The Stock Check – Gameweek 7 – Sunday

The Zlatan Ibrahimovic exodus is set to pick up pace after another blank at home to Stoke City. Dele Alli is in the goals as Spurs end Pep’s unbeaten run and Laurent Koscielny climbs the defender standings after a fortuitous clincher at Turf Moor.

On the Rise

Heung-Min Son
After notching a midweek Champions League winner in Moscow, the South Korean caught the eye yet again as Spurs ended City’s 100% Premier League record under Pep Guardiola.

Deployed as the lone striker, Son laid on the assist for Tottenham’s second and now has four goals and two assists in just four appearances – that’s already more than his output (four goals, one assist) for 2015/16.

Notably, Son also challenged Erik Lamela for Spurs second half spot-kick, missed by the Argentine.

Subject to over 56,000 transfers in already in the Gameweek – more than any player – he continues to look Spurs’ main threat in the ongoing absence of Harry Kane.

Dele Alli
Overshadowed by Son’s recent displays, the Spurs starlet has stepped up his consistency over the last few Gameweeks. After dropping from 8.5 to 8.2, Alli’s goal means he has scored or assisted in three of the last four, offering FPL managers yet another in-form option in the centre of the park.

Laurent Koscielny
The Frenchman may have been fortunate with Sunday’s winner at Turf Moor, but his 15-point Fantasy Premier League haul has now catapulted him to the top of the defender rankings, 10 ahead of team-mate Hector Bellerin.

Koscielny has now netted twice in the last four, and with home encounters against Swansea City, Middlesbrough and Bournemouth, allied with a trip to Sunderland in the next six, additional clean sheets look on the cards.

Theo Walcott
While Alexis Sanchez suffered a rare blank, Walcott earned the assist for Koscielny’s last-gasp winner to maintain his recent output.

Walcott has now scored or assisted in five of the opening seven Gameweeks and, at a price of 7.6, is just seven points behind the 11.2-priced Chilean.

Having also netted both goals in the midweek Champions League win over FC Basel, the Gunners winger is becoming increasingly influential.

Virgil Van Dijk
Overshadowed by full-back pair Cedric Soares and Ryan Bertrand in the previous two fixtures, the Dutchman served a reminder of his potential by grabbing the maximum bonus points away to Leicester.

Van Dijk has produced almost twice the number of clearances, blocks and interceptions than any defensive team-mate and also leads the way at the back for efforts on goal.

Claude Puel’s side now have six successive shut-outs in all competitions, though with Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool in the next five, the short-term schedule is somewhat taxing.

Joe Allen
The summer signing netted for the second successive Gameweek after bagging Stoke’s leveller at Old Trafford. Allen also scored at home to West Brom last weekend and, at a price of just 4.8 in FPL, is shaping up to be a viable value option as the fixtures turn in the Potters’ favour.

Daley Blind
Stationed at left-back once again, the Dutchman managed to pick up two bonus points at home to the Potters thanks to his all-round contribution. Blind has now produced 14 points in his two outings as a full-back, suggesting that a fit Luke Shaw will face a battle to regain a starting role.

In Decline

Zlatan Ibrahimovic
It’s one goal and a single assist in five for the United striker after Sunday’s blank in the stalemate with Stoke.

Ibrahimovic has dropped 0.4 in price in the last two Gameweeks and with the international break now upon us; the exodus is already picking up speed ahead of back-to-back trips to Liverpool and Chelsea.

Over 56,000 FPL managers have parted company since the passing of yesterday’s deadline as the clamour for in-form midfield assets intensfies.

Aleksandar Kolarov
The Serbian retained his starting role despite an abject midweek display against Celtic. Sunday’s early own goal perhaps sums up Kolarov’s current lack of self-belief – with one clean sheet in seven now for City, Pep Guardiola will surely be considering a recall for Gael Clichy as he looks to bounce back from his first Premier League defeat.

Vincent Janssen
Dropped to the bench against City, it’s clear that Mauricio Pochettino has identified Heung-Min Son as the central striker in the absence of the injured Harry Kane. We may have been gifted an excellent new value option in midfield, but, in Janssen, we appear to have missed out on a new option up front.

Riyad Mahrez, Jamie Vardy
While the goalless draw means that the Foxes have conceded just once in four home league fixtures, the Leicester City pair yet again failed to serve up the points.

Mahrez now has one assist in six and Vardy has netted twice in the first seven – both are still found in 14% of FPL squads, but we can surely expect extended sales over the break.

having already done Ibra/Antonio->Kun/Son; I wouldn't prefer a -8 hit for a defender.. at least in the EPL..

Never expected a Koscienly so controversial hand ball goal. I am keeping Bellerin as Koscienly is not going to keep scoring such lucky goals with the last kick of the game.

      My team for Gw 8
      Heaton
      Mcauley, Walker, Bellerin
      Sanchez, Antonio, Firmino, Capoue
      Aguero, Lukaku, Defoe
      Subs: Pickford, Valencia, Amat, Maloney
      0.4 in the bank.
Hoping that there are no injuries during Internationals and save the transfer.
Any pressing transfer you guys is a must ?

He's one of the better headers of the ball though. Pretty sure some owners like myself factored that in when deciding b/n him or Bellerin+0.5M.

No pressing transfer atm. Maybe Mcauley > WAT defender if no injuries?

      Foster Jaku
      Williams Lovren A.Smith Holebas Amat
      Sanchez Firmino Sterling Son Capoue
      Aguero Lukaku Rashford

      1 FT, 0.2 ITB.

I shipped in Son last night for Antonio to take advantage of the price increase... My team value is 102.7 positioned on the 5863th place in the Overall table. Fairly decent I would say, though I dropped quite a bit this GW, I had a dreadful week except Firmino and Lukaku goal... I even benched Holebas over Smith to have 6 points sitting on the bench...

