The Weekend Team News

Philippe Coutinho is a doubt for Liverpool’s clash with Spurs. Sunderland stopper Vito Mannone has been ruled out for at least three months, Ryan Bertrand faces a late assessment after returning to training, whilst Arsene Wenger has still to decide whether he will start Mesut Ozil at Watford.

Philippe Coutinho is rated a doubt for Liverpool’s trip to Spurs. The midfielder has picked up a hamstring problem and was only able to take part in light training yesterday. Emre Can (ankle) and Divock Origi (cramp) are also both uncertain to feature. The pair picked up problems during the midweek cup win over Burton Albion and will be assessed, Jurgen Klopp has confirmed.

Vito Mannone has been ruled out for “a minimum of three months” with elbow ligament damage, David Moyes confirmed earlier today. John O’Shea remains out with a hip problem, though the Black Cats are hopeful that Fabio Borini will recover from a toe injury in time. Lamine Kone will be assessed later today.

Arsene Wenger will make a late decision on whether to start Mesut Ozil in Arsenal’s clash with Watford. The Gunners boss also admitted that Olivier Giroud is “a fraction behind physically”.

Joe Ledley and Wayne Hennessey are “struggling” to be passed fit for Palace’s clash with Bournemouth. Alan Pardew has also conceded that Christian Benteke is likely to start on the bench due to a lack of match fitness, with Connor Wickham leading the line.

Watford boss Walter Mazzarri has conceded “it’s nearly impossible” that he will field all three new signings, Daryl Janmaat, Younes Kaboul and Roberto Pereyra from the start against Arsenal. Isaac Success is available for selection after overcoming a hamstring complaint.

Mark Noble is expected to recover from a knock in time for West Ham’s trip to Man City. Slaven Bilic says “maybe one” of Dimitri Payet or Manuel Lanzini will be ready for the Etihad. Havard Nordtveit is almost certain to miss out with a foot problem.

Nampalys Mendy (ankle) and Jeffrey Schlupp (muscle) are both unavailable for the visit of Swansea. Claudio Ranieri remains optimistic that both could return immediately after the international break.

James McCarthy, Darron Gibson and Tom Cleverley are all expected to recover from minor knocks in time for Everton’s home clash with Stoke. Seamus Coleman has stepped up his recovery from an ankle issue but remains on the sidelines.

Swansea’s club-record Borja Baston remains unavailable for the weekend trip to Leicester due to a thigh problem. Neil Taylor will feature for the Under 23s this evening and will also miss out against the Foxes as he builds up his match fitness.

Ryan Bertrand is back in full training and will be assessed ahead of Southampton’s clash with Sunderland. Jeremy Pied (knee) is ruled out, though Oriol Romeu has recovered from the knock that forced him off against Man United on Friday night.

Hugo Lloris is still sidelined with a hamstring injury for Spurs’ clash with Liverpool, though Kevin Wimmer has recovered from a similar complaint. Mousa Dembele serves the fifth of a sixth-match suspension.

Jack Butland and Glen Johnson remain sidelined for Stoke’s trip to Everton, though Mark Hughes refuses to rule out Xherdan Shaqiri, who has yet to train this week due to a calf complaint.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

Any reason Aguero leads Ibra in the captaincy poll by such a distance? I know Hull have had a good couple of games but West Ham are a much better team, and their defence has been pretty solid so far this season. I think it's far more likely for Hull to concede a goal fest than West Ham.

