Dugout FC Returns to Fantasy Football Scout

We’re delighted to announce that Fantasy Football Scout are once again supporting Dugout FC ahead of the new season.

Not only have we reset our league from last year, due to the demand (we still have 69 divisions of active players), we’ve also created a brand new Fantasy Football Scout North league in preparation for the upcoming campaign.

If you missed the opportunity to get involved a year ago, we urge you to read on and see what all the fuss is about.

What is it?

Dugout FC and other draft-based Fantasy games take us back to our Fantasy Football roots; rolling back the years to a time when we played with a team consisting of unique players, dear to our hearts, over the course of the season.

If you fondly remember games where nobody but you could own Premier League goal machines such as Alan Shearer or Thierry Henry, then Dugout FC should provide you with some fuzzy warm nostalgia.

Having said that, the game is very much up to date, with all manner of technology in play: online matchday hubs for real-time updates and live chat; IOS and Android mobile apps; an Opta stats-based scoring model and the ability to run your draft night and conduct transfers in-game are all catered for.

You’ve got the option to go full old-school and gather a bunch of mates in a pub to take part in the all-important draft in your private league, although the mobile app essentially means you have the whole game in your pocket on the go.

You can log in to the virtual “draft room” and bid against friends or complete strangers by joining a public league. There’s even an option to draw up a shortlist of desired players to take care of your draft, in case you miss out on the night.

You can also set up games to run over the course of the season, or just for a month or week.

Why Should I Play?

First of all, it’s free to play. With that in mind, we really have been struggling to find a catch.

The appeal of draft games cannot be understated. There really is nothing quite like the drama and twists produced on draft night.

The plotting, the intrigue, the tactics, the highs of bagging your star pick and the lows of having to dip into the bin of rejects to complete your squad – it’s fair to say it’s one of the reasons I fell in love with Fantasy Football all those years ago.

Dugout FC takes the faff out of all the draft logistics, whilst claiming to have a unique Opta-based scoring system, taking over 2,000 events of every match into account, which they reckon is one of the best around.

Once the draft is complete, you’ll compete in a league of ten on a head-to-head basis – with three points for a win and one for a draw.

Each league can have multiple divisions and Dugout FC even takes care of the promotion and relegation up and down the ladder at the end of every season.

Your squad will consist of 18 players following the draft, although you can swap out assets to pick up free agents from the player pool at any time. You can also enter into negotiations for swap deals with other managers in your division – it’s all taken care of within Dugout FC’s tech.

The game takes this further by generating stories of transfer speculation on behind-the-scenes wheeling and dealing in your division.

How Do I Start?

By registering here: https://www.dugoutfc.com.

As mentioned, it’s free to join.

You’ll then need to decide whether to join a league or set up your own. You can create leagues that run for the season, the month, or just for a week.

If you’ve got an odd number of players wanting to join, Dugout FC will provide a Caretaker Manager to play against one person each week for the three points. The Caretaker Manager scores the average of all other teams in the division for that week.

Once that’s sorted, arranging a time for your draft date is the main priority.

Bear in mind that, with the new app, you can log in to the draft night whilst on the go.

As we mentioned, we now have a Fantasy Football Scout South League with 69 divisions and a new North League, just waiting for you to enter your teams and be allocated into a division.

You can join the new Fantasy Football Scout League via this link.

It’s first come, first served, so the earlier you get involved, the higher the division of our new league you’ll be placed in.

Our default auction date for each division is currently Friday, August 5, at 8pm UK time. Don’t forget you can use the app to get involved.

We will be running our own draft at that time over in the top division of the Fantasy Football Scout South – a league made up of myself, Jonty, Granville and other staff members – and we may even launch a live Google Hangout for the occasion.

For more information about Dugout FC, visit their FAQ.

We’ll be following this article up with a more in-depth scan of Dugout FC’s scoring system and auction night strategies next week.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Genuine question...

Has rotation ever worked for anyone longer than like 3 weeks?

Always an injury / dropping / or another must have value def that pops up and makes me throw in the towel.

Here's a look at West Ham's defensive record in the league last season, according to their starting right back or wing back. I've included the average defensive record for all teams in the fixtures that each played in:

    James Tomkins - 13 Starts, 7 Goals Conceded (0.54 per game/1.22 average), 8 Clean Sheets (0.62 per game/0.30 average)

    Carl Jenkinson - 13 Starts, 24 Goals Conceded (1.85 per game/1.12 average), 0 Clean Sheets (0.00 per game/0.30 average)

    Michail Antonio - 10 Starts, 18 Goals Conceded (1.80 per game/1.44 average), 2 Clean Sheets (0.20 per game/0.24 average)

    Sam Byram - 2 starts, 2 Goals Conceded (1.00 per game/1.34 average), 1 Clean Sheet (0.50 per game/0.24 average)

They were fantastic when Tomkins, a centre back by trade, started at full back, and terrible when Jenkinson or Antonio played there. Of course, Tomkins and Jenkinson have now left the club, leaving Antonio as the apparent first choice, with Sam Byram as his back up.

Antonio had the hardest set of fixtures, but West Ham were still well below average defensively in the games he started at right back or wing back. Unless Byram comes in to replace him, I would avoid their defence completely, regardless of the fixtures.

      Great research.

However i could of told you to avoid West Ham defense just by watching them play 😉

Even their supposed holding mids Kouyate and Noble seem to get forward alot under Billic

West Ham fans seem to be unified in their distaste for Antonio at right back. They could probably do we 3 defensive signings tbh.

