Fantasy Football Scout Cup XII – The Final

This evening we reveal the result of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup XII final and the name of the Fantasy manager who has joined previous winners donnellyc, Jonty, Gribude, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleeping master, Mch, Wild Rover, Tdubb05 , CMIFLFC and Mark in our Cup hall of fame.

With a rank of 2,842 Leon Harris went into the Fantasy Football Scout Cup XII final, against 27,046 ranked community regular Numb, with form on his side.

Leon was at a disadvantage heading into Gameweek 32, though. While he had used up all his chips in his march to the final, including a savvy triple captaincy of Harry Kane for his semi-final clash with konman, Numb had a second wildcard, triple captaincy and bench boost at his disposal, as well as two free transfers.

Instead of using his chips to help his cause in the final, Numb opted to prioritise the forthcoming double Gameweeks, leaving Leon to claim a comfortable victory by 84 points to 69.

Numb may have shunned the use of his chips but he did use his two free transfers well, taking out Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld, who conceded against Liverpool, and Manchester City’s injured midfielder Yaya Toure for Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin, who netted 14 Fantasy Premier League points, and Dimitri Payet, who scored a wonder goal from a free kick.

Leon’s XI proved too strong, though, with his differentials of Swansea’s Gylfi Sigurdsson, Manchester City’s David Silva and Leicester’s Wes Morgan all bringing in the points. The 15 FPL points from Morgan meant that Leon managed to outgun Numb’s Leicester defender Christian Fuchs, who still scored an impressive 10 FPL points

Leon’s victory takes him to an impressive 1,303rd in the overall rankings and earns him first prize of a £200 Amazon voucher.

Numb is now 23,218th overall but with his chips still to play he looks well-placed for a further climb up the rankings. He also takes away the runner-up prize of a £100 Amazon voucher to console himself.

Thanks to all those who took part in this competition, which this year showed how the use of chips and wildcards can prove pivotal to success.

Still tinkering with the ol' WC. Currently on Lanzini as 5th MID, but tempted by Iwobi.

    Robles - Darlow
    Bellerin - Darmian - Sakho - Delaney - Simpson
    Sanchez - Payet - Coutinho - Mahrez - 5.4m
    Aguero - Martial - Lukaku

Thinking Delaney --> Gabriel for GW 34, meaning I can't pick Iwobi as 5th mid and then take a hit for 11 in GW35

You can't bring in Firmino and bench him surely!
Wouldn't be surprised if he starts to give the rest a rest after tonight's fix. too.

    Hi Guys,

    If you could, please RMWCT!
I'll have 10 after FTs with no keeper for GWK 35.
    The team is:

    Robles / DDG

    Sakho / Gab / Bell / Fuchs / Coleman

    Payet / Cout / Firmino / Sanchez / Lanzini

    Lukaku / Martial / Aguero

    Any opinions greatly appreciated, cheers!

Looks very similar to mine. Can you afford to do
DDG+Coleman to Mignolet+Smalling so you have a keeper for gw35?

      1. steaknchips
        • 9 Years
        8 years, 2 months ago

I don't have a 3rd liverpool spot. However, I have realised I can do Coleman --> Smalling which would give me a free transfer to get a keeper in gwk 35 for a FT. What do you think of that?

I personally don't rate Barkley for attacking returns at the moment.
I wouldn't really know what to choose as i don't know how the rest of your team is looking for GW35. If you're short, possibly A.
However, I really like Martial and payet, so I would try and get them both in!

Sorry to not clear the fog in any way whatsoever!

I also had lanzini, in case of replacing payet with kdb, i could get lennon instead of barkley, or iwoba and get antonio instead of lanzini.

I'd go A due to guarantee of game time. I think Darmian is likely to get a decent amount a minutes, but a late 50 minute sub with valencia back on the scene I imagine is quite plausible
