I captained Bony this week!

So personally I'd enjoy a little Vardy ban 😉

Luk. Kane and Kun (when back) is the obvious three front line to have?

Is Sanchez worth dropping to get in Ozil?

So I'm getting a little concerned with Barkley's output, but I want an Everton attacking threat. Lukaku is the obvious, but I don't want him in my strike force. Should I stick with Barkley, or replace with Deulofeu?

    Have 2 frees , so a -4

Ighalo , Sterling , Kolarov to Aguero , Bolassie , Simpson

    Gives me

    Bego , McCarthy

    Sagna , Simpson , Janmaat , Cedric , Saylor

    Mahrez , Sanchez , Ayew , Payet , Bolassie

    Kane , Lukaku , Aguero

    To light in defence ?

    1. Valar(Keith)

Sterling could be playing upfront this week vs his old club if Aguero is not back and Ighalo is pure value + you have Payet who could be injured and Ayew who is about to embark on a horror run of fixtures... Plus your defense consists of a dead Sailor and a couple rotation threats.
      Dont do it!

The best 3 strikers IMO, but I have Vardy instead of Lukaku and either Barkley or Deulofeu in place of Mahrez.

Its a toss up really, would you rather have Leicester most consistent points scorer or Everton's? The money saved swayed me towards Leicester.

Dann worth the 0.6 over Souare? i can almost never pay the premium for a defender from the same defense 🙂 .. He does seem to have a high goal threat but not sure it's worth the cash difference.. Souare is pretty attacking from what i've seen too(pretty high avg. positioning too)

He's scored twice as many points as Souare, so yeah, well worth the 0.6 I think.

    2FT - 1.2 ITB

    Butland / Myhill

    Kolarov / Monreal / Reid / Dawson / Richards

    Sanchez / KDB / Yaya / Mahrez / Anya

    Lukaku / Pelle / Vardy

Yaya to Coutinho, Lukaku to Ayoze Perez & Pelle to Aguero?