On my WC gentlemen, any feedback hugely appreciated

    Heaton / Jakupovic

McAuley / Marc Wilson / Soaure / Amat / Pieters

    Hazard / Barkley / Mahrez / Capoue / Snodgrass

    Ageuro / Ibra / Negredo

Gonna swap Negredo for Benteke next week

I'll also have another 1 mil after the Negredo - Benteke swap, so could arguably change Barkley to Firmino or Sterling... or Snodgrass to a 6.5 mil Mid.... or even upgrade a 4.5 DEF to Valencia or another 5.5 mil DEF

On a wildcard, playing around with the causal 4-4-2

Would give me this starting team

    Foster
    Valencia, McAuley, Holgate, Souaré
    Hazard, Ozil, Mane, Redmond
    Aguero, Ibrahimovic

With a bench of; Jaku, Amat, Capoue, Wollscheid

Defenders probably seem weak but all the starting 4.5's have good short term fixtures according to the new Fixture Difficulty Ranking
    Palace; 1,1,2,1,3
    Everton; 2,1,1,1, 1
    West Brom; 1,1,3,2, 1

Will probably just stick to a 3-4-3 though 🙂

I've picked a GW3 team using PP's 'Anytime Goalscorer' odds for this weekend - just interested if this could regularly beat the Scout Picks team (83m budget). I noted the bookies favourite to 'Score Anytime' for every team this week (one FWD, one MID and one DEF from each team), and put them into odds order. I've included 'Clean Sheet' odds to help choose the DEF/GK. I know that these betting markets don't take into account players that are likely to get assists/bps/saves etc. but I'll give it a go anyway.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
*FWD* - The three forwards 'most likely' to score this weekend are unsurprisingly Aguero (1.40), Costa (1.66) and Ibra (1.80), so they make up the frontline.

*MID* - In midfield, the favourites to score anytime (in odds order) are Nolito (1.66), Walcott/Sanchez (2.10), Redmond (2.20), Martial (2.29), Hazard (2.40), Mahrez (2.40)

Due to budget restraints the formation will be 4-3-3 and Walcott will be selected instead of Sanchez. So, Nolito and Redmond join Walcott in the midfield three.

*DEF* - In defence, the favourites to score anytime (in odds order) are Valencia (4.50), Daniels (5.00), Nsue (5.50), Baines (6.00), Van Dijk (7.00) & Kolorov (7.00)

Valencia is the favourite and United are second-favourites to record a clean sheet - so he is the clear pick.
Baines and van Dijk are also near the top of both 'anytime scorer' and 'team clean sheet' markets - they are included ahead of the more expensive Kolorov.
The final place was between Daniels and Nsue - Middlesbrough are 'more likely' to record a clean sheet than Bournemouth, so Nsue is the pick.

*GK - The favourites to register a clean sheet this weekend (in odds order) are CHE (1.72), MUN (1.90), SOU (2.00), MCI (2.1), EVE (2.20), LEI (2.20)

With only 5.0 budget left, Forster is the selection in goal - the third favourite to record a clean sheet this week.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    Forster
Valencia - Nsue - Baines - van Dijk
    Nolito - Walcott - Redmond
    Aguero - Costa - Ibra

WC team take 3 does it still need work?

      Cech(Jaku)
      Bains,Valencia,(Amat,Kingsley,Galloway)
      Hazard,Redmond,Mirallas,Pogba,(Lee Chung)
      Rondon,Zlatan,Aguero

I understand Galloway might not start and am happy to let one of the swans defs play anyway, but with Evans playing left back and his possible " injury" or move to Arsenal I feel Galloway has every chance.

Nothing in the bank and I'm still unsure on a 6.5 striker either Rondon or Gray just liked Rondon from the start so I have him

      wildcarding

      a) pickford, jakupovic + 0.5
      b) heaton, jakupovic

that 0.5 would mean bojan/redmond over ramirez/snodgrass, or baines over williams

Inspired by Henrys appointment as assistant for Belgium chatting with a mate I was wondering if I could afford an all Belgium fantasy team.Check these out!

          Courtois/Mignolet
          Kompany/Vertonghen/Alderweireld/Denayer/Pocognoli
          /Hazard/De Bruyne/Fellaini/Januzaj/Dembélé/
          Lukaku/Batshuayi/Benteke

If I swap Benteke out for Origi I can have Mirallas in for Januzaj.
Only Chadli cant make the team.

          What a team!
