Rate My Wildcard Team Surgery – Part Three

Welcome to the third of our Rate My Wildcard Team articles of the week. These will showcase the thoughts of one of the Fantasy Football Scout moderators and contributors team on their Wildcard. Hopefully some of their key issues will mirror your own. Feel free to use this article thread to put forward your wildcard teams and to help others with their Wildcard related issues. After Jonty and Andy85wsm put forward their teams earlier in the week, next up is Spencer.

My Wildcard Team

Robles Darlow
Bellerín Smalling Sakho Jagielka Delaney
Coutinho Sánchez Payet De Bruyne Iwobi
Mitrovic Lukaku Agüero

0.1m in the bank

Strategy

I am another moderator and contributor that is going all out in double Gameweek 34 with 15 players. I’ll be bench boosting that week after wildcarding for Gameweek 33. For Gameweek 37 I’ll use my triple captaincy chip.

Key Issues

Finding Value in Goal

I’ve opted for the budget friendly Everton stopper Joel Robles and Newcastle’s bargain basement goalkeeper Karl Darlow. They offer so much value that can be invested elsewhere, but will they bring in the points in their own right?

Punting on a Palace Defender

Should I even be considering a defender from a team that hasn’t registered a Premier League clean sheet in 2016? Four games over two Gameweeks suggest they are still worth a punt, with Damian Delaney my favoured cheap-as-chips option due to his added goal threat.

Iwobi the Enabler

With 16 points across his last two games the young Arsenal midfielder offers attacking threat at a rock bottom price. But will he actually play twice during Arsenal’s double Gameweek 34 or will Arsene Wenger look to protect this young Gunner?

Blank Busting Mitrovic

Newcastle striker Alexsandar Mitrovic looks undroppable after scoring a brace off the bench in Gameweek 33. He also offers strong value and crucially plays in Gameweek 35, which is worth its weight in gold to those like me who are going all out with 15 double players in Gameweek 34.

So Long Singletons

The only upside in coming late to the Riyad Mahrez and Harry Kane points party was that I don’t have much value tied up in this pair of players that have been in sensational form this season. With the lure of having 15 double Gameweek players proving too strong I’ve bid both a fond farewell to these single Gameweek stars.

    Help please!

    Payet, Sanchez,Du Bruyne, Couthino, Lennon.
    Lukaku, Aguero, Wickham

Pretty good. Don't like the Wickham pick myself. Also Clichy is likely to only play once over the doubles. Could you downgrade Clichy to someone cheap and upgrade Wickham? Could also swap Lennon to Lanzini to save some more for the upgrade

Cheers mate, know what you mean about Wickham, just got a sneaky feeling about him though...he had 2 belting weeks just before the injury and he has 2 homers, 1 of which is Norwich.
Clichy is another I'm not sure about, but who to go for? I'm wanting 15 doublers for 34 without too much butchering for gw35.

How's this WC team coming along? 0.6 ITB that I am happy to spend. Thinking that Simpson, Mahrez and Kane will all be great picks for GW35 to save me major surgery. Also Mahrez and Kane could easily outscore other players despite not having doubles and are both in good form

    Robles, De Gea
    Lovren, Delaney, Bellerin, Gabriel, Simpson
    Sanchez, Coutinho, Payet, Mahrez, Lanzini
    Aguero, Kane, Lukaku

If you're happy to hold on to Kane and Mahrez then it looks good to me. The question id be asking myself there is are Kane and a Mahrez in a team happy to win 1-0 likely to out score a double such as KDB and Mitrovic? They'd still leave you fine for 35.

I suppose at that point it's down to personal preference!

Cheers, yeah I've been thinking about that and just not sure that it's sensible for the rest of the season (may be different for GW34) to ditch both of them. If Spurs are still in the title race and Kane is ticking along at 1-2 goals a game, I'd be kicking myself when I couldn't get him back in easily. Also, Mahrez has scored 2 of the last 4 goals in their 1-0 wins and over the next 3 games he could well do the same

I prefer B, however if you're looking to gain ground I think A is riskier but could well deliver if things went your way.

Still not settled on my WC.
One of the simplified decisions for me to make is

    Martial and Firmino
    Or
    KDB and Mitrovic

What do people prefer there? with option 1 I'd have no GK gwk35 due to ft used elsewhere, however I can just see martial cleaning up in his dgwk.

The time spent on this is becoming ridiculous!

If youve got Sanchez i'd go for KDB and mitrovic . If not martial gives you a better captain shout next week

Interesting team. Variety of options which I hadn't truly considered (especially Darlow) but do you feel Mitrovic is playable this game week against Southampton that haven't had there best season?

    Hi all

    Captain this week.

Do people not feel it's viable and/or likely that Aguero at home to WBA can outscore a Lukaku away double?

Any feedback on this WC team would be appreciated.

    Aguero/Lukaku/Mitrovic

    Playing my wild card this week and this is the team I've came up with ;

    Robles Darlow
    Bellerin, Gabriel, Sakho, Delaney, Simpson
Payet, Silva, Ozil, Mahrez with 6.6 for another midfielder
    Martial, Aguero, Lukaku

I want to keep Mahrez because I've had him from the start and would lose 0.9 mil if I took him out and then put him back in.
I could have mitrovic and sanchez instead of ozil and martial and it would still leave me with 6.6 for my last mid.

Any thoughts on what I should do or what you think of the team.

    Thanks

      Good team, Lennon/Bola for me.

Yeah I know but i don't know if i can bring myself to get rid of him. He's been unbelievable all season and i think he has a few double digit hauls left in him this season.

Who would you go for out of ozil/martial and sanchez/mitrovic if you where me?

Good team spencer, I'm close to this:
    Any comment appreciated?
    Migs/Rowbles
    Smalls/Bellerin/Gabby/Sahko/Delaney
    Sanchez/Kdb/Payet/bola/Lennon
    Kun/Lukaku/Mitrovic

    GW 34 Bola -> Firmo
    I'll sort something for 35.

        Thanks, thought about it,
I just don't trust LVG/Darmian and I have Roebles as Everton def cover, I'm more concerned with going Mitro over Marshall?

Yeah I've been thinking the same Utd's fixtures next week are looking really good. I'm even thinking of risking it and going for Rashford and then would have enough for Coutinho or Firminho as my last mid.

    DeGea/Darlow
    Bellerin/Delaney/Huth/Gabriel/Moreno

A bit of a risk about Firmino rotation risk as he is eased back toward fitness