Do I use my FT? What to do? The only thing I was thinking about was to get Pickford for Jaku. Gain 0.1 for a cheap and destined to rise goalkeeper. Any other ideas and should I do it or keep the transfer?

I always take the risk of someone getting injured. I think statistically it is the right thing to do. In the long term price chances are very important. Just allows you to get another premium player on later on.

I'm in a bad mood and it's international break so I'll leave you with this. Feel free to ignore

        3 terms I hate the most;

        1)Casuals
        2 )Monitor
        3)GTG?

Casuals just sounds so derogatory, as though people who don't take an hour to arrange their subs bench are somehow inferior beings.
Player x needs monitoring annoys me because that implies there are some players we don't monitor.
GTG 9 times out of 10 is just an excuse to print your team fishing for compliments

Completely messed up my team this week by forgetting to change it! Ended up with Snodgrass captain, lukaku on the bench and returning a measely 34 points! But..... my rival triple captained Zlatan and ended up scoring less then me so feeling very lucky to have got away with it!

            Thinking for next week:

            Zlat & Kone > Bellerin & any striker under 9.5 = -4

            Or

Zlat, Capoue, Kone > Bellerin, Son, any striker under 6.9 = -8

            What do you think?

Probably similar to many other questions but which moves look best? 2FT 0.1ITB

            Foster / Pickford
            Clyne / Coleman / Holebas / Kone* / Amat
            Firmino / Sterling / Antonio* / Snoddy / Capoue*
            Kun / Zlatan* / Lukaku

            A) Zlatan & Antonio > Sanchez & Defoe/Deeney/Benteke
            B) Zlatan & Capoue > Defoe/Deeney/Benteke & Walcott
            C) Zlatan & Antonio & Kone > Kosc & Walcott & Striker up to 9.5 (-4)
            D) Something else

Wouldn't mind keeping Antonio but I really would like an Arsenal Mid and he seems the best to make way. Who do you think is the best Zlatan replacement? Cheers

contemplating dumping Rashford and making the switch to 3-5-2. Think a midfielder like Walcott or Son Heung Min offers more value than a Rashford, Wilson or Austin, atm.

            Pickford/Foster (Weak IMO)
Vert Valencia Bellerin (Amat Love) Injury can hurt me.
Sanchez Sterling Wally Firmino Son About as sound as it can get IMO.
Costa Kaku (Stuani) Obvious worry about Kun Factor and Costa yellow.

So far 10k without Ibra or Kun and 100 points benched also. Somebody give me an argument on the Kun factor because I think it is all in the mind.

You could downgrade Sterling and bring in Kun for Costa but in truth your team is fine without Kun. Poor bench defenders though you won't get any help there

I agree entirely. I have exactly zero to upgrade. Lalana or Milner for Firmino could save dosh for defenders?

I'm still struggling to decide... Capoue currently my fourth midfielder and not sure if I want to waste 4 points.
            A) Sanchez & Capoue
            B) Walcott & Son (+1 left over)
            C) Mane & Son

I'd go C if you would still have Arsenal attacking cover.

Ibra failing to score for the third consecutive game is a massive blow for us owners. As mentioned in the article his price is sure to drop rappidly with away to Liverpool and Chelsea up next. Should I

            A) Do Ibra to Denney for a hit
            B) Wait another week and do A for free next GW (probably 0.3m loss in TV)
            C) Stick with Ibra

He's not contributing, has superior fixtures and his TV is dropping like a stone.

Ibra and Fletcher to Firmino and Denney gains me 8 points over the next 5 GW's according to Rate my Team.

I'd look at Benteke or Defoe also but not for a hit. Just wait till next week. Liverpool will concede and Ibra might be the one to score

I've still got him and Hazard. I was convinced they'd both return this week. That early missed chance when clean through set the tone for the whole match if that had gone in it would have been a rout.

I want to sell Haz & Antonio but logic suggests Ibra is more pressing. I just know as soon as I sell all these chances will start going in!

Going to sit tight and wait on international injury news though.

If Ibra does hit form (liv and chelsea) , I could buy him back at a profit in a couple of weeks time.

I think Costa will avoid yellow cards until the man utd match so, he can serve out his ban in the cup. Costa knows how to avoid when he needs to.

If you can afford it, yes. Could also go with 1 ARS + 1 TOT defender, if you didn't have an Arsenal defender yet.

Have Cech in goal. There's plenty of mid-priced MFs delivering as well as some strikers who can take the third spot so in my mind it's worth investing in your defence which may prove to be the real differential this season

Pogba is starting to look like a good fantasy option. Just need to wait for Man Utd to start winning and get confidence back. Pogba should have end up with like 18points against Stoke. Missed sitter, hit a crossbar, created great chance for Ibra... Maybe on paper he is a central midfielder, but on pitch, definitely not, he had i think 4 shots from inside the box against Stoke. But, wait and see, it's too early now.

He should have had points but his finishing was crap. Should've easily won the game if it weren't for Pogba's wastefulness

These international breaks are really a pain. On wildcard and feel like I have too many South Americans in my squad. With Champions League games coming up on Oct 18th/19th (City away to Barcelona on the 19th), what do we think the chances are of the following not starting on GW8?

            A) Sanchez
            B) Aguero
            C) Firmino
            D) Coutinho

Liverpool play United on Monday so maybe that gives enough time to recover from the travel
