Premier Punt Returns for the New Season

Premier Punt was a regular on our pages last season and, after a summer hiatus, we are delighted to announce it is back and ready to fire over the new campaign.

What is it?

To refresh your memory Premier Punt offers Fantasy managers a range of formats, including daily and weekly games to play.

As with last season, its weekly and daily games ask Fantasy managers to find the best 11 players from a £100m budget. This includes finding a captain and vice captain.

There’s a range of new features as well this season, including a single match format, with six players to pick.

Also new for 2016/17 is the Premier Punt app, which is available on Apple and Android.

What’s more, Premier Punt has also become an official partner of Southampton FC this season.

Why Should I Play?

Premier Punt’s scoring model mimics the Fantasy Premier League’s and translates it directly to its game platform. This makes it easy to use for those familiar with FPL. A key difference is that no bonus points are factored in, but aside from that the team you pick should be on the same principles as FPL, albeit with a wildcard in place each week.

Player prices are also different and set by Premier Punt’s own algorithm, so there is some extra thinking to do rather than simply translating your FPL line up into your Punt XI each time.

How Do I Get Started?

You can register with an account with Premier Punt here, without having to add credit card details or deposit funds.

Once registered, you need to select one of the games on offer – picking the Weekly Game type will give you access to the various tournaments on offer for Gameweek 1.

Simply select the weekly games, then choose your XI and then join up with the contest or “challenge” of your choice.

Among the main weekly game prizes is a £5 entry game with a £1,000 pot. When playing any paid game Fantasy managers can also gain access to a free entry game, which has a £500 pot.

      What are peoples' thoughts on Mark Noble and Willian? I haven't seen a huge amount of love for them on here and I think they could both start the season strongly.

        Noble too reliant on pens to be a decent source of fpl points. Willian i just don't rate for fpl. Only seems to be good at free kicks

        As above, i've tried all sorts and tinkered till my heart is content with this power 3 up front, and i just do not feel confident with the 'make up' midfield because of it, it just isn't worth it in my opinion, start sensible, strongest chance of a better start imo.

          I think my worry was that I want both vardy for gw1 and Kane for gw2 but I wasn't keen on holding over funds to do this transfer. The defence I'm happy with, mids are a gamble.

            That's understandable, just go with your gut and what you feel is right, for a whole week i was all for gambling with fids to have a power three up front, but i just feel a lot more content and confident with one cheap forward. Just my preference 🙂

        Prefer Stones to Baines unless we know Baines is on set pieces / penalties.

        I'd use your cash to upgrade Del. I don't even think he's nailed, and apparently he was woeful in their last friendly. Personally I'd look at Tadic or Lamela.

        Also see my comments above re: Gray. But he's currently in my team so that says it all!

      I'm currently on the Gray bandwagon with everyone else. But I just checked and Burnley only scored 28 goals last time they were up, and they haven't exactly spent big this summer. Maybe I'm wrong (I usually am) but I can't see him getting more than say 120 points.

      So if Benteke signs for palace this week, I'm gonna find the extra million (thank you Amat) and draft him in for Gray. Now there's a guy capable of big returns and good value for money.

          Fair point, but it's worth bearing in mind in terms of the service he's likely to get against premier league opposition. They had Ings who was a decent forward. But they lacked quality then and I suspect they will again.

        Don't think people are signing him as a season keeper but he has some form from pre-season, 4 out of 6 opening games at home and promoted teams usually show the most fight in the first couple of months.

        Benteke will be a good shout if/when he comes available elsewhere. Ditto Bony.

          I think that's spot on. But it's still quite a leap of faith, so I'm surprised he's in so many teams on here. If he doesn't fire, expect mass sales and value drops!

          He is not a good choice IMO. Scored mist of his goals against the bottom teams and a few against the top. They will struggle IMO but if they score he will be involved.

        Hardly anybody goes for a squad of 15 good, nailed players.

        The four subs are always bad and budget.

        Obviously this is because people want to maximise their starting line-ups, but is it also due to a fear of making the wrong decision and benching points?

        Surely having 15 strong players over the course of a season would see you rewarded with more points than 11 strong players and four weak ones?

        Just a thought.

          You can only play 11 and in an ideal world with no injuries etc, you want to maximise that 11 in any given gwk, surely a flawed argument? Yeah you need back up, but it's only back up and you don't want to dilute your 11.

        Hey lads, have decided that now I can start looking at how I want to set up my team. Have just started to use the transfer page extensively for the first time and as much as I think the update looks nice, I think it's definitely a lot more laborious to use. Anyone else think the same?