@Berbs. Evening my friend . Just a question re your excellent tables. Which rating do you personally set most importance to - non Pl ranking , Pl ranking or 15/16 ranking or do you use a combination of all 3?
Also no 2 player in 15/16 ranking looks interesting in the mids .
Also have you done a defenders analysis ?

      Helloooooo 🙂

I'm taking PL ranking + 15/16 ranking into consideration the most.

Players from weaker leagues tend to stat pad i.e. Fischer and Depay. However, I'm of the opinion that if you do well in Bundesliga/La Liga, you'll excel in the PL in due course.

I'm working on a full back spreadsheet, but it's a lot of effort. Not sure if I'll be able to release that any time soon unfortunately.

    Stuck between Mahrez and Mkhitaryan.

Possible WC in GW3 - got no other United cover but Mahrez seems too good to leave out against Hull. Mkhitaryan also unproven in PL.

Any ideas about a good £5.5m 4th mid?

I was set on Feghouli initially, especially with Lanzini playing the Olympics, but then, Antonio is being consistently garbage at right back. (Still don't know why on earth they sold their best RB Tomkins) - so a midfield three of Antonio, Payet and Tore is very much possible (4-4-2 even makes it worse).

Ibe, Philips, Fischer and Gradel look like options to me, sold on none of them though...

Torje is injured and Payet is still not back in training as far as i know.

Lanzini also injured and Antonio IS playing RB even if he is woeful there.

Feghouli has played all pre-season i cant see how he wont start and play at least for the first few weeks....

Yes, that was my thinking initially, but WHam have done crazy things like play 4-4-2 and Kouyate out wide...

I'd rather say I'm actually fishing for better options than Feghouli, if there are any.

5.5m in the number 10 or even RW for an attacking team is good value for me regardless of fixtures but yeah as the season goes on hes looking less appealing for some reason.

Basically if Gradel is going to play every game i think hes the best at that price but they have so many options and Howe does like to sub early / keep fresh.

Maybe that was due to his big injury though...

Site design / interface has got far worse however which is a big put off.

how is it easier to maintain? going to be a lot of weekends involving nights out where I will probably miss a captain change now

Before you had to plan your change perfectly to get more captains.

Now you can just set it before you go out to whoever or even transfer someone in without worrying iif they play first in the next GW

Daniel Sturridge on an "individual training programme"....I have no idea how manager's have the patience to be bothered with him.

Of all the top strikers in all the world (and he's one) why did Liverpool saddle themselves with that one...

For me, the thing that separates the very best strikers from the rest is there ability to shift the ball quickly and shoot in small spaces. (accurately of course)

He is one of them with that in his locker.

Oh he's great for sure...i'd just prefer to let somebody else put up with his injuries and time wasted sorting him out. He's not the only player in the world who can score a goal.

              Indeed.

Should of added shame about most other aspects of his game, primarily fitness.

Capable of the sublime when it comes to sticking the ball in the net no doubt but it's making it on to the pitch to do that is the main issue lol

Ha...yeah...just as boring as his endless injuries and mountains of wrappings in cotton wool.

Could you be bothered if you was his manager KN ?...and don't forget your job depends on results not jut knowing that Sturridge can score for the odd game that he's fit...

No i totally agree i have had my say many times before.. for such a talented guy he has scored over 15 goals in a season in all competitions once... still shy of 100 career goals and he will be 27 before long.. for context Kane has 80 already and has just turned 23..

I get Lamela is cheap and may prove value in a Spurs attack but i cant bring myself to have a player that is probably the worst attacking option from their front 4.

Even their full-backs and Alder have massive potential for bps etc.

Its a no from me on him

Fair enough. His attacking stats toward the end of last season rivaled Alli's and Eriksen's. Sometimes it takes a while for it all to click. I'm betting on that being the case with Lamela based on the end of last season and his Copa performance.

in no order: United City Chelsea and one of Spurs/Liverpool..

need to see how Spurs cope with the CL which they can't ignore in the latter stages like they did the EL, whilst I think Klopp is a great manager and Liverpool have no Europe distractions

you'd think, but it found you 10 points shy of 1st and only 5 points ahead of a dire City and dire United in what most agree was a soft season..

enter Pep, Conte and Mourinho..not to mention the vast squad enhancements they've made/are making compared with Arsenal's moves..

to clarify I'd only make the bet if Arsenal don't sign a solid CB and striker

I could see it in a different light. Spurs had their breakthrough season with all their breakthrough players, and we still finished ahead of them...

As for your teams, United have been dire for quite some time now, and wasn't Mourinho around last season too? He has lost his mojo imo.

For me, a top four of City, Arsenal, Spurs and one of Chelsea/Leicester...

"Spurs had their breakthrough season with all their breakthrough players, and we still finished ahead of them..."

Yeah but they also have the youngest squad in the league, are quite sound and made it more robust and you beat them by only a point on the final day..

"United have been dire for quite some time now, and wasn't Mourinho around last season too? He has lost his mojo imo."

A Premier League title and FA Cup in the last 4 seasons...the football has been dire yes, but the squad has been decent enough since LVG took over and was just made massively better this summer

And yes, a bad 4 months negates 15 years of quality with 18 major trophies...let's ignore the context of him wanting to refresh parts of the squad and being blocked by Emenalo and Abramovich to suit a cliche soundbite, and all the distractions that the altercation with Eva brought on (which he did bring on himself, ugly affair).

But sure, the manager with the highest win rate in PL history (only a sliver ahead of the majestic Fergie) who has Ibrahimovic, Mkhitaryan, Pogba, and Martial at his disposal is going to finish outside the top 4:

Take your point re management and signings, however, all these new additions have to gel and work together as a team.
Really hope individual egos don't come into play!
Still see Arsenal in the top 4.
